Transparent TVs: our appliances have always been changing how we build our houses and ESPECIALLY living rooms / Theater Rooms. Large CRT monitors were in mind when a lot of houses were built before LCDs became standard.
i've started watching you guys a bit for the last few months and I LOVE everytime matt has an explanation moment you guys use the powerpuff girls theme, it's awesome.
The US (and the world) is not ready for every single person to own an EV. The electricity infrastructure that we have simply cannot handle it. This is when you start getting rolling blackouts. California wants to ban gas vehicles, but yet, is also telling people NOT to charge their EVs. Please tell me how this makes sense.
Transparent screens are for the commercial market. “Home use” is just proof of concept and trials. Once it’s dialed in major commercial markets will be ripe. Think storefront … windows double as ad space. As well as showing how someone/thing could interact with the product behind the glass via video overlays
I am thinking more along the lines of mirrors. A rearview mirror that can be large, non obstructive, and less susceptible to being blinded when a Ram driver is behind you.
I live in Texas. In my experience, you can put indicators on every surface of the vehicle and the... special, drivers around here still won't use them. (that includes about 95% of the states drivers)
@@spwolftech Unfortunately that's most cities my dude, not just Texas. I think the OP meant navigation indicators such as Google Maps or Waze integration or Apple Maps, and probably speedometer.
@@yappingfornothing we do, but people are so busy using there phone that they don't look at it much, so now they want to put it on the windshield, in hopes that people might look at it instead of there phones and remember they are actually driving a car and not at home in a chair talking to friends.
Transparent displays sounds cool if someone can implement them into furnitures and glasses. Just them being standalone TVs makes no sense at all for normal people.
Transparent displays for general home use is going to be pretty gimmicky for a while I think. Where this tech is kinda exiting is the commercial and outside applications. Imagine augmented reality windscreens for planes and cars using this tech.
IF, and that's a HUGE IF, $3500 coudl get you a high functioning computer and a high quality monitor that's comfortable to use all day, that takes up 0 space... that's kinda wicked.
It would be cool if they could also figure out the black panel part that some of the transparent TV's have as well. Imagine if you could roll up black "curtains" all around your car when you're parked somewhere. Then you could have ahem um adult activities(or just get some sleep) in the car and NOBODY would ever know.
Transparent displays, you're looking at it wrong. It's not gonna replace displays, but transparent things like glass and plastics, billboards that can automatically update, menus right on the ordering window, meetings, so on.
The transparent TVs will change the way homes are designed. Imagine your sliding glass doors as your new transparent TV, I haven't measured the size of my sliding glass doors although I think it would make a great spot for a TV with a view behind it. Plus it would open up a lot of space in the house. I see all plusses in this category of new TVs
Yeah I was thinking about all the homes that the Boomers(and Baby Boomers) have(sorry myself, Millennials, and GenZ) and how they would likely love to have transparent TV's built into their windows. My mom would love it and so would the cats.
@@kingzach74 I agree that cats would go cray cray.. lol also it would be a kick to see the dogs go crazy too .. maybe it's time to start a UA-cam channel dedicated just for the crazy animals.. 😅😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
I feel like 2024 will be a very experimentative year for tech. Carrying on what's been started, AI, E Cars etc, but not quite getting any further than we have so far. It'll be a good year for creators to dip their toe in the water, but not much else.
First thing I was thinking when I saw the transparent oled was why not use it as a windscreen on a car... all dash info in sight and when you park up you can watch a movie :)
One thing I have thought about with the Apple vision pro, it could be extremely useful in a skilled labor based situation like a mechanic shop as you can look at specs and more while under or in a car working on it, aswell as find part sizes and order them straight from the headset. U will be able to find the exact tools you need and with the ai recognition technology and apple camera measuring technology you may be able to look in your toolbox and it highlights the exact tool, just been on the back of my mind
For the Samsung phones there was a dud like a week ago or so that posted a video of the Samsung booth and it had all of the folding phones and laptop and stuff
After hearing about windows 12 and focus on AI, macbooks seems more and more like a better choice. Microsofts Ai is on the same level of usefullnes as Bixby. Just there to annoy you and steal data
Transparent displays with touch screen we all can embrace are inner sci-fi nerdiness, (ok we all know where I'm going with this Right?), (NOW if we can get transparent displays that can be rolled up into a small form factor like in some sci-fi's where you have a tube and you just pull it apart and its a display Id want this!) OK, now on the self driving cars... 1: well I think self driving cars are not for everyone, some one with a totally clean driving record, nah they don't need it and probably don't want it. 2: Some one physically unable to drive or need help driving maybe if they are fully AI controlled and said person does not have to be in control at any given time. 3: THE BIG 3!!!! any one who has had multiple traffic violations, speeding, drink driving, texting while drive which caused a wreak or almost caused. Yes they could use this so we people who know how to mind our surroundings and pay attention to what we are doing then NO. This is just my thoughts on the subjects.
So xreal has a smooth follow and a pin in space. and they have for a while. SO i'm not sure if you know what you're saying. Are those glasses perfect? no not even close. Are they still good for certain things, yeah they are. lol
34 min ago.. had a fun long night many arrests in the lpd in vrchat. cuddle a friend and fall asleep to youtube. then wake up to a new vid. what’s going on
I'm just looking for non bulky AR glasses. Nothing crazy, just like the heads up display on some high end cars. Show me a text in my perifs, let me interact with Google, see what songs are playing and that's it.
The worst tech fail so far is thumb signs on sticks. Lol Unless you where born witout your own. And cant say anything, no larnyx or something. Lol. Good one!
Yo this comment is for Matt / Ken! Was great meeting you two at CeS, thanks for the advice!
wow nice!
Transparent TVs: our appliances have always been changing how we build our houses and ESPECIALLY living rooms / Theater Rooms. Large CRT monitors were in mind when a lot of houses were built before LCDs became standard.

Austin with the Kyle hat looks like Dark Helmet from Space Balls 🤣🤣

oh man windows 12 gonna be piece of shi* probably

What good has humanity done.... have you not had pie? Pie is like the most important food group on the food triangle
Transparent display use - smart mirrors, camera displays in cars (windows), etc
Transparent tvs are going to be just like the 3d tvs
Which is to say dead on arival?
Not necessarily. 3D TVs require the content to be made for it, transparent displays likely won't be common, but they won't disappear in the same way.
I'm all for Austin's big hat alter ego being "Boston".
I have zero interest in folding displays on any technology. It's such a stupid idea.
I’m gonna go park in Matt’s spot now.
When it comes to EVs, it's a thumbs down, for now.
Our infrastructure is not anywhere ready for it and they are not ready for long trips.
EVs in cold climate are still terrible. 300 miles claimed range becomes sub 150 miles and charging speeds drop from 150kw to 30kw.
Couldn't agree more. We just had a big winter storm here in the northwest, and thousands of EVs were left stranded because they wouldn't charge.
How can u give the switch 2 a thumbs down. Thats wild.
YESSSSS I hoped you'd do another one of these this year.
You guys are cool!
The transparent display could be a great addition to cars in a few more years. Just imagine indicators directly on your windshield

I thinking tranpartent displays for company’s might be used
Microsoft just bring back a new version of XP and everyone will be happy.
I think the teansparent display tech would be cool in cars, a windshield that has AR capabilities, that would be cool.

Austin with the giant ThisIs hat is Chad since Matt is Kyle
Has this winter weather not opened your eyes to the flaws of EV cars?
Transparent TVs would be a perfect way to play Coop on the same screen from different sides😅
That's not how that works. One side would be reversed.

Im confused, arent alot of a.r. glasses transparent, and then you can put a black layer over them? Essentially like LG Displays?

Can’t wait for the summer pc deals and toys lol love the vid bruh!!!!!
Austin sure wears that Donut tools shirt a lot. He's worn it for multiple videos recently

Austin's alter ego should be named Duncan
I'm terrified of driving, so a self driving car would be pretty nice and definitely a lot more affordable than a shofer

I have messaged Austin about this topic and would love to have a conversation about the use of ai and augmented reality in different industries
I am waiting for a folding iPhone.
Transparent OLED displays are stupid and will go away faster than 3D TV's. I'd bet bout anything
lets let matt stick to the wearing of the kevin hat, austin just dont got it in him, he sounds exactly the same as he always does lol
Transparent windows tv's on my house maybe?
The best use for transparent displays it's gonna be in cars windshields 😂
How is it the worst tech of 2024 when 2024 hasn’t even had a month yet 😂
For the Samsung phones there was a dud like a week ago or so that posted a video of the Samsung booth and it had all of the folding phones and laptop and stuff
There are already self driving cars that work on the freeway.
We have Boston at home.
The Boston at home:
16:01 PC ya later was right there Austin..
wouldn't the best use of transparent displays be actually competant AR glasses?
Could the transparent displays have a potential use case in car windshields?
with the transparent displays, i could see them taking of as windows for artificial views
i dont want AI bulshit on my machine.
Aquarium Tv. SAY NO MORE
unless you have cat/s
Imagine if the S27 does end up being that, wpuld be hilarious, he would be so excited lol
Thank you Matt for telling it like it is with Nintendo… they gotta go all out on switch 2 for me to even consider purchasing it
Galaxy s27?!
What about the 25 and 26 ?🥺
Crazy that the quest 3 does everything the apple headset is going to do for literally 7x less the price
It's apple....what do u expect and ppl will still blindly act like its the greatest thing ever😂

A transparent display is about as useful as a fly screen on a submarine. You really gotta just ask… why?
Windows 12? UGH...
Windows 11 is going to force me to install it on my 2 year old $7k workstation, causing its performance to decrease, ughX2...
