    Thanks for a great endorsement of this radio. I'm a newly licensed HAM enthusiast and this is my first radio. I'm a little overwhelmed by the features of this radio and really look forward to a video regarding the operation and use of this unit. Hurry!

    Excellent, no nonsense info again, much appreciated.👍
    I pre-ordered and Mark asked if i wanted to wait a few months for the PX model and i love it. Mark is a legend, best customer service! :)
    I agree with you on all points, i dont have the Papa version but the high contrast options on the PX is great. I dont regret this purchase and would prefer it over the Yaesu, go figure. Lol. It certainly is not a regular Chinesium made radio.😊
    I have read in many manuals that you need to charge Lithium based batteries 3-4 times to get max juice out of the battery so that is normal. Maybe you noticed it a bit more as its larger than a basic HT battery, dunno but I love mine. I like your straight up reviews after using them and give the good and the bad. I bought mine with 2 extra batteries, the cable and software as its specific to this radio and easier for me but i didnt but a case or pouch yet. Buying from the US is a bit harder as I have to send via a friend or my eldest son who now lives in VA but I get my goods eventually. I'll have to check out your gear. My Wouxun is my favorite as well as the Anytone 868UVII Plus for DMR and APRS etc. I avoid Yaesu, merely because of complexity of use, but I do want a VX6, 7 or 8 one day. :)
    Thanks again. ;) 73

    I came across your page a week or so ago, first video was the UV-9R Pro review, but this video made my decision on my first HT. I’m just getting into amateur radio and have been ingesting a ton on a first ht to get. Of course leaned toward Beofang but this Wouxun was my second choice after some research. I couldn’t say yes to the Beofang because something didn’t feel right. I wanted something I’d carry awhile, quality, legal, and although may get me turned away by the hammy inner circles, but with a little dignity ;)
    Thanks for the video.

    Sucks that everything is a trade-off. I am looking for HT that is: budget (like $50-$125 ea so i can buy several) dual band, 5w or better, unified display, usb-C to radio and battery and has cradle, chirp compatible, two knobs is not required but a HUGE plus, water resistant, can be unlocked for GMRS and MURS and ham. cant find it. This KG-UV9PX is real nice, but its $200 and i am really trying to get everything to USB-C. KD9IRA

    Interesting review .. my Yaesu VX-6 (about 1 year old now) developed a problem with the squelch - VHF side only .. (I believe it to be a 61 cent ceramic filter problem (which has frustrated me to no end) .. sure I can hit the monitor switch to over-ride the automatic menu-driven squelch when I see the green light appear .. but really .. on a $250 unit ... ??? I disagree on the utility of a dedicated squelch control vs. menu controlled squelch ... sure, not a problem if using repeaters, but for simplex where squelch has to be tweaked more frequently.. a differnt issue indeed. So, do I replace or repair the VX-6 or do I get a radio that just works? .. . this is possibly a contender .. unitl my VX-6 developed its' problem .. I generally liked the performance; however, being the size of a pack of cigarettes .. it is too damn small for people who work with their hands .. now the Wouxun KG-935G .. it is built just about right! more comfortable to grip .. I may just go Wouxun KG-UV9PX at this point,. Tiny radios like the Baofeng, Yaesi VX-6 .. feel like toys in the hand .. and they get knocked over easily on a desk .. I want weight in a radio.. and I want that weight in the battery ... where the tradeoff is useful ..

      The Diamond SRH77CA works great with this. With that antenna it gives the FT-60 some real competition.

      I did. It involves downloading a little service program to make the changes. I will do a video on it ASAP. It's fairly easy to do. You can download the program here hamfiles.co.uk/index.php?page=downloads&type=entry&id=radio-programming%2Fwouxun-programming%2Fwouxun-kg-uv9d-plus-rss I had to sign up for an account but it was free. I could also try to email it to you but because it contains an executable program file I don't know if it can be emailed.

    I'm done with Baofeng. I have three different models, GT-3TP, UV-S9Plus and UV-5RT.
    all three of them pick up interference on both bands when out in the national forest, miles from any electrical or population area. when I tune the Wouxun KG-UV9GX to the same frequencies at the same time, I receive Zero interference on Wouxun. Wouxon is a far better radio than a Baofeng for filtering.

      Kind of, but it lacks the TDR button and none of the programmable keys can be programmed for that function. A genuine disappointment that I am hoping Wouxun corrects soon. I email them regularly requesting it and promise to buy two if they bring that version out. I have my fingers crossed.

    This one has 10 memory banks plus an all scan. - With all due respect says it does not

    • @KS6DAY
      @KS6DAY  Рік тому +2

      It has 10 scan groups. Each scan group contains 100 memory channels. The scan groups are organized numerically. Scan group 1 is memory slots 0-99. Scan group 2 is memory slots 100-199. And so it goes all the way up to scan group 10 which is 900-999. You can select any 2 scan groups as "Scan group A" or "Scan group B". You can then selectively scan by group A or B or elect to scan all channels programmed for scanning. It's not as effective as a Yaesu type memory bank system but it's better than nothing at all. I believe I mentioned something along those lines in the video.
