    Thanks for this video, it gave me lot`s of informations and great tips. We are looking forward to our first trip to Alaska this summer , starting in July. As I said, great video with one exepion! The guy who kicked the fish away with his foot! In my opinion no fisherman should treat a fish (or any animal) like that!

      Its wonderful being part of your vacation planning! July is a great time to visit Alaska and Im sure you'll really enjoy yourself. I agree with you about the JERK who kicked that fish! He was completely out of control and out of line. I included that part to create awareness that not only handling wildlife that way illegal but completely unethical. Im glad you pointed that out and hopefully this can be educational for other sportsmen down the road.

    I live in Placerville California. It’s easy to find out where to fish in Alaska. I fished Russian river falls and it was great. Stayed at Kenai river lodge . He is not giving up your secrets. Sounds like there are plenty of fish to go around. We all need people to come to our states for the economy. Get over it , and don’t be greedy. If you’re an Alaskan then you know your people who are in the guide business and resorts rely on the business from other states. So…nock it off. I met so many great people when I was in Alaska, so friendly.

    Hey fishing friend. I love your excitement on your fishing channel. You are awesome!! I took my nephew 2 years ago and it was a blast. I want to do a solo trip this year. I’m a terminal cancer patient that is in pretty good health. Alaska is on my bucket list again. Rather than pay a quite , I would pay you to take me fishing. I stayed at keniai lodge right across from where you fish. The bridge. If I book a trip, will you take me fishing?

If you make back up this way be sure to shout at me through this channel and we can go look for some pole benders! Stay on that path making peoples lives better, I know your comments sure lifted me today. My families heart goes out to your battle.

      I’ll have a new update out soon! The kenai is starting to pick up, dip netting opens today and is usually a good indicator of what’s running into the river. The kasilof is producing limits of sockeye if you can spend the day out there.

    Good times.........hit my limit both days but missed 5. Best I got was a 7 lbs bad boy. Biggest fish I have ever caught. I think they are moving out of the Kenai though and moving into the Russian. Still good at night and morning. Too many people in Soldatna from what I saw. It was packed on the roads and river. Now time to smoke em up for winter. Yeah baby!! Just 6 more left to go for winter food. Headed down next week for some more. Booya

      So first off, thanks for watching and welcome to the channel! Here is a link to the Alaska Fish and Game Fish Count info. www.adfg.alaska.gov/sf/FishCounts/ Silvers show up in August and run through October. Early July is Sockeye season and you're not likely to see any Silver Salmon. Check out the fish count history from the past several years and you can get a better picture of what to expect.

      This video was filmed in the 3rd week of July 2022. In the summertime, I film my content and then release it right after so you can assume that the premier dates for my videos are very close to the recording date. The sockeye runs here in Soldotna are at record numbers still.

    Driving to Alaska from Florida starting next week. I’m used to catching Snook, Redfish, and Tarpon.
    Any tips for catching my first salmon on a spinning reel settup? (Bait/lures, etc.)

    • @alaskasmallcraftadventures
      @alaskasmallcraftadventures  2 роки тому +2

      When you get up here you'll be catching the tail of the main sockeye run. The sockeye are followed by the Silver salmon and Pink Salmon runs. Silvers and pinks will be catchable drifting a bobber w/ salmon roe, casting spoons and spinners (anything chrome, chartreuse, pink or orange will do), flipping egg sucking leach or flesh fly patterns or imitation salmon egg patterns will increase chances of success. Good luck!

    • @alaskasmallcraftadventures

      No, I've never experienced a chum run in the Kenai. Im sure there's been a chum in the river before though considering they do catch them out in the inlet commercially, but they don't run into the Kenai as far as I know.

      I’ve only fished there every year for the last 3 years and I already knew about all the holes you have posted.. so your really not telling any secrets.. Also look at the number of people at every hole.. Thousands of people know these spots already.. There is a whole lot of river but lots of people think they have to fish in town at all the town spots..
