THERE'S A WURLITZER IN THE BASEMENT:
Model trains aren't the only thing lurking in the basement of Larry Fenner and Barry Howard's home in Lebanon, PA. The "Style 260" Wurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organ (Opus 501), originally built in 1922 for the Lafayette Theatre in Buffalo, NY, is their lifelong dream brought to fruition from over ten years of restoration. Built to accompany silent films and fill a huge 3,000-seat theatre with a symphony of sound, this "beautiful beast" roars from the basement of their home into a large living room. Organist Mark Herman demonstrates its versatility as a musical powerhouse.

Meanwhile in reality, I do have Hammonds in the house. Eventually plan to have a 4 manual Hauptwerk console for pipe and theatre organ.

Hauptwerk is a dream of mine too. I almost bought a little Baldwin Cinema organ but it was sold before I could work out transportation of the console :(
@@Charles-Reardon I'm considering building my own 4 manual console, I have four Nektar Impact G61 MIDI controllers and powered MIDI hub. The challenge is finding a pedal clavier with 32-notes, radiating, concave, AGO, with at least 1-2 swell pedals that all work over USB.
If I had the money, I'd order a Hauptwerk console from Mixtuur!

What a spectacular installation. Most of us would never hear it save for this kind of program. Mark, the program was outstanding, as always. I especially enjoyed the medley from The King & I. I consider this some of the finest writing from R & H. Sometime, if you are so inclined, I would love to hear you do a medley from Rose Marie.

Have you studied Louis Vierne's Organ Symphonies. The second symphony is a favorite of mine. I suppose all organists have to study the classics first before delving into popular standards. For technique if nothing else. Yes?

Would love to know the spec's. CLIff I worked on the install of the Wurlitzer in Panama, in the late 50's.
Don't know if this will be read but worth a shot. Hi Mark, I work in an aged care facility and the ones I care for love having a sing a long to instrumental music. Is there any possibility that one of your fantastic concerts could be made up of well known worldwide singalong songs for not only my resi's to enjoy but people in care all around the world. Thanks
