My dad’s first Mercedes was a brand new 1986 190E, truly beautiful. Never had any problem, was incredibly reliable. My love for Mercedes actually started because of that car. I have my own Mercedes today. Naturally. - Filipe
Ive daily driven my 190e for the last 4 years. Was my first car, and with nearly 400k kms it still runs like new. Having worked for Mercedes and now Porsche, ive driven more cars than i can count, and can comfortably say my little 30+ year old 190E outshines them all. It handles amazingly, looks great and is so comfortable. I will never sell it. It shall be passed down to my children and hopefully theres as well.
I know what you feel like. I started off with the blue 1984 190 E 2.3 4 cylinder Gasoline engine, thought the engine was much too underpowered. So moved up to the 1988 190 E 2.6 Cylinder in signal red. Had a very creamy power delivery and wonderful well built interior and body. But it still was a tad underpowered for me. So I bought a 1993 400E V8 in Silver. I adored that car and the motor was superb I adored it’s performance was not that bad at all on gasoline. I drove 70 miles a day for work on that car. Very under the radar. I miss that car sooooooo much! I sold it because it needed a 10 K paint job. And it had 114,000 miles on it. Because I fell I love with a 1995 E320, black on black leather perfectly paint and interior with only 45,000 Miles. 12 years later I still own it. I love the creamy smooth 3.2 Straight 6 and how it sips fuel. But I miss the urge of the 4.2 V8. Oh well I guess you can’t have it all. 😂 I’ll never sell my E320 as it’s a limited edition model runout model and only has 61,000 miles on it now and use it sparingly among others. I adore the steering inputs in it over the 190E and in bad icy weather it’s like no ice or snow is there. A very comfortable and stable car. Why would I want a 1996 and newer ugly and cheaper built models?
I’m addition the newer ones are technologically nightmares to have to fix all the time at the dealership. Although a bit better than Plastic Fantastic newer B.M.W’s and oil leak Audi’s. These pre 2002 Mercedes are the best In terms of quality and being just perfect. Then they got to build cars to a cheaper price point with bad quality everything and over overly complex. Then dropped the V12 the only one i wanted. And no soon will probably drop the V8’s too. There is no reason why I’d go for a new Mercedes. They should have continued to build the “Best or Nothing” like what they advertise.
That's a wonderful memory, Middy! 🥰 It's amazing how childhood toys can leave such a lasting impression. Buying the 190E as an adult sounds like a fantastic way to relive those nostalgic moments. Good luck in finding one!
Wow. The car, the story, the person, the Alex. Everything top notch. I'd also like to congratulate Shareen for redefining my view of an ideal woman. Having such profound love for cars and even wrenching on them. I love it!
Interesting to hear her speak of the alternator failure. I had my 190E suffer an alternator failure on the way home from work in a new city I’d moved to. I was stranded and as I lived in the country, the car was towed home. In the ‘trunk’ or boot of the car, I had a spare set of Bosch brushes. The next morning, in my carport, with the alternator still in place on the engine, and having charged the battery overnight, I changed the brushes ‘by feel’ in situ. Reinstalled the battery and off the car went…didn’t miss a beat. I’d known about how M-B cars go through alternator brushes and to keep a set spare. Definitely was spot-on. Wonderful little cars. Now I have a C124 coupe to keep me entertained too.
Her Mercedes qualifies for the first of the high mileage badges (250,000 km). Beautiful Mercedes! From someone who grew up with Mercedes, (my grandfather had a Mercedes. My father drove Mercedes, and I now drive Mercedes), there's something very special about the three-pointed star. Good luck with your baby and may you have many years of happy memories and long miles driving your Mercedes Benz!
@@dinispaulino7512 Google "Mercedes-Benz high mileage badges" and there's an application form that you can fill it out in the United States. I would also recommend visiting your local Mercedes-Benz dealership to see if they can help with getting a badge.
The 190 is a brilliant brick. Got a 1985 190d 2 years ago with the om601 with only 220000km, with the indeed quite rare 5 speed. Comfortable, quiet, everything but fast, but solid as a rock. An engineering masterpiece. With its 38 years already a real classic, which is even more accentuated by its nice classic white color. It's a keeper. I don't see myself ever selling it to be honest
@@MercedesBenz Indeed. When well maintained it will basically outlive everything what is currently on the roads. If you go totally doomsday and get the worst solar flare know in human history, the 190D also will be still running 😂 It doesn't need electricity to run of course.
For my 15th birthday present I asked asked my mom and partner to take me for a test drive at the local Davenport Iowa MB dealer. I loved the brand so much I was shaking nervous that night. This was the car we test drove, the “baby Benz”. Seems silly now but what an amazing memory. I’m now the proud owner of a 1994 S124 and work for Daimler Truck. This series is fantastic!
We love what you did there, Ryan! That surely is a great way to get acquainted with the Mercedes-Benz family. 😊 We are very happy to have you on board!
My friends grandpa has a 1990 190D 2.0, It has 448k kilometers. The legend uses it to transport olives. Drove it the other day, drives like a dream. Its not in amazing shape but the mechanic bits are impecable. Served him for years, it will serve him more and it will serve my friend for years when he inherets it
Hello from Sweden. Well done, Shareen, you kept the legendry Baby Benz the way it should be kept. What a beautiful baby benz ❤. Hope to visit Mercedes Museum soon, Best regards to Shareen and all the Mercedes community members.
Greetings from Malaysia. What a lovely ownership story from a lovely lady with her lovely Baby Benz. It is true these built quality we can definitely feel it. I am owner of a W124 too. Great highway juggernout. So relax cruising it pass big trucks and crosswinds. Sadly submerged in big flood 11 feet in 2021. Still reviving like she said, a progressive restore. Honestly, she is pretty, tall, and really sexy driving a manual. Happy motoring.
Classic Mercedes Benz are the best! Disappointed by the direction it is taking nowadays even if this is not bad, but the old ones have my heart beating! My first car memories are in a 190 by the way.
Where were you when I bought, restored and daily drove SIX in a row Mercedes 190e's from 2009 through 2019! If you're in the neighborhood, still have a '90 420sel, '93 300e 2.8 and '81 380slc though!
I have a Mercedes 190E from 1990, bought during lockdown as a bit of a project for my channel. However, the longer I have the car the more I’ve really grown attached to it. The owner of this car is right, the parts supply for a car that ceased production 30 years ago is outstanding, okay, trim parts are getting a bit difficult but most of the other stuff is still available, even the little plastic clips that hold some of the trims on.
I have a Volvo that is my first car, I want so badly to keep it like Shareen! I would do anything to be able to keep it and restore everything in a few years but I am selling it now in university :( Must be so nice to have your first car still that means so much to you! Love these 190e's
Nice video that captivates what makes the 190E so great. I got my W201 as my first car 7 years ago and it never fails to impress, it now feels like an old friend as it can always be relied on. You can see the depth of high-quality engineering all over it, the Monoblade wiper system is one such feature that showcases how good design can really make a car timeless. I still (almost) daily drive it. The M103 2.6l six-cylinder engine is silky smooth and puts you in a relaxed mood wafting along, it’s a car that makes you wish each journey is longer so you can follow the 3-pointed star ahead of you. Looking forward to driving it to Stuttgart again from the UK to one of the MB Museum car and coffee events.
I've never owned a classic, but when I do it may very well be one like this, or a w123. I love the timeless elegance of these cars. For me personally 1000% more desirable than the majority of moden vehicles. Good to hear that they're fairly easy to work on and source parts for too. Thanks for uploading this. Greetings fr Ireland ☘️
190e is crazy in terms of the size people that will fit in it. Usually with kompact cars, people of her size will struggle to find comfortable driving position.
Excellent W201 190-Class love those cars. I own a W202 C220 as an original owner since 1996 great cars as long they are well care for. Thanks for the video.
The Mercedes W202 C class is as reliable as the W123 E class. Both are timeless and special with great memories. I drove the W202 in Hong Kong for great 10 years before purchasing a W212 E200.
Waiting on the day, when the first generation C208 CLK will be considered as a classic. Someday 👍 I have a first production year model CLK 200, from 1997. What a wonderfull piece of art.
Watching this brought back so many memories. I had four 190D’s back in the day and everyone was a joy to drive. I would love to own a classic Mercedes again soon. Best Wishes.
Love Mercedes ! We had a2002 E200 that went to 400+ thousand kilometers, and a 2010 E350 that went to 200K miles ! I know enjoy a 2017 E300 fully equiped which drives like a dream! My father has a GLB220d and my sister a GLB 250 which are the most practical and fun cars to have ! The family of MErcedes is unique !
Back in early 1990s, the 190E 2.6L was my dream car but could not afford it. Now with my family, we already enjoyed 2010 C250 AMG line for 10 years before we traded up to 2022 GLC 200 AMG line until now. We always love MB for safety, confort and reliability.
Excelente video. Felicitaciones!. Éxitos. Saludos desde Venezuela.
I’ve been contemplating a 190E as a daily driver classic for some time - I think they epitomise everything that used to be great about MB. Only drawback - no folding rear seats - so I can’t get my bike in the back. Other than that, a 190E would be a wonderful daily car!
We still use a W124, a 190D and a W115 240D as our only daily family cars, plenty of room, good fuel milage (OM601 & OM616) and there are still and hopefully also in the future enough spare parts available 👌. The 200D W124 already has 500ks, the 190D 400ks and the W115 is unknown but im guessing arround 200k.
Day 1: Hi Mercedes. I have been a fan and lover of your cars, all my life. In South-Africa, back in the day Mercedes-Benz was only obtainable by certian members of society. There we were in my grandfather's brand new Mercedes-Benz w116 and than followed by the w123. You can just look at the year model of the cars and compare that to the political situation in South Africa at the time. Police stopped us to ask my grandfather were he got this car. It became a simbol of hope. I have been supporting and following Mercedes ever since.
What a great story. I would like to buy W201 now, but I can't justify myself to have 5 cars🥲 25 years ago we commuted with one. The owner said it would correct rear wheel slide in winter just by letting letting steering wheel free from your hands. That is some steering geometry.
Wonderful vid Alex. Nothing like a Bruno Sacco masterpiece. Actually how about another masterpiece from the great designer....the r129SL? Just a suggestion 😉
Would love to see an episode on a W140. I daily drive my S500 and there is nothing on the road that compares to it. I own a W213 which I do not even take out anymore as it feels nothing like the W140!
I used to have a similar looking 190E also... sadly mine went up in a cloud of steam in rush hour when the cooling system entirely failed lol. I'd owned it less than a month!
I love this series! If you're ever in Canada, you're free to review my E55 wagon. It's a Japan import in perfect condition, and (sacreligiously) I use it as a work vehicle for my business.
We had the 180 in the 90s it was a demo with hardly any mileage. It was a beautiful car with beautiful engineering and limousine ride comfort. It was a little underpowered but that was its only downside
I drive a E class AMG night edition premium plus station wagon it’s the best car I’ve used for business, over 60k in two years trouble free and I want to double that before I even think of changing. They are just the best cars.
The 190 is tail happy. I have got a lot of memories with this car. My dads last car was W203. He died this year. I can't sell the car because of the memories.
I actually own a 1986 190E 5 speed manual. been in my family since 1986 and the car has 2.1 million km, still drives like a benz and no issues ;)

Not your hardest day at work Alex; beautiful car owned by a beautiful young lady.
She is a engineer and picks a Classic Mercedes, says a lot for Mercedes Benz craftsmanship. Plus she can do the work herself. I want a 190E
Back in early 1990s, the 190E 2.6L was my dream car but could not afford it. Now with my family, we already enjoyed 2010 C250 AMG line for 10 years before we traded up to 2022 GLC 200 AMG line until now. We always love MB for safety, confort and reliability.
Fantastic video. Would love to see more like this. 300E? Pillarless coupe model.
Hey Alex, I bet this video gave you pleasant memories of your uni days in Germany? nudge nudge 😉😉
Excelente video.
Felicitaciones!.
Éxitos.
Saludos desde Venezuela.
Awesome! 201s are fabulous vehicles. Waiting for episode 4
I live in El Salvador and I have a w203 2002 I love my Mercedes, BTW beautiful and smart girl!
I absolutely loved my 190E, The last of the properly built Mercs. I wish I didn't sell it and move to the E300.
I’ve been contemplating a 190E as a daily driver classic for some time - I think they epitomise everything that used to be great about MB. Only drawback - no folding rear seats - so I can’t get my bike in the back. Other than that, a 190E would be a wonderful daily car!
124 estate?
We still use a W124, a 190D and a W115 240D as our only daily family cars, plenty of room, good fuel milage (OM601 & OM616) and there are still and hopefully also in the future enough spare parts available 👌.
The 200D W124 already has 500ks, the 190D 400ks and the W115 is unknown but im guessing arround 200k.
You should check in Croatia city named Imotski where most 80% people driving mercedes and they own classic mercedes cars it's very unique.
Wow she is stunning
I daily a 1986 190D 2.5 - Over 320k km, newly restored diesel pump, no rust in Silverdistel Metallic with the pine green interior.
Wonderful vid Alex. Nothing like a Bruno Sacco masterpiece. Actually how about another masterpiece from the great designer....the r129SL? Just a suggestion 😉
Alex really missed an opportunity there to say "rowdy" driving when they were talking about how she got the dent lmao
This is such a good car and I've always loved Mercedes-Benz my personal favorite is the W140. Mercedes is simply beautiful.
Thank you for your kind words of support, John! ❤️
Very interesting series! and great car of course :)
We are glad you think so! 🥰
I bet there's a trail of broken hearts following that particular Mercedes around.
Driving with a view of the three pointed star on the bonnet is timeless.
Well said! 😏
Would love to see an episode on a W140. I daily drive my S500 and there is nothing on the road that compares to it. I own a W213 which I do not even take out anymore as it feels nothing like the W140!
We see what we can do about it, Ashane. 😉 Congratulations for your collection of super Stars!
I used to have a similar looking 190E also... sadly mine went up in a cloud of steam in rush hour when the cooling system entirely failed lol. I'd owned it less than a month!
Great show. Have a W126 chassis 560SEC or SEL on next time.
Well, since you asked. I'd love to see a W116 also know as "The forgotten S-Class"
Anywasy, great series, really enjoyed it!:)
Back when Mercedes meant something.
MERCEDES BENZ STILL MEANINGFUL!
Thanks for sharing, Chris! We are glad you're having such a good time with your star. ⭐ 😍
Great choice for an episode
Incrivelmente inovador ❤
Great concept! 💯
Alex the goat 🐐
Alex, best Host!
She's beautiful, Shareen, also the car😅
Pretty cool that a brand this big still hearts comments
The 190 is tail happy. I have got a lot of memories with this car. My dads last car was W203. He died this year. I can't sell the car because of the memories.
That is a surprisingly not mundane official channel there!! Really interesting!
