Even though the airship was boring and horrifying, I liked the story the creator told. You start off by boarding on the bottom of the ship and then you move throughout the inside of the ship. After making your way through the inner workings of the ship you make your way on top as a traditional airship level and you have to fight the boss or captain of the ship.
Well made, for sure, but also horrifying
Yeah and he could’ve replaced the clear condition by red coins and added checkpoints after each clear only with mushroom section.
@@Rijnswaand The red coins/checkpoints method really only works if the coins are all of some central area, not for a linearly progressing level. For the clear check, the creator has to be able to clear the level from each checkpoint (with no red coins), so there would need to be a way to backtrack.
What they could have done is replace the coins with keys and have the pipe to the next section behind a key door and followed by a checkpoint.
I can only imagine the pain if there were two blocks in front of that last celebratory pipe. I was fully expecting him to die to a mushroom-check when he went through it

The insane amount of talent Ryu has for gaming is crazy! That autoscroller on the ship was one of the most torturous things I have ever seen lol. Hats off to Ryu for sticking with it and completing the level! Awesome video today 😁😁

How many thousands of hours of Mario Maker have I watched/played to only just now find out you can inexplicably moonwalk in to pipes?? What even was that? 7:48
I've been toying around in the course maker in this level and I can reproduce this very consistently by having the cape feather power-up, standing with my back to the pipe and entering the pipe while spinning. Moonwalking through pipes this way works with the Tanooki suit in SMB3-style levels as well. It doesn't matter which way the pipe is facing (left or right) as long as your back is against the pipe entrance.
Ryu is like the Garbage Goober from Rick & Morty but for SMM levels
Sorry to inform you cuz you'll probably be like, "shit bro" but in the masterpiece troll level, you could have went back in the pipe to reset the bomb after you killed it with the star! 😆

The last level you could have skipped the entire boss fight. A homing bullet could have broken the wall at the end of the auto scroll section, and the flag was right there.
Those red bullet bills don't blow up, only the ones shot from the little mecha koopas. However, had he kicked the blue mecha koopa over to the right he may have been able to break the blocks and cheese it still
Wouldn't it have been a good strategy to brings the two Iggy stuck with you in the little room and just spin jump on them until the die?
I'm pretty sure the "incomming!!" level was supposed to be styled after the tank levels in Mario 3.

What’s the difference between a casual game like myself and a dedicated Mario maker player like Ryu? 1. Lose the power up before the pipe and then quit or 2. Get to the boss fight in a level with no check point because of a stupid clear condition die, then completely lose their mind then quit! GG Ryu!!

The (3) 10 coin level was not bad, just challenging. I could understand not wanting this during a run but this was not a bad level IMO.
It had good level design but a level that long not having checkpoints is just a no-go. Just drop the needless clear condition.
Also I think it shouldn't have had the powerup checks.
If a level is good, but it has a horrible placement of checkpoints, then that level is not good.
It was a very long, very slow autoscroller with no checkpoints and where you had to restart if you take one hit. It's awful.
That’s what makes the level difficult, the design is simple but the challenge is in not getting hit… I’m just going off memory watching it once, but I did not see really any unfair death situations.
If the level was full of places that were unfair, I could understand the points that you guys are bringing up, but this was a simple designed level that was made to be difficult in a non traditional fashion….
Slow speed, no checkpoints, clear condition (that was not hard or unfair to achieve), obstacles, enemy placement and a challenging boss fight. To me this was put together for people that like a “old school NES” type challenge.
