Ritchie Faulkner. Britain's answer to Zakk Wylde, but still retaining his own style. Brilliant!

The guy with long hair is miles better than the guy who played the first solo.

+GenLibeb That long-haired guy should be - It's Richie Faulkner, guitarist with Judas Priest; but he started off his music career as regular guitarist for Metalworks. The short-haired guy Dan Parsons has come on a long way since I filmed this and is now lead guitarist with a band called 'Chase The Ace' Check them out GenLibeb :-) facebook.com/ChaseTheAceBand

When ZW does a pinch harmonic, it's so intense it ends up pinching the note the bass player is playing.

What happened to this band? Are they still playing?

    • @punkrocksal
      @punkrocksal  2 місяці тому +1

Yes! Metalworks still play in Camden, but not every Sunday as I type. Their home is currently The Underworld, with a core of pro musicians on the rota to perform, depending on who is free. Richie still plays with the band when he's in town.

Who are the Parsons? The guys from Alan Parson's Project?

    • @punkrocksal
      @punkrocksal  5 років тому

Steve Parsons is brother of Tony Parsons who was in Iron Maiden for a short while. Dan is his son - now known by his stage name Dan Stevens - guitarist with Nathan James' Inglorious.

I hope this helps John: Metalworks are a Sunday institution in Camden, as the metal/rock covers band have been playing there every week now for 16 years. Led by the legendary Steff, band members past and present have been drawn from such luminaries as Iron Maiden, Alice Cooper, The Almighty, Judas Priest, Zodiac Mindwarp, Voodoo Six and the Lauren Harris Band.
All the classics are covered from AC/DC to Zeppelin, via Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Metallica, and the old school sounds of Free, Deep Purple, Hendrix etc. 3 hours of rocking sounds every Sunday night from 8pm. All for just £5
The first line-up of Metalworks emerged back in the early nineties, with current Vox/Guitarist Steff, and Lead Guitarist Tony Parsons, together with various other musicians sharing duties; Peter Cowan a regular on drums.
Prior to Metalworks, Steff and Tony had been in a couple of bands together, and for a short time Tony was also part of an early Iron Maiden line-up, recording the tracks Wrathchild and Sanctuary for the Metal For Muthas compilation album, The BBC Live Sessions, and embarking on their first UK Tour. Tony and former Maiden Drummer Doug Sampson were later replaced by Dennis Stratton and Clive Burr. .... A number of years later, a chance meeting, and then some informal jamming with old mates, led on to what is now Metalworks.
Since its early formation, the band has been a regular feature on the live circuit, particularly in London and the South East, and has held residences at some of the capital's top venues. These include: The Marquee Club, Leicester Square. Dingwalls, Camden Lock; and currently The Monarch, Chalk Farm Road, Camden, playing the regular Rock night every Sunday from 8:00pm. .... A few years ago, Tony decided to leave the band due to other commitments.
Over the years, many well known names from the Rock/Metal scene have guested and jammed with the band; Paul Di’anno (Iron Maiden), Nicko McBrain (Iron Maiden), Adam Ant (Adam Ant), Cobalt Stargazer (Zodiac Mindwarp), John Norum, John Levén and Ian Haugland from Swedish Rock band Europe,to name a few.
Other previous notable members have included: Les Binks on Drums (Judas Priest) Pete Friesen on Lead Guitar (Alice Cooper band)
      The current lineup features:
      Steff Vox/Guitar
Richie Faulkner - Guitar (when not on tour with Judas Priest)
      Matt Pearce - Guitar
Dave “Shapes” Rimmer - Bass (when not on tour with Uriah Heep)
      Gus Macricostas - Bass
      Andy Fuller - Keys
      Pete Jean - Drums
We have regular deps due to the fact that at any one time, one or more of the regular line-up may be away on tour, or unavailable; all top rate players to cover most situations.
The roster includes: George Gt. Stergiou, Dan Parsons (Chase The Ace), Niro Knox (KilliT) & Tony Parsons on guitar. Mel Gabbitas, Tony Newton (Voodoo Six), Gus Macricostas, Steve Parsons (Nitroville) & Geos Letona on Bass. Les Binks, Yam Artzy (Chase The Ace), Moyano El Buffalo & Dave "Grav" Cavill on Drums.
Luka "Twitch" Ravase (aka D'Artagnan) is a regular additional vocalist EVERY week & Gab Soulavy (now with Inglorious) deserves a mention for Keyboards.
      Profile of band members:
      Steff - Vox/Guitar
The boss ! Well known for his time in Rock/Metal outfits over the years, Steff has fronted various bands and been involved in projects with former members of Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Thin Lizzy and early Fleetwood Mac.
      Richie Faulkner - Lead Guitar/Vocals
Richie first performed with Metalworks in the summer of 1994 at the age of 14, joining them for a jam of Jimi Hendrix's 'All Along The Watchtower', at The Queens Head pub, Green Lanes, North London, and was subsequently invited to join the band. Since then, Richie has also been involved in various other bands and projects, most notably the Stockholm based Solemn Temple, and established UK acts Deeds, Voodoo Six, Ace Mafia, Lauren Harris and now Judas Priest.
Obviously, now that he is with Priest, Richie is no longer a regular fixture but he does still come along to play with us whenever he is in town.
      Matt Pearce - Lead Guitar/Vocals
Matt is currently plays with several bands including Voodoo Six, who have toured all over the world, and played major UK festivals such as Download & Sonisphere They supported the Iron Maiden World tour in 2014, & Extreme on their European tour. Matt is currently our most regular lead guitarist, playing every other week when not out on tour.
Dave “Shapes” Rimmer - Bass Guitar/Vocals
Dave, based in Camden, but originally from Liverpool is also the Bass player for Sleaze Rock outfit Zodiac Mindwarp and URIAH HEEP, Dave has been an almost permanent fixture at Metalworks for well over 10years, and has also been involved in various side projects with other local bands. However, his heavy touring schedule with Heep currently limits his appearances with us somewhat.
      Other long standing regulars:
Dan Panza - Lead Guitar/VocalsBorn in Italy, Dan moved to London in 2007, at the age of 19. After a couple of months in town, he got a chance to audition for established heavy rock/metal band CAVALAR, with whom he recorded "Recoil", the band's second album. In June 2008 he joined progressive rock/metal band ACHILLA, with whom he recorded "Timeless", and played some of the UK's best venues and festivals, including: Bloodstock 2011, Islington Academy, The Underworld, The Relentless Garage, Nottingham Rock City, Birmingham Asylum, Leeds Rio's, Sheffield Corporation, Glasgow Cathouse.
He is also the lead guitarist/backing vocalist for Apollo's Child & A New Tomorrow, and played guitar on MONUMENT's debut EP.
      Tom Draper - Lead Guitar/Vocals
A native of North London, Tom first played with Metalworks at the Caernarvon Castle in Camden in 2005 and became a regular fixture at the Friday night Marquee Club shows of 05/06. Having spent the last few years recording and gigging with many orignals bands, most recently Crowning Glory, Savage Messiah & currently Primitai. He has now returned to the Metalworks roster, playing one in every 4 weeks.
      Peter Cowan - Drums
Pete first peformed with Metalworks at the the Three Blackbirds Leyton,in the summer of 1996 after chatting to Steff at The Cauliflower Ilford.. Since that time, Pete has been a regular at most shows, and when Les Binks (Judas Priest ) left the band in 2004, Pete was asked to get more involved..Pete also regularly takes up drum duties with RDB (Remus Down Boulevard), which features acclaimed East London blues Guitarist Dave Edwards and former Iron Maiden Lead Guitarist Dennis Stratton, as well as doing occasional session work. Pete still makes appearances but handed over the regular Sunday drum stool to Pete Jean in 2014
