agreed a high IQ doesn't tell the full picture of success. for example you have a lot of professional athletes who aren't very smart but earn millions and are considered successful. if someone lacks IQ it is possible to become successful in other ways (eg. athletics, charisma)

Actually you're completely wrong, IQ is VERY STRONGLY correlated with how successful you will be in life. In fact, it's one of the only correlated factors with success at all. There are actual scientific studies that prove this conclusion that have been repeated time and time again. Higher IQ people are, on average, more successful in their lives. If you have a high IQ and you are not successful, you are one of the very, very few high IQ people who are failures. I hate to break it to you, but that's just reality.
The reason why racism is such a sensitive topic is because there IS differences between races. If there wasn't real differences, no one would really care about racism.

they used to be really popular, not as much now. they're used to measure intelligence using a bunch of different metrics. As Stefan pointed out they are good tools because their correlation to success is quite high. The differences in IQ between races are averages and don't represent every member in a given group.

Education has zero effect on IQ, only on acquired knowledge. IQ tests measure raw intelligence. Academic tests (like SAT / LSAT etc) measure acquired knowledge. People in colleges tend to have high IQ because academia attracts people with high inborn IQ, not because education "gives" them IQ. It's the same thing as height in basketball players: they tend to be tall because basketball attracts tall people, not because playing basketball "magically" makes people taller.
The only way something can be done is by knowing why the difference exists. I would think environment would definitely play a part.

So if It was that logic that 30 point gap was genetic.... See the issue the genetics have barely changed.
Ex. Being from a highly religious group decreases Iq by as much 15 points
Ex. Beating severly children decreases iq

I was gonna try to explain it but I don't think I'm educated enough to explain it fairly.
You should take a stat class.
It would suffice to say that it allows you to calculate bell curves for races (although racial line are arbitrary)
family groups
random groups be of individuals
And
although more complex thier offspring
And you can use it to calculate what is essentially a probability wave for an individual iq based on genetics the more specific its the genetics the closer to the .8 correlation you can get.
With a total genome you will have a correlation between .4 to .8
After environmental factors
For example.
If I find a guy know his code and he has an iq of 70 and his family all have an iq of 70
Ok after enviromental factors his iq is 70 and that is to a correlation of .8 so each individual has a little bell curve of we're you currently fall with the current environment
So if I change his environment his iq could be 30 point more or less depending WE DO NOT understand intellegence enough YET. To claim we know the upper limit of out intellegence or the best way to teach.
In the future
It might be better to just wire your brain to a computer and it downloads an Iq of 200 to your brain. Do you get it ?

He's good at this stuff and breaks "race" data down to a much more nuanced level. He also seems to be on the nurture side of the nature/nurture debate.

Blaming everything on Racism is in itself the product of extreme ignorance.
I don't find it incumbent on me to feed you the resources you need to educate yourself. However if you look at the census data regarding educational attainment of Nigerian Americans you will find that they attain a substantially higher level of education than the average American with a greater percentage of members continuing to graduate and professional education. Even if you were not convinced of the group's academic superiority to white people you would have to concede the groups achievements in comparison to black Americans which would therefore discount the idea of hereditary racial differences as a plausible reason for economic and mental corruption of the black community.
Check out Thomas Sowell also if you're interested in analyzing the research on this topic which seems to resurface every 10 years as if it was new. There is a video on youtube where he speaks with William Buckley extensively about what the data says and what conclusions we may draw (and have drawn much to the disdain of fake scientists).

You might consider stereotypes to be racism but stereotypes are formed from observed habits specific groups of people display. Stereotypes are not accurate but are not always unrepresentative of a type/group of people ether so you really have to think carefully about situation, context and intention before passing thing off as racist.

It isn't scientifically controversial, humans add controversy to it. Saying the sun is the center of the solar system was INCREDIBLY controversial at one point, because many people had religious beliefs that presumed God put Earth at the center of his creation and men were made in his image. I once attended a youth conference with participants from more than 20 countries. There was a group session that included a puzzle game as an ice breaker. There was some computation, visual manipulation and cooperation skills required to solve the puzzles the shortest possible time. There were two groups of mainly Koreans who completed the puzzles before anyone else for both rounds. Incidentally the group with more Korean males finished first both times.
There was another group with Germans that finished 3rd then the rest of us.

However, you do need to be intelligent to play the "down-the-middle" positions (e.g. quarterback) in American football, and it's these positions that are filled almost entirely by white people. My theory is the ancient inhabitants of Africa and the Middle East never had to change their behavior much to adapt (permanent structures, farming, metallurgy, etc.), because the nomadic lifestyle was sufficient for survival, and average temperatures were not too cold. Whereas people who migrated into Europe faced colder temperatures and brutal winters, and thus were forced to think creatively and proactively to survive and pass on their genes. Thus, intelligence was selected for in the gene pool, and passed on over successive generations. This selection mechanism resulted in markedly higher IQ after thousands of years. It’s a simple explanation for IQ differences between Europe and Africa, and does not require any racist conclusions

What is your evidence for this? You say its your theory. Are you a scientist? Would you say that is true now? If not now, why would it have been in other eras? Were women the ones choosing mates thousands of years ago?
I would say, just from observation, that most women do not choose mates based on the single variant of intelligence (assuming the choice is made by the female, which I believe is more the case very recently more than in most of human history). Intelligence is measured how? Do women now have prospective mates tested for IQ? Did they ever? No. Now (that they are in a position to choose, at least in the emancipated societies) they choose the "best" they can find that will have them based on a number of traits, certainly not just intelligence.
Scientists are still guessing at heritability vs cultural influence on intelligence (personally, I think there is confirmation bias in scientists who study genetics and place more emphasis than actually exists. Why? Because we can never study a person outside of culture, even a shared culture, even in the same family). The study of identical vs fraternal twins shows that identical twins have more similar IQ scores so that tells us that genetics is involved at all. But no one has ever suggested genes play no role. After all, intelligence doesn't fall down from the sky into our brains. BUT, the best available research shows that culture is far more important than genes in regard to intelligence (i.e., the Flynn effect).
Studies in Scotland and Ireland from the 70s forward comparing the once significant differences in IQ than those of the English have all but vanished. Why? Biological evolution does not occur in such a short time frame. Also, studies in Kenya in the last couple of decades show vast improvements in IQ. What changed there? Resources into nutrition, education, health.
So, whatever differences in intelligence there may be genetically between people are virtually meaningless compared to socialization methods. New-borns don't have "high IQ" so we can't test IQ it then. The best we can do is NOT assume some people are more genetically ignorant than others because that -- and studies show this -- predisposes them toward lower intelligence. Even teachers who praise children for innate intelligence vs effort can psychologically help or hinder children (effort increases more effort and risk taking, innate ability retards it).

Wrong. This is not the way genetic science works. The reason we see vast differences in IQ in blacks born in the US, for example (they have not been out of Africa long enough for the kind of genetic evolution you're talking about) is because of culture (mostly parenting or mentoring). theawecabinet it is clear that this guy is misrepresenting what Stefan has said. No point drilling him for any explanation. Stefan only went as far as to state the facts and their possible repercussions. His statements are no different to just saying Usain Bolt(a black man) is the fastest man in history, or that black athletes are on average 0.3 seconds faster than whites in the 100 m sprint(as evidenced from thousands of sprint events since the beginning of the modern Olympics). No one with more than two brain cells would deny these facts but suddenly when we talk about intelligence it's racist to acknowledge any kind of difference. This is pathetic in my view, a form of regressive hypocritical self deception that will only serve to stifle their progress and perhaps even in the end hinder the progress of our society as a whole.
Now this does not mean that all black people should feel inferior because as Stefan and countless others have stated these differences are evident in large numbers, when we look at people individually it is an entirely different game where you shouldn't be surprised to find countless genius level black people cognitively indistinguishable from other geniuses. In fact no one regardless of acuity should ever feel inferior. Imagine a world where black people were indeed as smart as white people(on average) so now not only are they better athletes but they are just as smart. Would it not be reasonable to assert(at least by those two metrics) that they were the "superior" race? Of course this example is hypothetical and you and I both know that it is silly to try to evaluate people in that way let alone declare one race superior to another(in a general all encompassing way). There is so much more to what makes us human. So lets make sure we avoid using words like superior or inferior(after all no one is sub-human) and realize that there is nothing wrong with pointing out some obvious facts of life. Black people are better power athletes(among other things) and white people tend to be smarter, so fucking what. In my mind this kind of evens out in the end, no one person or race is ideal or perfect, we all have our strengths and weaknesses. That doesn't mean we should stop trying though and black people(and increasingly regressive white people) need to realize this more than anyone and stop whining because whining never got anyone anywhere(except perhaps 5 year old kids), only hard work and a good attitude does.
At the end of the day though none of this matters, not race not nationality not any kind of ideology, what matters is your character, your values your principles the way you live your life and the way you treat other people. That said, measuring for virtue is pointless.
All people having the same level of virtue is the same thing as there being no such thing as virtue. You could say all people have the same capacity for virtue, which I pretty much agree with and why I called it the great leveler. The point is that IQ doesn't incline anyone toward virtue, and therefore it's not actually inherently valuable. It's a tool, and like all tools it comes down to what you do with it. If you do terrible things with it then it would be better to not have the tool at all. Virtue, like IQ, height, and other natural phenomena most likely has a normal distribution(bell curve) shape across large populations.
While there is a possibility that some sub groups have evolved to be more or less virtuous given the environmental variables they faced through history, until a study is conducted on the subject, Occam’s razor tells us that the default position is that all groups have the same mean level of virtue.
That said, introducing it into the discussion is pointless because it cancels out when comparing one race to another and therefore doesn’t add anything to the discussion whereas IQ has been quantifiably measured to be different across subgroups.
It is sad but the more I look into it the more I agree with Stefan's view on this. Funny how many people think that our skin is the only organ subject to evolutionary pressures.

I think utilising the current global heavy weight results doesn't fairly address the genetic race issue as it is being discussed.
If you look at Boxing in the USA, where blacks are 13% of the population they make for significant proportions of the professional boxing community, far out stripping the white or hispanic populous.
currently globally , which collectively has a vastly higher population ,numbers wise and vastly more whites in these populations than the US population creates a higher chance of having white boxers getting to compete in the higher sphere.
and to my mind the likes of the Klitchko brothers were partly fortunate in their timing, as they were boring as shit to watch fight, they were just goddamn big and tough, and Tyson Fury at 6ft 9in is just an aberration, bugger all talent just crazy big and awkward.

I am an accountant with an MBA while my father is a Chemist with a PhD (also has a master in oceanography). I have never tested my IQ and have no plans to test it at the moment since it is not personally relevant. I have been called smart/intelligent by my father, bosses, co-workers, acquaintance, etc...Personally I don’t think I am smart, I find I am average with passion/responsibility/individual accountability and ability to learn/adapt/reason when I am required or interested in something.
I don’t think race realism or IQ is problematic to the individual or societies. On the contrary, I think studying and acknowledging the reality they present may help society (I.e gov’t) better assist each individual reach success as it relates to that individual. For instance low IQ (or lacking in certain areas per IQ) can be improve with education, positive culture (not glorifying criminality (especially violent ones), etc...

My issue is that IQ tests aren't that helpful. But it's whatever, always do the best you can do and never worry about what these people say.
So does this conclusion mean blacks just need to push harder to accomplish what whites are capable of accomplishing and if so how can we set up a system where they’re more capable of reaching those goals? If we are going to argue that it’s genetics when we have blacks with IQs equal to or greater than the average white person then clearly blacks are capable and environment plays just as much of a role if not more despite their genetics. I agree with him. it's a one of the harder facts I've had to grapple with. I think the key is to not look at it from a collectivist perspective and look at individuals. Despite the statistical reality, it is a bell curve and there is more overlap then not.
The thing is that this fact is more relevant when talking about collectives than individuals.
Let me explain what I mean by this. An individual black university student chosen completely at random could be doing great or could be doing poorly. But the black student body as a whole is expected to perform below average, so finding that to be the case during grading, since it IS a priori statistically expected, should not immediately worry you about bias.
You can deal with ppl as individuals in your own life, but when it comes to politics, you can only look at groups as collectives

I scored a 95 IQ when I was 16 years old. Through the years I thought I was an under achiever, so I had to work harder in studying and career to get better. I entered college and finished my MBA in a university in California. Now I have two major companies that I manage, and a few minor businesses on the side. To add another milestone, I am about to launch a startup company. I took another IQ test just last year, I am now 42 years old. My score is at 130 percentile.
Where does this race and IQ hold. It did not seem to matter in my life.

Gawein Singson that’s exactly what I found. I found my IQ increased to 126 when I took an IQ test at 40yrs old. So, I am also wondering if there is a cut off point, where you cannot go any further. And, if people can continue to raise their IQ exponentially......why can’t ALL people? If this IQ Curve is true, then there is a fix for it.
Frankly, I enjoy your story because you made an informed choice. I think what people seem to disregard is the stance Stefan has is based primarily on natural IQ and the statistics accrued which are often multivaried analysis with environmental factors accounted for, which will showcase trends as well as outliers such as yourself as this data often collected and charted is continuous rather than a discrete value which each member of a race cannot break away from. The point of these statistics is to gather information and observe phenomena. However what public and private sector organisations do with that info, or how people chose to interpret data is up to them. Don't blame information, when the convictions one has and actions they take based on their interpretation of information is what we should truly be testing.
At the end of the day, just by definition, your anecdotal evidence of natural IQ not being a determinant of future success and a test score being improved is an anecdote. Its a powerful and inspirational anecdote detailing how of an individua employed effort and achieved. For reference, Stefan himself has an IQ test score of 100 from years and years ago. Nobody could say he's better than young you purely because of that 5 point difference. That would be a ridiculous supposition.
You at 16 with a score of 95 saw it as unfair to be put out of the running at the time,.and it fueled you. However as long as you're not below 70, or the minimum operating IQ to survive in modern society, you always have a shot.
To finish up on that tangent, I have observed that being informed and taking the effort to think, regardless of one's starting line are often good indicators of succeeding further down the line. Unlike NWA, I didn't believe being born black meant I was DOA, nor my IQ test score of 125 at 16 being an automatic slam dunk, as my 5'11" height and average 29" vertical leap would attest for actual slam dunking. I had friends with higher and lower scores. Those who've progressed so far despite their score have the common trait of applying what one learns in reality and emptying out the useless once it shatters upon contact with reality and addressing why your application failed. Those who succeeded at every level around me weren't so convinced of their bias that they picked up the shattered pieces of what has already failed.
An IQ test is still a test, and as we all know, and I've realised in university, tests have some benefits in encouraging one throigh tangible deadlines and requirements to look over and revise if they don't seem to be motivated by the repercussions of not meeting said requirements, when success in the tests may be key to achieving your goal further down the line.
One thing they aren't the best judge of is assessing anything you've learnt in comprehensive depth and breadth. Instead it's a test on your reasoning under time restrictions, and how adept you are at long term memory accrual for a fixed syllabus of topics making up an infinitesimally small part of an entire subject.

But we will need larger data sets to come up with finite answers. Also. IQ is based on strong focus and attention span. When persons tested on their IQ are given longer periods to answer the tests, they are capable of answering the tests better, and thus improving their scores. Another finding that should be further researched and tested.

My personal experience suggest that when I have time and good study environment I easily pass all my exams quite well. 2:1 in Business management (BSc)2:1 in finance and investment management (MSc) both done full time with parents paying for everything. No part time work, no worries about fees,books,food,accommodation, student loan etc My only responsibility was to go for lectures, hit the library and study. My experience with my ACCA professional accountancy certification highlights my position that environment and expectation is by far the most important determining factors in educational performance. My first 7 ACCA papers were passed at average of B grade simply because I did it pretty much full time. My performance dropped drastically when I started working full time and had a kid and I had to drop it. Same person but different outcomes. If my parents didn't give me that level of comfort early on, I'm not sure I would have done well in BSc and MSc. Originally from Nigeria now live and work in the UK as a finance analyst.

So yes, once you stop treating women and minorities as second class buffoons, of course they're going to do better at intellectual tasks and yes, of course you can to some degree practice pattern recognition, just like you can practice your jump shot. Either the IQ test accounts for that or it doesn't. It's probably something you need to take multiple times to get an accurate score

In a way yes, but I would argue that these are different facets or applications of a certain type of intelligence. Not to get to deep into semantics, but basically, if you do good in one of those areas, you generally do well in the others; there tends to be a parallel effect. This is actually what G (G factor, simply stands for general intelligence) represents; the thing that drives the correlation between those areas. So, whether you divide it up into different components or not, the fact remains that it is still limited.

First of all, of course he's going to have people on his show that support his position, thats why it's important to look at other research that is not cherry picked for an agenda. Who is "they"? Is the only research you've seen on this topic been from Stefans show? Because overall, this is a pretty fringe position. "An article in November in the journal Nature by Price and her colleagues is one example. It had 33 adolescents, who were 12- to 16-years-old when the study started. Price and her team gave them IQ tests, tracked them for four years, and then gave them IQ tests again.
The fluctuations in IQ were enormous. I'm not talking about a couple points, but 20-plus IQ points, one way or another. These changes in IQ scores were not random - they tracked very nicely with structural and functional brain imaging. Suppose the adolescent's verbal IQ really went up during that time; it was verbal areas of the brain that changed.
There are quite a large number of other studies showing IQ can change. Many of the changes in IQ are correlated to changes in schooling. There could also be environmental reasons for low IQ, like living in hidden mold, close to chemicals/toxins, low quality food, heavy metals in the brain, etc. Those things cause brain swelling. After various tests, I have an IQ ranging between 135-138. I’m black and come from Nigeria. Maybe it’s my upbringing or education. I moved to Europe in my early 20s for uni and always came on top of the class. I tend to be better than most Caucasians in my craft / talent and I’m well sort after. I can only speak for myself.
I have to say, I don’t like how he says it’s heartbreaking. Like isn’t it already obvious? There’s no surprise to this. I’m a realist and always speak the truth. The west I’ve noticed like to mask a lot of things like the divorce court, feminism, black lives matter, LGBTQ, etc.. in the name of liberalism. It will be your downfall.
As a fellow Nigerian with a well above average IQ, I'm not exactly how this sort dialogue is productive, at least not in the United States. The data seems to suggest that Nigerians are the most educated immigrant group in the US so it clearly wouldn't alter immigration policy. If our goal is the creation of a more equitable or egalitarian society, I seriously doubt these conversations produce anything other than fuel for the racial superiority types and I think we all know what they're capable of. I think we're all much better off in a world where someone doesn't immediately make an assumption regarding your intellectual capacity upon a brief inspect of your complexion.

Educational nurturing during the first 5 years of a child's Homelife is critical and is directly connected to IQ levels later in life. Single parents of multiple children have great difficulty working with their preschoolers, especially if the parents are poorly educated and have poor reading skills. If a child learns his ABCs, colors and to count to 10 by the time they are in their 3s they will have greatly increased chances for a higher IQ. Nurture over nature is possible!

2. IQ is highly affected by your education, at home and in school, an in what environment you are born in and which of you strengths get promoted.

That's not entirely true, even when looking at people by race and by economic background in the US, there is still a clear trend along racial lines when it comes to academic achievement. Environment definitely does affect an a person's IQ, but it's not a continuous thing. Race does affect this, on average. Pseudoscientific bullshit! Stefan is no scientist, so for him to speak so confidently on this repeatedly debunked hogwash is pretty laughable. He's spouting off a bunch of observations, but fails to make distinctions about the historical racial inequalities of blacks in America. Take African immigrants who come to America, for instance. They tend to OUTPERFORM their white, black, and hispanic American counterparts pretty consistently. Stefan is a terrible case study of someone who is intent on having you believe that correlation equals causation.

I guess.... Here's my thing: what do you reasonably expect blacks to do with this information? I'm black myself. So once I accept that I apparently am just lower IQ than everyone else, do I just go into full victim mode and accept making less money, etc. for the rest of my life? I'm very confused about the practical implications of this knowledge. (before anyone gets mad, please note that I am not calling it racist, I am not "offended" or "triggered" I just genuinely don't know of a productive way that blacks should react to this knowledge. I mean, if we just evolved worse than everyone else, and that's the message that you all seem to want pushed out to the general population, I just don't see how this would possibly encourage anyone to do better. Saying "it's all just genetics, biology, etc." kind of leaves people trapped in a way).
Like Stefan said, if it was just "racism" it would be a solvable problem. But if it's not, he's basically implying, "too bad, so sad, nothing to be done" which would be fine except again, then why would anyone bother to do better.... It seems very helpless to me.

Though I like Rubin and am grateful to him for exposing us to new ideas and thinkers, he's starting to get on my nerves with this veiled 'good cop' shit he does during interviews. He perpetually makes comments and asks questions in such a way as to validate his own thesis and what he thinks he knows.
They talked around it, not through it:

The speakers and commenters alike are pretending not to understand why this is so hurtful when the matter is obvious, which aggravates me even more.
Western culture does not value athletic, and creative ability beyond its entertainment value. These are looked at as a temporary, short-lived, throwaway talents (and thusly the person attached to them). Anything of the body is worth less than anything of the mind, as intellectual acuity is seen as the gateway to power and success. This is the way our value system in society is arranged. This is why *nobody* likes to be rated low in intelligence. This is also why it is far more tolerable, even validating to not have athletic or creative abilities but be considered quantitatively 'smart'.
Factual or not, this idea can be employed dangerously if it not handled with care, and to date, it has not been. If there isn't isn't some finer context and diversity of perspective brought to this conversation, it's going to get out of hand. This is this very line of reasoning that made whites think it was a good idea to enslave and condition blacks in ways that invalidated their humanity. This was also the similar line of thinking that had white Germans thinking they were better specimen than Jews.
The whole tenor of this conversation is missing nuance and shared facts about what an IQ test actually is and the biases inherent in the structure of the testing. I'm quite sure that if you asked a non-Westernized person halfway across the world to create a test to measure what he thought was intelligence, you'd get quite a different kind of examination and outcomes. This is about the 3rd or 4th conversation I've seen from this troupe and it really needs to be handled far better than it has been to date.
I think you have some interesting points, and I would like to suggest some things for you to think about.
I'm not sure why you listed creative ability with athletic ability and not something of the mind.
I think current Western society values qualities that are deemed necessary for success in the current culture. What I mean by this is that there seems to have been a shift in the culture in the past few decades due to the age of the computers. Before computers, the quality a person needed most to be successful was likeable/athletic. The high school quarterback/golden boy was seen as the one who was going to be successful in life. After the age of computers, when jobs shifted to have more technological/intellectual components, this started to change. The scrawny, socially awkward nerd is now seen as the one with more potential for success. You can see this change very clearly in movies, if you look at how jocks/nerds were portrayed decades ago as opposed to today. So, I'm not saying you're wrong, but it hasn't always been this way. I think what we value as a society has shifted multiple times.
I disagree with your comparison to slavery and Nazis, however. Any rational person realizes that there are things they are going to be better at than other people, and vice versa. According to this video, it seems that one could make generalizations that there are things their race might be better at than other races. But I don't think any rational human being believes that because they are better than someone at something, that are better than them at everything. Slaves and Jews were completely dehumanized, there are miles between noting someone is your intellectual inferior to wrongly classifying them as an inferior human being.
To further this point, I would like to point out another thing to consider. The Jews were specifically targeted during the Holocaust not because they were inferior, intellectual or otherwise. It was because they were performing exceptionally well. Hitler choose to target Jews because they tended to be wealthier, more educated, more likely to be business owners, and had much more than the average person in Germany at the time (they were basically in a sort of Depression due to being responsible for reparations to several countries because of the first world war). He pointed out that Jews were doing well, encouraged envy, and then convinced people their gains were ill-gotten. That Jews were evil. Subhuman. That what they had should belong to everybody.
Kind of like what people say about Republicans/Caucasians/Asians/Jews today.

In the summer of 1965, I worked in the Head Start program in Brooklyn NY with mostly Hispanic and black four and five year olds. Head Start was supposed to give them an edge in school, but a Dept. of Education report in 2010 declared it to be a $100 billion flop. Whatever gains the kids made in Head Start were lost by the third grade. Very sad.
