Strathfield Greens - An Ancient Truck

- There was one stuffed up Tuesday during one of my spring holidays where I visited Strathfield. I'd already missed the garbage trucks so I was praying that I would have some luck with the green-waste collection. After finding some un-serviced streets, I had a feeling WSN would be using an old truck down here... I was right :D
A quote from the driver... "It's as old as Moses". This ancient side loader has done some big rounds, originally starting off in the City of Ryde under Veolia's operations. When Veolia lost the Ryde contract, WSN got some of the old trucks and sent them to their Parramatta operations. When Parramatta canned WSN and started with Cleanaway, WSN sent this truck down to Strathfield. Each fortnight this fast truck is down in Strathfield, collecting all the green-waste Monday to Friday.
I hope you enjoy the footage of this ancient machine working hard, all ratings and comments are greatly appreciated. I would also like to give an enormous thanks to the driver, he was a very friendly bloke - you'll see he doesn't muck around with this truck either.
Body Make: MacDonald Johnston

I can't believe that this truck is still being used, since its suck an old truck.
It must be well looked after!
Thanks Mitch
@aussiegarbo80 I was told it is still being used; one reason I am keen to return for some confirmation... more footage of an oldie like this would be priceless.
Yeah, probably! But it is still fascinating how fast these bin lifters are!
Considering it's use, it's still going pretty hard! Probably a MkIII, if not a II. Kick arse sound to the engine, not used to it... I've been growing up with the ISC's :D
Great job Mitch! You've done an AWESOME job with your vids lately!
Cant remenber when i saw these in Holroyd like 2001
Generally everything will end up at the MRF after some point after collection. Unless a load is highly contaminated (not very common) or if there's a problem with collections/tipping facilities.
wish they still made these
90% have been wrecked now east waste had some internatinoal acco rls along time ago back in like 2003-2008
This driver's also got the safety of the customer in mind - I say this because, at 4:47, he reverses back and picks the bin with the red lid on it up!
Mitch,
She's a ACCO from 1990 to 1994 vintage!
Joe
That lifter looks really dangerous! I wouldn't wanna stand in the way when it actually slips and throws the bin away! :-)
Mmm... never considered it being a mudflap, but seeing the WSN logo on it made me think about it - I reckon you're right! haha I'll try and get more of this one if I get the chance.
Got a paddle packer.
The driver knows moses? wow:)
Nice Video. Is this truck still being used today

I'd have said 1994 as the latest year for this truck!

I used its number plate to find details
