That cabling is so clean! This is how I run my main rig! A comp and a couple drives outboard, tonex in the loop, and the hx effects as the brain. So good to see the fx getting some love!
Nice setup, I have my boartd set up very similar. However I am using the midi from the HX to control the Tonex. It is nice to only need to use the foot switches from one unit.
I’m curious how it’s been going powering the HX with the mono? I’ve seen a lot of mixed opinions when it comes to power supplies. If it’s been working good for you I’ll definitely be ordering one
@@dancrowell2933 if you have ever used a kemper the TONEX tones are very similar possibly even better! But I think the TONEX compared to the line6 stuff the amps are just a bit clearer and it seems more dynamic it’s hard to explain but when you get it in ur hands it’s gonna blow you away! Also! Kemper just released the player pedal which means that TONEX has a bit more competition so in the next few months we will see how Ik media reacts to the new pedal! Very exciting times!
Hey Jimmy, as a Tonex guy who's gone deep on this, I've got a suggestion for the WT AC20 (morgan). For this amp, (ac #2) I run compression (in the pedal) post, with a gain of 3, 51 seconds of attack, and a threshold of 0. I know, I know, it's barely on right? However, I also use very light compression in the front with my keeley, and my nobels ODR 1 pushing it on a low gain setting. I run stereo strymon delay and verb after into my walrus DI and I've got my polished worship tone for Sunday morning..... this is a sort of hack for AC style tones to give it that tube amp like feel, and it really works great live. Try it and let me know your thoughts. I get asked all the time where my amp is at, and I say, I'm using tonex. My sound guy was shocked! Hope this helps, happy new year🎉 Oh yeah, for alot of WT profiles, you may need to bring the volume up to about 7.5 with compression to hit your frfr's with a good level, if your not using an interface
This is the same combo I bought but I’m seriously considering sending my tonex back. I don’t gig and the software does everything. The only thing I really use it for is if I’m sitting on the couch using headphones.
Great board! And very clean on the set up! I kept getting mesmerized by the video haha. Could you write out your board diagram the way all the pedals flow from beginning to end?
How are you making use of the stereo outs on the Tonex Pedal? My understanding was the only function on the Tonex Pedal that uses stereo is the reverb. Would be cool to see your signal flow in the HX effects, as I am running a similar setup without the outboard effects.
Since the ToneX is only mono in, I put it into the FX Loop of the HXFX, to place that block before any other stereo effects. Then I'm just returning stereo to ensure that the built-in reverb in the tone retains it's stereo image...hope that makes sense
Pro tip.. if you unscrew the base plate of the Dunlop mini, and flip it, you can put the rubber inside the pedal and put dual lock on the metal side for better stickage!
I'm currently working on my HX Effects and Tonex based pedal board setup as well and I wonder why you didn't make use of MIDI from Tonex and make some snapshots. I mean, at least for me, the whole idea of using digital effects it to make it as comfortable to use and, in this particular case, just to merge the HX Effects snapshot to align the set of effects in the front of Tonex, as well as the effects post the Tonex, to several Tonex presets.
That's a great idea...and I might do that for gain staging. I have just been getting used to the ToneX right now and staying on one amp, so not really changing stuff that line up with snapshots yet...but I probably will down the road once I settle in
I have a board with a nu-x amp Academy and separate delay reverb trem pedals in the loop plus an overdrive and clean boost in front. It feels clunky and I have noise issues with a cheap power supply. Before spending a couple of hundred pounds on a decent power upgrade I’ve bought a boss gx 100 to see if an all in one solution will work better for me.
What guitar are you using in this video? Maybe I didn’t watch enough of it yet to find out… I’m curious. I’m a gear hunter and like the trem that I can see in that guitar. Thanks!
Have you noticed a sound quality degradation running the Tonex into the FX loop of the HF FX? I've been doing that with my HX Stomp and theres a noticeable difference when compared to Tonex straight to PA. Curious as to how you have solved it.
From the CIOKS website: The Line6 Stomp requires 900ma for full operation and the HX Effects requires 1A. You will need to use a parallel flex adapter (#8800) and the yellow flex cable (#3050) to power it via two outlets from the DC7 set at 9V. Alternatively, you can also use the CIOKS CRUX to power the Line6 devices from the 24V outlet on DC7. This solution would free up two outlets on DC7. Just use a negative center pedal cable set at 9V (as provided with the AC-7) for the Tonex since it only draws 300mA. Note that CIOKS power supplies are very low profile, super quiet, true isolated power supplies. They easily mount on the bottom of a PedalTrain with the "CIOKS GRIP Bracket for Pedaltrain Pedalboards" (not the Mini-Grip).
hello, If you turn off all effects in the hx effects, and leave it with just clean sound from Tonex, no means bypass on the hx Effects, its colored the tone of the tonex preset , is like a tone sucker, like other multieffects?

@@HeyWorshipLeader I had the blue voodoo lab current doubler and about an hour and a half into worship practice, the HX Effects died... had me so sad... I took it home and used the provided power and it worked fine. From what I understand, the HX Effects needs around 1200 mA.
@@MrQueueBall Yeah, it needs slightly more then 1100. I use the Cioks DC7 and combining the two of the 650mA outputs in parallel is more than enough to power it.

Cool build and cool video. I like the ghostfire stuff too. Really not a fan of that Blues Jr sound. Clean wise it’s nice but the gain, not so much. Just my two cents. Digging the jet stuff and chorus pedal too.
it is...I've been messing with this new guitar and the input Trim inside the ToneX and it's better now...I just didn't notice as much when I was editing
Sadly, I have decided to return my Tonex. I was so excited about the exploding amp and cab capture universe for this platform, but there's one deal breaker... It sounds so great over the headphones and into the PC, but I cannot overcome the highly pronounced and unacceptable high-pitch microphonic-like clicking artifacts as the pick contacts the strings of my guitar in a live setting over our PA, which is my intended use at church. Has anyone else experienced this issue? It's not my guitar as the Humbucker-style pickup springs were replaced with surgical tubing to overcome any microphonic effects and this does not happen when playing into the PA with my existing pedals, with and without a Walrus Canvas Line Isolator. I tried to adjust it out in different Tonex settings but was not successful. If anyone has any helpful advice before I process the RMA, I will definitely give it a try.
