Very informative and clearly presented.
I am so happy the video was helpful to you, thank you for the support.
Wow, I am impressed. I was given a 22" Saucy Walker doll, I didn't even know where to start to clean and repair her. Thank you for your great videos.
I am so happy the video was helpful. When I found my first Toni doll 2 years ago I did not have a clue that they should be cleaned from the inside out. It has been a quite a learning process and we are definitely still learning. We are happy we can pass along some of what we have learned.🥰
Very informative. Thank you.
Thanks ladies. Peroxide is great stuff!! Tonya 🎉
You are very welcome! It’s a safe way to kill mold and bacteria. one caution though, just don’t let it stay on any painted surfaces for any length of time it will damage the paint in time but inside the had plastic doll no paint yay!🥰🌺
I have just found your channel after realising my Cissy doll has gray powder coming out of her head. Thank you so much for showing these videos, as it has helped me a lot to understand what is happening to my doll. Regrettably Crissy is strung a bit different from Toni dolls but at least I will try and clean the head of her. Thank you once again. x
I haven't had a Chrissy doll come my way as yet so I can't help with restringing her. Not sure if the grey powder is mold or not. If it is mold, do the best you can with her head, but without being able to clean her from inside out mold would eventually spread through out her body like the "Snow Queen". I kept the "The Snow Queen" away from my other dolls until I was sure she was free of it as mold can spread from one doll to another. Of course that is only if it is mold. I am happy that some of my videos were at least a little helpful. Best wishes for you and your Crissy doll.
Thanks for this ! 💜
Your are so very welcome. It was a pleasure!😉
Enjoyed the video !
Thank you so much for the support! I am so happy you enjoyed it.
I watched this as soon as it came out (like I do for all your videos!) and just now watched this for the second time because my memory is not what it could be! Anyway, what a helpful video! Thank you thank you! I'm getting ready to put diamond glaze on some metal inside a hard plastic doll and I'm not sure whether to also coat the eye weight? Or just do it if there's rust to start with?
Another topic: someone said Whink rust remover is safe on vinyl--have you ever tested it on hard plastic? I don't have a test doll (give me time 😂) but it would sure make metal prep easier if it wasn't damaging to the plastic. It was also recommended to me for removing rust on fabric. With fabric though, sometimes it seems like the rust has damaged the fabric so severely, you can't tell if it was rust that ate thru the fabric or the rust remover and a hole is left that once was rust/fabric.
Hi Laura, no you don’t have to glaze the weight itself it’s made of lead and can’t rust. on the metal parts inside your doll make sure you have removed all the rust of the metal that you chose to glaze. be careful putting the glaze on the bar that the weight is attached to that runs between the two eye cups . when the glaze hardens it will inhibit the weight from going up and down. If you find that some glaze has gotten there and the weight is not moving. Don’t worry move the weight back and forth several times till the seal is of glaze is released. you should also move it up and down as well as back and forth till it moves normally again. if you have any concerns we will work though it with you if you need it.❤️😉
@@DIYDollArtist thank you so much for the help! I will be sure to get the rust off before the diamond glaze. I love how thorough you two are, and your confidence helps beat my fear back!
Love your videos, so helpful. What would you recommend as a Diamond Glaze alternative?
Can't find it here in Iceland ❤
You bring up a good question. I get my Diamond Glaze from Amazon but if you live in a country that does not have access to Amazon that can be problem. I use Diamond Glaze because when it dries it is hard, not like a regular glue. I found another product called Glossy Accents by Ranger, but I found it too on Amazon. I cannot necessarily recommend this product as I have never used it but it states that it dries hard when dry. So I guess my best advice is to look for one that dries hard when dry and do an experiment on some metal and use a very thin coat to see how it comes out before using it on a doll. I wish I could help you more, I am so happy that some of the videos have been helpful. Wonderful to hear from you from Iceland.❤️🥰
@DIYDollArtist Great, thank you so much. I'll ask around in stores here. Expensive through Amazon :/ There would probably also be a hazardous item fee.
I bought the bands you recommended from Dolly Delights, shipped through Myus.
I did a test assembly, and it went very well ❤️❤️
Does one need an engineering degree to do all this? I have yet to learn how to restring my dolls. But I really need to know how to redo my dolls' hair.
I would think one wouldn’t need a degree but can see how all those details can be a bit confusing. The video for restringing a doll will be posted next week. I put this one first because if someone is going to restring a doll this video helps to show how to clean the insides before they restring. Cleaning helps prevent the dolls plastic from breaking down which causes some odors. Try washing your dolls hair and comb it the way you want it then let it dry. That’s the easiest way to do a dolls hair and I have several dolls that look just great with that method. Thanks for you support Sheila 🥰❤️
How do you remove the cheese odor from vintage hard plastic doll?
Hi Tamara. I’m assuming you watched the whole video. The rust is a big factor in odor. The cleaning of the plastic is very important too because there is bacteria you can’t see and the peroxide then baking soda kill bacteria and the soda absorbs odor. My sister in law received a doll that the odor was so strong that she couldn’t keep the doll in the house . she repeated the process a couple of times and every time the odor was less . There was a little odor left and I suggested she use white vinegar as the same process we used with the peroxide. That eliminated the last bit of odor now the doll is fine. Since your odor seems to be strong. when following these methods you can leave the peroxide or vinegar or baking soda in for a few hours . Some odors are more persistent and need more time and or a repeat of the process. I can’t tell you how important it is to eliminate the rust that is were it all starts. If you need more help we will do what we can to solve this problem. Just let us know.🥰
