    As I've said in comments on previous videos, it's so great to see your enthusiasm and joy for a new piece of equipment that allows you to fulfil your photographic vision. I also really like listening to your opinion on gear, as you give a wide range of thoughts without going over the top for it and trying to make out that this new piece of gear will suddenly make you an incredible photographer. However, I do have to admit that the videos of you talking about gear whilst walking through Tokyo and taking photographs are far, far more interesting and enjoyable to watch than this pure focus on the gear. I just feel that format gives a greater connection between the gear and the photographs you are taking, whereas this feels a bit more like other 'camera review' videos that are out there on youtube. Hopefully this comment on my thoughts makes sense and doesn't come across as negative/criticism - I just really love the other format!

      Thanks! I know this format is not the most popular, but sometimes I just have to scratch an itch and get my opinions out in a formal manner. This way if anyone asks me why I like the Z9, I can just link this video. Anyway, don't worry, this format is not gonna take over. I did a similar video when I got my Z6II, so this is only reserved for the rare occasions when I get a new camera. :)

    I've got 2 more weeks wait from my preferred smaller shop. I thought my wait was over when I snapped up an open box from BH last week, but the joystick was defective!! My soul was crushed when I realized I had to return it and wait a few more weeks. I found out that BH has 1,200 people still on the wait list, down from 3,500 since release. There are a few smaller shops that can get you a z9 in under a month if you look around.

      Yeah it took about 6 months here in Japan but I bought from a small shop, no one of the big electronic stores. With the joystick, if it was in Tokyo I would have brought it Nikon and they might have been able to fix it on the spot, or at worst send it away for about 10 days and 300 bucks. • @EYExplore
      @EYExplore  11 місяців тому +1

      Well, I'm not really trying to convince people to buy one haha. In fact, could tell you flat out right now that if you're looking at the price then this camera is NOT for you. You'll be extremely happy with a Z6II. There is no reason for you to get a Z9. For me however, it's as I say in the video. All of those things are worth the additional ~4k.
      To answer your question about image quality, it's basically indistinguishable from a Z7II. Dynamic range as well. I would say the Z6II has better low light performance than either a Z7II or Z9/Z8, which makes sense as it's a lower resolution sensor. However, the other cameras have better dynamic range, but not by much. Anyway, if you care most about image quality then again, this camera will not satisfy you for the price. It's about usability and low light AF / speed. That's where the camera shines. :)

      @@EYExplore Thanks, I guess for you as a pro the details are important and you get so many good shots that you tend to focus more on the shots you didn't get because of X or Y detail the camera didn't do well. As an amateur, your average viewer I suspect :), I'm the cause of most of the shots I lose, not the camera and I get so much more satisfaction from the rare good shot I get that it makes it all worth it. I've been researching the Z range for a future buy, I don't see any Z5 vs Z6-2 comparisons, where the value propositions are really close and a decision is hard for an amateur because the difference might go to a good glass instead. Most pros focus on Z9/Z8 Vs Z6-2 which are not in the same class by far. It's a need that is not satisfied by photography UA-camrs and it's amazing that Nikon is not encouraging it. I get the Z9 is where the big margin is for Nikon but, your group is where the Nikon investment is already decided, pros don't switch brands so easy. I am at the DSLR crop to Mirrorless full level, I need help choosing which Nikon and, well, I need convincing to stay with Nikon, I'll lose most my glass anyway but my choice will be important for Nikon's future too and it's weird that Nikon's brand ambassador branch has no interest in helping guys like me :( Anyways, you might not be brand ambassadors, others are and it. Feels like they're not helping Nikon efficiently in some hard times, and the company is not mature enough to ask it. It would be sad for skilled engineers to suffer because marketing is out of focus.

I've never owned or used a Z5, so I don't know much about it, but just looking at the spec I think the main diff is the extra CPU in the Z6II which likely translate to better AF performance. The sensors are also different and I think the Z5 has a standard one while the Z6II has a BSI sensor, which means better low light performance. I think the EVF is also higher resolution in the Z6II.
