- Watch this video to learn about Binocular Vision Dysfunction, and how treatment with realigning prismatic eyeglass lenses has impacted their colleagues and their patients:
Additional information:
Binocular vision dysfunction (BVD) is the umbrella term used for any form of eye misalignment.
Those with gross eye misalignment experience diplopia, while those with subtle misalignments usually don’t - instead they tend to experience headache, dizziness, anxiety, motion sickness, nausea, neck pain, ADHD, learning / reading challenges, gait imbalance and light sensitivity.
Current research is demonstrating that subtle misalignments are very common, impacting at least 10% of the population.
When the subtle misalignments are treated with realigning prismatic lenses, the average patient reports an 80% reduction of symptoms.
Headaches? Dizziness? Nausea? Reading Challenges? ADHD?

I’ve lived with this for so long. I am waiting for an appointment for lenses
We hope you are able to get an appointment soon! To gain a full understanding of what's going on with your eyes and how to reduce your symptoms, visit vision-specialists.com to connect with a trained clinician in treating BVD.
Very interesting! What dioptre of prisms do you use?
Thank you! The diopter strength of prisms can vary depending on the individual’s needs. Typically, we mostly use prism diopters ranging from 0.25 - 2 diopters for patients with small amounts of misalignment, but the specific prescription is determined after a comprehensive NeuroVisual® evaluation. A NeuroVisual trained specialist are expertly trained to prescribe the exact amount of microprism. I have all this and more and I'm close to being unable to drive. Where in southwest Florida can I see a specialist??
Hey there! You can check out all of our specialists locations on our website: vsofm.com
im in the same boat, ive been a car guy my entire life. i used to love driving. 9 months ago it hit me like a train and i had to give it up. ive been thru every aspect of the medical system and nothing turned up, im actual in amazing shape for my age and field of work. but i found BVD and started digging and while i am still trying to manage expectations i really feel that nothing else fits as perfectly as far as symptoms go.
what are the long term effects of wearing prism?
Great question! Long-term effects of wearing prism lenses typically include improved alignment and reduced strain on the eyes, leading to better overall comfort. However, it’s important to have regular check-ups with your eye care professional to ensure the prisms are still providing the correct amount of correction
Doesn't your visual system get lazier with prisms, therefore needing more and more prism power overtime?
Couldnt i just do base up and base out vision therapy?
Hi Charlie, Great question.
Prism helps people with true vision misalignment feel better, and once the correct amount is determined, it changes very little over the pt's lifetime. In the course of caring for over 15,000 patients over the last 25 yrs, we have never once had a pt need more and more prism, what some people refer to as "eating up prism".
As for vision therapy, it does seem to be helpful for some patients, but it has also failed to help many. It has been our experience that if a misalignment is present, we have been able to help these patients using prism lenses.
A comparable situation might be using a heel lift in someone's shoe. If the person has one leg shorter than the other ("leg length discrepancy"), the heel lift will even out the length of that shorter leg, leading to an elimination of their limp, and reduction of the pains associated with the limps (knee, hip, back). Once the correct amount of lift is determined, it will not change much over the pt's lifetime. Exercising the leg to make it stronger will not help reduce the symptoms of a leg length discrepancy.

Thank you kindly for your detailed responce. It was very shocking to me hearing peoples symptoms in your videos describe mine to a tee. Ive always suffered with vague symptoms such as constant eye tension around the eyes, never having the feeling comfortable vision even when "20 20", uneasy driving in general specifically highways, and people complaining i cut into their path while i walk beside them. Anxiety in crowded places as if my vision is unable to focus in one spot and instead sees everything broadly at once.
When I bring them up with eye docters they can never find whats wrong with my eyes and chalk it up to anxiety. My theory after watching your videos is i may have a slight, hard to diagnose intermittent vertical misalignment which has evaded standard testing. I also notice my symptoms worsen greatly with lack of sleep and alcohol consumption as if they lower my ability to compensate for a vertical misalignment.
I scored 50 on your online quiz, which anything over 15 should be checked out. My problem is I'm in Sydney Australia and it seems like you have only 1 optician here in Perth on the otherside of the country.
Do you happen to know anyone in Sydney that is trained in your techniques of finding subtle deviations and treating them?
If not do you expect to train any opticians in Sydney anytime soon?
I can't thank you enough for your eye opening videos and I feel a little less crazy now knowing others have an identical symptom set as I do.
@@wsportsworld4274 Hi Charlie, We're happy that our videos and symptom quiz could help shed some light on what you might be causing your symptoms. Unfortunately, Dr. Taylor is currently our only specialist based in Australia. We would love to train more specialists across the country! If you have an optometrist who you like and prefer who is close to you in Sydney, we'd love an introduction! Otherwise, Dr. Taylor is your best bet at the moment - he is a very detailed and intuitive clinician. Even though it might not feel convenient, he is our only NeuroVisual specialist who is trained outside of the US! So in that regard, you've lucked out. We hope to train more international doctors as the COVID-19 pandemic begins to subside. Keep us posted on your future treatment and journey to finding relief!

Yeah I've contacted Dr Taylor for an initial assessment.
Thanks again
@@wsportsworld4274 how did you go? Having the same symptoms as you, but have no idea who to see about it. Being up in Coffs, theres no one around here that specialises in this
can eye glasses fix all this problems? I have dizziness all the day my eyes pain and I feel nausea
We would have to assess all of your symptoms. Please visit isitmyeyes.com to take our questionnaire and we may be able to help you.
How do you feel now
I have recently been diagnosed with disseminated chorioretinitis in my right eye and I am being treated with prednisone. The blind spots are clearing and my vision is becoming clearer, but I am now experiencing some image distortion that seems to be similar to binocular vision. Could Prismatic Lenses help correct this problem? I am only into my 3rd week of treatment and have a ways to go before I know where the quality of my vision will settle.
I feel like vision therapy is more crucial than the lenses but I might be wrong.
Thanks for reaching out! We'd love to chat more about the subject because there are a lot of nuances we've researched that enable us to make a dramatic impact with a lens-only approach with prism. Contact us at contact@nvminstitute.org to continue the conversation.
