Thanks - great video. I was fortunate to have a therapist tell me several of these things when I was about 30 & it made the last 39 years so much better than they might have been, because I listened & incorporated her advice. Also, I just completed a Camino from Porto, Portugal to Santiago de Compostela, Spain. It was the ONLY time in my life that everyone wanted everyone else to succeed. Literally everyone helped & encouraged each other, and made no judgments about how people did "their own Camino." I think people get addicted to being in that Camino bubble because it's not the real world.
@@kerryjlynch1 God, isn't that actually kinda sad? 😅 So you're 69, and it was the FIRST time you experienced the unconditional support and celebration?! I mean, unfortunately I'm not surprised, but it really is wild. And by the way, that's incredible! Congratulations 🎉 Is that part of the Camino del Santiago, or is it completely different?
@@makelifemedicine I should have said that my Mom & Dad were usually pretty unconditional in their support, but that school, sports, & work were pretty brutal. Maybe it was the times & being male? I found out there are multiple routes to Santiago, & my friends & I picked the one from Portugal due to their time constraints. Hardest & best thing I've done so far.
@@kerryjlynch1 We really are shaped by so much more than just our primary caregivers. The socialization process can be so scarring for many people. That really is an awesome accomplishment! I would love to do it someday.
“Ability to act even when scared or unprepared” so good!! I just moved to a place I’ve always dreamed of definitely just benefited from that new mindset!
@@Ajourneyunfolding omg yes, when moving to a new place it's CRITICAL. It's too easy to isolate and live in your own little world, but we need connection and community, people and relationships 🥰
This is on point, at 54 I do agree with all you said. I would also add a couple things: "be aware the things society sells as standard or the only way to do things" also ' things do not are as they appear to be".
IMHO and personal experience, if you're not losing people when you start setting boundaries, then you're not really setting boundaries. Great observations here! Please keep going! I'm hearing you. Robert in NYC.
I was ready to write my criticisms. Sharpening the knives ready to write some killer sarcastic critiques. I guess I don't really have any. I am just like, hmmm, yeah. I should think about this stuff.
@@donniemoder1466 This made me laugh 😂 Geez, You were just anxiously waiting to come at me, huh? 😉 I really love and appreciate your honesty! I guess I'm glad I gave you some things to think about? 😏
Thank you ☺
I hope it was helpful! And if not, then at least slightly entertaining 😅
