Oh whoa i never realised all its transformations had this clean transition from actual body parts becoming the parts of the weapons! It all happens so fast i thought it would just simply be them swapping out the model for something else. What an achievement to morph it so heavily and have it look so seamless!

i always liked to think of nobodies in kh2 as being like 1 to 1 interpretations of classic final fantasy jobs. creepers always confused me because of this, but i think now they're supposed to be freelancers (a starter job with no specialization). this could make sense with how flexible their form and the different ways they can attack.
Yeah, I think you're right!! I hadn't noticed the close link to Final Fantasy jobs before, but it came up a lot in my research of Nobodies. Freelancer would definitely help explain Creeper's mannerisms! I looked up the wiki and this seems to fit perfectly: "Though they lack any specific skills or strengths, this serves as their only real weakness, as otherwise Freelancers are well-rounded in all areas of combat. Freelancers can equip mostly every piece of equipment on their respective games, and also being capable of using abilities from other jobs".
i want to suggest Mimic as a possible inspiration as well! its walk cycle reminds me of how Dusks move, and its ground-piercing spear attack is borrowed straight from the Dragoon Jump. guess i'm not too sure about the other animations tho lol. maybe they just like mimicking the shapes of various things they've seen? maybe the flat spinning disc move was borrowed from the Assassins when you parry them and they go all circular (or just axel's chakrams). and maybe the floating sword could be trying to copy the Samurai's floating sword attacks too? those would be a lot less obvious than the dragoon one tho lol
(wait now i think about it actually, the floating sword thing is something Exdeath from ff5 does too. and ff5 was the game that first introduced both the Samurai and Mime jobs... hmm)
Now I just want to see the rig for this thing. I always knew Kingdom Hearts had excellent animations (especially for a PS2 game) but I always thought the game handled the Creepers forms by doing quick model swaps since that's what games would normally do.
I do too! I was surprised to see how smoothly Creeper could actually transition between these crazy poses (the Sorcerer does it too). I'd love to know the animators' secrets cause if they did use swaps, it's very well hidden!
@@SaltedMallows Oh blend shapes? Could be! That might explain the intricacy of these poses. It's so hard for me to imagine the rig itself being able to push so far haha.
Kingdom hearts 2 has the most creative enemy designs in any kingdom hearts games I fricking love the nobodies no offense the heartless I love them and the unverse but the unverse kinda felt like heartless 2.0 for me gameplay wise I know lore wise they’re not heartless at all and just Vanitas’ negative emotions.
Ahh, the creeper.... the one generic nobody outside of dusks that doesn't have a direct "boss" of the organization... though somewhat fittingly dose happen to coincide well with the latter revealed and unofficial 14th member of the Organization. Possible foreshadowing?
@James Cool I think Xemnas is closer to the Sorcerer Nobodies then any of the others.... with many of his other tricks (like taking the abilities of recently defeated origination members) having to do with his unique power over "nothingness".
Kinda like zexion battle in reverse rebirth Riku's story... the ability to mimic riku's weapon..eventhough this nobodies doesn't belong to him..but the similarities are there. .
Dusk and creepers are generic nobodies they are basically the grunt that are commanded by everyone in the organization and doesn't have a specific member
I always found it interesting how it seems to copy the dragoon's spear attack, almost like a child trying to emulate his father.

I agree, it's insane! The Nobodies are so detailed and it's such a treat to watch!
This game on PS2 was a achievement and revolutionary.
ikr??

My new favorite series
I love this Channel
Def need to revisit this level. But on critical mode this time
Awwwww now I’m not gonna look at creeper turning into a sword without seeing the goofy ahh frame skip from creeper to creeper discus

These videos are awesome! Keep it up!
