Nice comparison vid. One big difference you did not mention is that the NEX 6 has Wi-Fi while the MEX 7 does not.
what does wi-fi on a camera allow you to do? Do either have BTooth, and what would that allow you to do?

@@LieToMeAgain I have not received it yet as it is coming from Russia to US. It is the Jupiter-8 50 mm/f2. You can find reviews for it by searching on UA-cam.

Sony really couldn't make up their collective minds on what connectors/interfaces to use, it seems. That funky "hot shoe" on the NEX-7 appears to be inherited from Minolta; it matches the late Minolta film camera in my collection. Those HDMI jacks match the one on the NEX-5T, but the NEX-3N uses a smaller one that matches the A7R and a newer Handycam! They all appear to have the micro-USB connector, EXCEPT for the NEX-7, which has the mini-USB!
Yes, the NEX-7 is the last camera that used the old Mintola/Sony proprietary hot shoe. The first NEX bodies did away with the shoe completely in favor of a new proprietary plug and play accessory port. Their target market for the early NEX cameras was people upgrading from phones and point and shoots, but they eventually realized that mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras were competing with DSLRs not point and shoots. Thus the NEX-7 was a return to a much more traditional (rangefinder, not SLR) camera layout. Including the old Mintola hot shoe.

Nex 6 is better in dark and I think it's a main difference. Plus nex 6 no need remove batery, because you can charge with micro USB. I have both and nex 6 is better for me. 90% my photos taking inside or in night time.
Im on the fence as to which one to pick up. Ive had the NEX C3 since 2011 and has been great but I now want to shoot some stills/vids with a remote control & the aftermarket ones only work with the nex 6 or 7. what does wi-fi on a camera allow you to do? Do either have BTooth, and what would that allow you to do? Thanks !
@@MasterArmedforces Wi-fi only allows you to share photos faster than reading the SD card to your other devices, just a quality of life thing. No Bluetooth found on these cameras.

Nex 6 would be faster since it has Phase Detection Auto Focus
NEX 6 is a great value. I regret selling mine. NEX 7 is a better collector item. Regret selling that too. Ugh.
nex-6 has pdaf (99 points), nex-7 has no pdaf. i had a3000 (no pdaf), nex-5r (99 pdaf point) and a6000 (179 pdaf points). a3000 is way too slow while af correctly. therefore I would choose nex6/5r/5t instead of nex-7

No mic jack on the NEX-6 (or the a6000) and no phase-detect autofocus on the NEX-7. Grrr.

I was about to get a used Nex 6, but I found a Canon M6 for $300, almost the same price for a better camera.
Sony users use to overprice their old cameras.
i bought my nex 6 (w less then 5000 photo shot and some hours of video rec) with kit lens, 2 filter, 2 batteries, charger and a little bag for 300$, i don't think i overpaid this camera, e-mount lenses are awesome and there are more cheap solution then the other brand, as example there are like only 5 lenses for M canon mount and the new rf system literally count 0 3rd part brand lenses, i don't want to gettin troubles with adapters so...
@@golem_videomaking my M6 has a Yongnuo adapter and EF lenses work pretty well, focus is very fast too with the nighty fifty. I also got a Sony A6000 with few shots, kit lens and a filter for about $460.
But that was an exception, so was yours.
@ damn a6000 for 400 bucks is pretty good man, has the double of af focus point then nex6 right? btw, I wanted to take an m50 some time ago and I know that the adapters work, but the problem is mainly related to space for me
