For me Sifan Hassan at London Marathon - she appeared injured about halfway through but came back and won in an amazing sprint finish. Totally badass
I'd put Kipyegon on top. 5000m world record followed by the mile world record by 5 seconds is pretty outstanding to me. Yeah, the 5000m record got broken but she still had it for a bit.
I agree Kipyegon was the most dominant athlete this year and broke THREE world records in the space of a month
@@StewNWT I stand corrected. I keep lumping her one mile and sub-3:50 1500m world records together. Records were falling so fast in 2023 I'm having trouble keeping my scorecard updated! 😵💫
@@crosslink1493 the 1500 should be number one. First woman under 3:50 an event that’s run rfrequently.
Your videos are so high quality, you're a really good narrator too. I just love your videos!
Thanks for making great videos, but can you please just title things normally? How would anyone know that "We Had No Idea..." and "Never Again" would be a top 10 video? Your content is good enough without having to resort to these weak YT tropes.
Your fanbase appreciates you.

The Arkansas women's relay record is also interesting bc it happened at altitude! The Albuquerque Convention Center is somewhere around 5300 ft. The origin of this track is also interesting. It was apparently purchased 3rd-hand, in New/Unused condition, from cold storage in Canada for half the track's retail value. The Canadians apparently acquired it from the LA Staples Center who purchased the track originally but rejected delivery.
This was such an impressive year! I Love this highly of the year.
just a matter of time before sifan hassan breaks the WR
she just needs to go head to head with assefa.... would be wondrous to watch them both
Jesus Loves you so much! You may not think it but there is a reason you’re seeing this. He wants you to know Him so you Two can have a Relationship:)❤️❤️❤️😊😊😊😊😊❤️❤️❤️
Wishing you a very happy new year.. Thanks for all the video this year
I just want to see a sub 12:30 5k. That will be so monumental. Idc who does it
Jakob
A great review. Thanks for covering the sport so thoroughly.

I saw Komen’s two mile second best time from the back straight in Sydney. Amazing.
Hey TRP, for this off-season can you please make a documentary video on an important track and field event which happened some time ago. Like the video of the two sub 3.27 1500m. I really liked to watch that
What a year! Thanks for the video.
Jesus Loves you so much! You may not think it but there is a reason you’re seeing this. He wants you to know Him so you Two can have a Relationship:)❤️❤️❤️😊😊😊😊😊❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for this. We were spoilt last year. As a fan. I am going to sit back and enjoy. Grouper, wow.
Consistently fantastic, and exciting videos! Thank you TRP. Small correction suggestion: Check the math on Ingebrigsten's 400m pace for his 2Mile WR.
(474.10s / 3.218688m) x 0.4m = 58.92s per 400m.
As a fellow Kenyan, RIP Kelvin Kiptum.. your seat amongst the legends still remains
#1 should definitely have been Faith Kipyegon
spot on 🔥🔥🔥
I think that the best track and field world record this year was Leon marchand’s 4:02 400 IM
I would like to mention one thing, of the ten only two are not raisers, and none of them in the top five.Armand Duplantis dominated the entire indoor season and set a World Record. He did not enter the EC indoor in Istanbul .He dominated the summer season ,defended his WC title, thereby becoming the third men pole vaulter in history to do so.He not only set a World Record in the Diamond League final, but also won with 41cm over number two and atleast a half of a meter over the rest. That should have given a better place than number 8.
You got it spot on!!
The #1 top WR should be Tigist Assefa's Womens Marathon Record. She ran more than 2 minutes faster than the previous record! Kiptium ran only 34 seconds faster...
“Only” 34 seconds faster than the best marathon runner ever
34 seconds is still a HUGE margin. And he took down KIPCHOGE’s record. Not a 2 minute improvement like Assefa but still crazy
That record is crazy
Men’s athletics is considerably more solidified (basically there have been more men competing every year for many years at this point) than women’s. I do somewhat agree with you, so personally I think they are pretty equal when it comes to their significance.
The women's record is just slower than the men's. How many men have already run that same marathon time?
2 years ago, my 1st pick would be Warholm. I still cannot believe he did that...
1:56 olympcis
I think I'd have put Assefa at #1 because Kiptum breaking the world record was just a matter of time. But who picked Assefa to break the women's WR - let alone by 2 minutes?
Definetly Asefa and Kiptum for me. Just insane.
Also Tsegay 5k.
Honorable mentions to Bekele with new masters record
Looking forward for Siffan who in my opinion can brake the WR in marathon. She won both London and Chicago and that were her first two marathons 😂
Yes! I agreed with every placing you chose and how you ranked them.
Thanks for putting the marathoners as 1 and 2. Nobody truly appreciates the autistic dedication necessary to smash records in a distance event like the marathon.
Jesus Loves you so much! You may not think it but there is a reason you’re seeing this. He wants you to know Him so you Two can have a Relationship:)❤️❤️❤️😊😊😊😊😊❤️❤️❤️
The shocking of the Kiptum WR was the splits from 30-40 kms and more brutal was London with rain in 27:45
At least he ranked him Number one, because if not, that would be wild.
Jesus Loves you so much! You may not think it but there is a reason you’re seeing this. He wants you to know Him so you Two can have a Relationship:)❤️❤️❤️😊😊😊😊😊❤️❤️❤️

TRP. Many thanks for the amasingly high quality of your videos/production this year. I've been telling people I know to watch your channel. (Just to ignore the headlines. Ha!) Yes, I've been a dickhead at times when pointing out things I don't agree with. But I do attempt to be constructive.
Great list of performances. I liked that you included both Shot Put and Pole Vault performances in the list. No, I don't agree with you re Mixed Country Relay performances. I'm not putting down the individual performances in the relay but at almost any time a promoter could organise a group of top runners from different Countries to race a Relay... and possibly break a World Record. Get a couple of athletes sprinters from US and Jamaica together and presto!
An issue with Marathon World Records is the different Courses. Essentially, we have a whole host of Course Records. Providing the Course remains EXACTLY the same, we can plot improvements. But comparing the top Marathon course eg London, Berlin and others, there are always going to be aspects that favour one over the other. eg Tarmac, camber, elevation rise/fall, wind protection etc
Re Indoor Track. Again, all tracks are not equal for Indoors. Some are quite a bit faster than others, due to the different types of construction and materials used and thus the assistance given to the athlete. Plus, a huge percentage of World top runners simply do not run Indoor Track. The 200m Indoor Track requires a different balance to a 400m Outdoor Track. That is why the performances on Indoor Tracks cannot really be equated with Outdoor times. The USA puts a much greater emphasis on Indoor Track due to their College/University programs. Most Countries don't even have Indoor Tracks!
These nuances seem to be overlooked by the viewers. Anyway, Cheers TRP. Go 2024 Olympics!!
Can you put a full title in? I am just a casual UA-camr and when I see 17min I want to be sure it’s worth my time to watch. When I see titles like this I scroll right by because I’m not sure what the point of the video is and whether I should give you my time. I would watch more of your videos if you made this change
ok zoomer
@@Remyria thanks bro
17 minutes and 46 seconds of TRP!? Count me in.
What a legendary year in track & field that Femke Bol breaking the 40-year world record in 400m is at the bottom of most exceptional world records this year.
400m hurdles
@@Eric-lx8hp no it's not
@@Eric-lx8hp I agree it’s hard to keep track of Femke Bol’s world records, but I was referencing her 2023 world record ranked #10 in this video, the indoor 400m in which she ran 49.26.
1:57 olympcis?
Great shoes!
I agree for sure.
I’m just saying if you named the video the best track and field athletes of the year i personally would click it… I opened this video at the end of watching my subscriptions thinking it would be talking about drama… great vids tho ❤️

Jakob’s 2 mile record will stand for far longer than any of the others, so this for me is the #1!
It will unbroken because not a lot of athletes will try to brake it in is not an Olympian or world champion event I don’t think it worth much
That Arkansas 4x4 is pretty great......should absolutely count.
Typo at 1:56 - OLYMPCIS
We need more detail in this titles
1:55 "OLYMPCIS"????
I think it' s unfair to state that Femke Bol only went undefeated because McLaughlin wasn't competing. While I agree that may be likely, you shouldn't state that as if its a fact. The fact is that she was undefeated because she was the fastest!
It's also unfair to say Britton's 4x400m split time would have beaten Femke's WR, as split times shouldn't be compared to full 400m times, especially when you're not starting from the blocks. But I guess we shouldn't complain as most US-based T&F UA-camrs wouldn't even mention Femke Bol...
Jacob's 2 mile is the unbeatable record,
They also said that for komen's record
The thing is that 7:54 for 2 miles is like running a 7:23 3000m, it's an insanely fast time but definitely not untouchable
But considering that it's a niche distance i agree it's not gonna be broken any time soon
723 but also 200m more at the same pace
@@veltaz9961no 7:54 is equivalent to a 7:20.04 3000m so not untouchable but it is faster than Komen ever ran. Jakob would have broke the 3k world record if he didn’t run a 3:43 mile the day before
What a year, what a year
Yeah
the sport so thoroughly
I would flip #1
Can I request that you start putting what the video is about as the title again instead of “you won’t believe this” type stuff
Femke Bols greatest achievement is breaking that 40yr old record without taking so much juice that she stopped being legally recognised as a woman.
Well done Femke !
😏
Yeah, her voice isn't altered and her face is not super masculine, quite impressive
Thanks for the off season fix.
What’s the name of the song playing in Jakob’s part
What spikes were Tsegay wearing?
olympcis 1:55
1:41 you can only beat the competitors that are there.
Duplantis is a monster who innately loves pole vaulting. I mean...the guy made his own pole vault in his backyard when growing up.
please do a video on discus!
how many times did u change the title
Kelvin kiptum is doping
🎉🎉🎉
Let's goooo!!!!
I forgot girma broke the indoor 3k. Crazy to think komen has no WR left
komen still has the outdoor 3k at 7:20
@@creaturesbyjosh shit you right you right
His 3000m record is the true final boss of komen's craft.
His indoor and 2 miles record were just the small bosses you defeat before entering into the real hard part
Kelvin! Three times under 202. Once under 201. Three of the top seven times.
The two mile for me.
Nice
Absolutely.
Why must every video have a sensationalist title?
Me: Think that one day I can run sub 8 for a mile.
After the video: *Slinks to the corner and finishes his humble pie. *
I mean wow. Such great athleticism.
XDDD
The video should make you think that you definitely can :)
All these efforts are tantamount to an otherworldly out of body experience if indeed there is such a thing in athletics. However, Tigist Assefa’s WR exceeds an on par with that of Kelvin Kiptum’s. With earth shaking performances by women like this we find the men scrambling to stay ahead of their epic strides, and to think they were once banned from this event. They should allow women of this caliber to start with the elite men. It’s all about fairness and equality in the sport now, so high time we show it. Why have male pacers when they could be in lock step with elite men from the start if they prefer? This WILL happen again until the bar is raised appropriately in recognition of women.
Misspelled Olympics in 1:58.
i dont really like the 1 cm world record at a time by duplantis, cuz of the same reason you said, he can go higher
the problem i have with this and maybe Duplantis will regret it too later on, is that there will come a time that his abilities will go downhill, so when that happens he will have a world record at a certain height that couldve been higher had he tried to go to the max when his form and abilities were at his top. but yea its kinda tradition as Bubka also did it this way. who knows Bubka could also have had a higher jump had he tried going to the max when he was on his top.
Good point but it's not that simple. Duplantis would just be jumping a WR every couple meets because he can. He isn't
This year he improved his WR twice, each time by 1cm. If he had attempted to improve it by eg. 5cm in those competitions, he might not have cleared it at all, and the WR would be 2cm smaller. So you could say he could go higher, but this way he is actually more likely to maximise his potential over his lifetime. Slow and steady improvement is better than risky vaults that can lead to not clearing it.
Duplantis could be doing it for the usd100k price money, every time a world record is broken. Some billionaire//sponsor should guarantee him usd100k x the number of cm he breaks the record. Only then, could we be able to see the true potential and limit of duplantis, and bubka’s incident wont repeat.
I get this channel is called Running Productions and the fan base is likely biased around that, but to not put Crouser in a minimum of top 5 is bonkers. This man has been crushing it to a degree that puts no one even close and on top of that only gets better and better. He hasn't broken a record once or twice but several times only having himself as an opponent to challenge. Not enough recognition on his accomplishments.
Wait a minute, there’s no way you can omit Kipyegon’s 3:49.11 1500. Sorry one of the records here should’ve been omitted.
That’s an equivalent performance to her mile record which he did include.
@@ianbusche1471 doesn’t matter, the 1500 should be number one, it’s the glory event, it’s the event that’s run much more frequently
I agree with the list but I'd put Kipyegon higher.
Thank God, i really wanted 🙏 to c Jakob on this 🙏 list 🙏 😊
Kipyegon on top
you could say Tsegay is Gud AF. Because she is!
Total running productions is a Jacob glazer
The competition need to be between mondu dup. Faith k. And rayn kr. I think the rayn record is the most unique that no on except of him will even get close duplantis will be second place and faith k. Will be third because she broke 2 records but her records definitely will be broken soon and that I can’t say on rayn and mondu
Duplantis could have beaten his own world record by 4 inches, but he insists on breaking it 1cm at a time to maximize money
2 mile world record for me.
RIP Kelvin Kiptum
3.000 m and one mile reord next year will be owned by Jakob Ingebrigtsen
rip Kiptum
So you are comparing Britton Wilson running 49.20 with a flyng start to Bol world record 49.26 with a standing start? You know that Usain Bolt did 8.80 in the 100m with a flyng start? It doesn't mean that he can do it with standing start. Also Britton Wilson's best 400m indoor is 49.48 and she did that in a super-high altitude track
Nice world records.
Definitely
U misspelled olympics
Why the click bait title?
Faith
I don't think keptum marathon wr should be #1 because I believe it will get lowered soon, but no jakob ingebrigtsen 2 mile world record
Is Faith finished with the 1 000 metres. The mile/1509 goat. Either gender.
So beating a two mile world record by 4.5 seconds is better than beating a one mile world record by 5 seconds and beating a marathon world record by half a minute is better than beating a marathon world record by over two minutes. Yay, go men.
Jakob Ingebrigsten's World Record is much more impressive than Faith Kipyegon's World Record, and don't get me wrong, but both of the world records are absolutely out of this world, but he chose Jakob's world record over Faith's World record because of how insanely hard it is to do two consecutive miles under 4 minutes. It is not always about the gap, it can be about the performance.
But I do agree with you that Kelvin Kiptum's World record is not as impressive as Tiget Asefa's, in a physiological manner because she did not just smash the world record, she destroyed it, and as Kelvin Kiptum still had one of the best performances of all time, if he were to break the 2 hour barrier, it would be much more impressive.
But Jakob was going at an average pace, that most people cannot even get close to in a 100 meter sprint! It was incredibly fast, and Total Running Productions also pointed out how he looked extremely smooth while running. All four performances were very important, and thats really what matters. Why bring in gender?
Total Running Productions is getting better, but there is definitely still a male bias.
Its almost like the mens world record is more prestigious or something. I wonder why that is? Is it that the mens world record is also the fastest time ever ran by a HUMAN in history? Or is it that more men have competed for these titles for a longer period of time giving the titles history and importance.
Just a tiny bit of brain power is all thats needed to understand.
There would be less controversy if the list divided into male and female.
@@jiyghkjsduhjkbkb Or just being male.
Everyone has their own take. I know you like the marathon but for me anyone who even comes near a Komen world record is legendary but to obliterate it like Ingebrigtsen did - that is other world. Even the great Bekele didn’t come within 10 seconds. My #1 is the 2 mile. It’s Beamonish. I don’t think that can be beaten unlike the marathon WR which will probably go down next year.
Great video as usual, but it is Olympics NOT Olympcis LOL!
7:02 on the one hand this is a stupid rule, these women _are_ on the same team. But on the other hand, I suppose this rule would preclude some gazillionaire or some sponsoring corporation from just paying the fastest athletes to be on a relay for a few days. But it is an NCAA record, and it’s wild that the NCAA record is faster than the WR. This almost like the INEOS 1:59 challenge with Eliud Kipchoge. There have to be some rules to standardize the events in athletics.
Your Jakob bias/obsession is obvious. No way is his record in a rarely ran event superior to Faith's records.
Some of these athletes like Bol were ranked pretty high in competing for the European Sportsperson of the Year Award too, but Novak Djokovic won it for the 5th time (rightfully so).
I don’t want to accuse anybody directly, but humans just aren’t evolving this quickly, and I wonder how clean some of these really are.
IF I WERE SYDNEY ID ALSO BE LOOKING FOR ANOTHER EVENT FOR PARIS ,I THINK FEMKE WILL WIN THE 400H
Oh please, she's almost a full second ahead of Femke and has superior foot speed. She could give Femke a half second lead and still beat her by 3 tenths of a second. Ridiculous statement.
Another thing Duplantis set three World Records last year, this year he only set two. That’s not good enough, he can do better and higher , that’s what you’re saying. So what if he dominated the whole year, he always does.Come on are you being fair? Look at his age, what he has done and don’t forget about it, and don’t use it against him.
Why don't you name the video about whats in it? Just clicked on one from timr to time cause its kinda always clickbait and this is top 10 records this year? Why dont make it clear?
I simply refuse to believe Assefa's record is clean. No way.
Let’s be real, any of these records could be tainted. However, I give the benefit of the doubt unless somebody is caught.
I think we all know which one is #1. 2 good hints: It involves one of his blonde crushes, and it doesn't happen if Femke Bol doesn't stumble and fumble the baton.
Lmao I see what you did thar
