Gary McCracken never got the recognition he so richly deserved in the drumming community. Awesome stuff!

If Rush didn't happen, Max would have been my favorite band. Love these guys.

Saw Max about a dozen times in my youth. They played my high school in St. Catharines one night then opened for RUSH in Buffalo at the Aud the next during the Hemispheres tour. Saw both concerts. Little known factoid --- McCracken and Peart formed a music company together but I don't know why or what it may have produced. Probably the most successful bar band known to mankind. They could have been so much more.

I believe Kim Mitchell is pretty content, with what's he accomplished. He needs no symbols, to know how Great, he is to Music. He's a Humanity-Based Musician, they don't come any better than that.
    🇨🇦✌🏻🎶🎸✍🏻♥️

Oh, and then there was the time I saw them at Hamilton Place where the concert began by the curtains opening and Gary being pulled from off stage left to center stage starting with a drum solo. A great way to open a concert.

No pitch correction or quantization. No digital modelling.
What you hear is what the band actually sounded like.
I would defy most modern bands to try to even come close to this level of musicianship and professionalism.

Yeah they're just tight, slick musicians. What a performance.

I GREW UP ON KIMS STREET, WHAT AN UNDERRATED GUITARIST, ....IN FACT THE ENTIRE BAND..... I AM A PROFESSIONAL DRUMMER AND A PROGRESSIVE ROCK FAN, GARY IS SUCH A TALENT.... LISTIEN TO IN THE WORLD OF GIANTS AND THEN TRY TO TELL ME BANDS LIKE TOOL ARE THE BEST...I GIVE THEM CREDIT BUT NOTHING COMPARES TO 3 BANDS FROM THE EARLY DAYS.... MAX WEBSTER, F.M. AND RUSH. ♥️

1978 - the Max Machine opened up for Genesis at the CNE grandstand. 1979 - the Max Machine invited a bunch of class stoners up on stage at Thornlea Secondary School in Thornhill, ON to belt out the intro to this tune. 2012 - how the hell can I remember all this happening?

Wow, I was in my 20s in the 1980s....and I've never heard of Max Webster! Hats off to fans, after all, there are people who can still stand Ted Nugent, too....

Right! That's Dave Stone. He'd been in the band FOUR DAYS when this performance was recorded. I've said it before and I'll say it again: way to step up to the plate Dave. He later went on to be keyboardist for Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow.

    • @nordvegfigg7746
      @nordvegfigg7746 4 роки тому

He played with Max after Rainbow. Max was his final big name gig. He moved out west and vanished for more than 30 years. Someone found him in 2013 and he did a long interview with them. Told some great tales of his adventures. The interview is online somewhere transcribed complete. Well worth the read.

With Dave Stone (ex: Blackmore's Rainbow, Dio's Rainbow) on keys. Terry Watkinson had already flown the coop.

I m listening to max webster and Kim mitchell again because there isnt any good writers or musicians out there to match 70 80s rock. These guys were amazing talents. I dare the kids these days to put some material together that matches this stuff. Double dare them!

I remember watching this when it aired!
Seen Max Webster many times back in the day...great band. My wife and I just saw Kim play here on Boxing Day at a local casino with Chilliwack...great performance by both...Kim was better than ever in my opinion...hasn't lost his groove at all :)
    Thanks for uploading this stuff!
