Chenyu is called the 'Master Of Songs' for a reason!
Thank you for reacting to this piece of art. I think he also covered half his face, because he at least one hand to play the piano. In the original video there is a dichotomy in the lighting as well, with blue and pink light on either side on his face.

I love that you said Hua's performance is like a one-man show. Most of his performances are like a play, a mini-musical. Hua Chenyu is the first singer that doesn't care about the results but just wanted to express his self-growth through the performances on this stage.

The audience was holding its breath. There was mass expelling of breath at the same time. He had them in the palm of his hand. I swear he has gills in his neck to let him hold those long notes.

@@TreMcLeod_ oh you REALLY have to watch his duet with Su Shiding doing "Nanping Evening Bells". If you think those are long notes in Fake Monk...you wont believe THAT section of the performance. 🤣
@@DahliaKuo 🤣 THAT bit of Nanping Bells just had me picking my jaw of the floor, even with the one breath in the middle. 😮 But the Competition at the Gala with Dilraba when they stopped him after a minute because they'd won, just let you see his breath holding/breathing on one note... And not even gasping for air at the end. 😮

I think he once said that covering his face with his hand while singing helps him dig deeper into the emotions. Like putting on a mask. His latest album poster is also a mask. In this performance i guess the hand serves several purposes. What you yourself got out of it may very well be the case. I liked this reaction of yours a lot. You get him💕💕

Thanks for the reaction. Hua Chenyu is a brilliant composer, performer, artist and musical arranger. His albums can be found on Spotify, the last one released is "Hope". The videos with English subtitles can be found on the UA-cam channel "Hua Chenyu English Subs". You have discovered a real diamond. A brilliant musician who can compose and perform any musical genre.

Loved your comments and reaction. EVERY thing you said are so on point. My personal thoughts In regards to covering half his face, to me is like hiding, but still wanting attention. This whole song is all about contradiction. Wanting love but reject or afraid to receive love.

Thanks so much for reacting to this performance, which I consider one of his art pieces. I'm glad you got to know this amazing artist a little bit better. Your comments are on point, definitely mesmerizing, vulnerable. Hua Hua has always been a very private person; but his music expresses so much of his inner world, thoughts, pains, struggles. But in the past few years, he has matured and grown, and talks more about his inner life...his music now reflects a lot of his optimism and beauty in this world, while still recognizing that living in the reality of this world is complicated. Thank you for a really interesting reaction, I loved your face as you watched him.
The performance very much shows duality & t sides to a person, the public & private, also the lighting, how there was only 2 colours, the hand/mask motif etc.
It's a fascinating performance although not even close being to his most unusual one it is indeed very brave to put a performance such as this in a competition, Hua Chenyu is very much an artist and he shouts "this is who I am, take me or leave me" If you don't like him, he's fine with that too, as long as you keep it to yourself and don't attack him or his fans online ;)
More people in this world could learn by following some of his philosophies.

What did you just witness? Art, pure art. Hua Chenyu is an amazingly gifted artist. Everything he does has a deep meaning and purpose. He’s a genius. As is Zhou Shen who you accidentally named. The two of them are daily listening.

I love both Zhou Shen and Hua Cheng Yu. They came from different backgrounds. They have gone through different paths. ❤ People like to compare them. I don’t think it’s a fair comparison. They are very different and they have their own strengths.
While he was cover his face at the same time the last phase says [ I wanted people to see me, but I don’t want people to know me ]. Like he mentioned before from the beginning. He was isolated himself from outside but also couldn’t get father ( busy with his work ) Also Mather was devoid.literally he was struggling with himself . That’s what I understand, I’m not sure if it’s right.
