Heard this song on my “Sony Walkman” at age 18 , in 1981 when song hit as I was in ICU after being struck & paralyzed by a crazy-ass virus....what a time warp!
My daddy just passed away the day after father's day this year and today is my birthday and he loved this song! Just walking down memory lane wishing he was here!
Yes!! (Pun intended☺️) I remember just jamming off the music for years.. Then, one day, I was driving home from work, feeling sorry for myself, in an emotional holding pattern after a painful breakup. Song came on. He said, "Shake! Shake yourself!" And for the first time, I listened to everything he said. I pulled over. It was like 5 wise men, 3 therapists, a couple of psychics and a motivational speaker sat down in that car with me that day... I couldn't stop crying. He was saying quit livin in fear, and will yourself to take more chances.. Couldn't believe all that tough love and such a deep message was buried in that song all along! I have loved it ever since! ♥️☺️🎶
@@mikecole1664 I think the song is actually telling this. The text "owner of a lonely heart" is tearfull and utterly sad often repeated and screamed out. The text "is more better than a broken heart" is only said in a trie to give some rational comfort. Feelings cannot be comfortably rationalised. This song was played when I was a kid. Now as owner of a broken heart so many years later I think I understand the meaning.
I remember this song in the 80s. I was in elementary school. The feeling it gives me is such nostalgia for a time gone by but dearly missed. We're living in such a different time today 😔
I was at 9 years old when i listened to this song for the first time and its refrain just caught on in my ears and till now i can remember it vividly ....much beautiful song
This has been my motto for the last fifty years. Which has led me to have many adventures. Never did find love but did have fun looking for it. Never happened so I am Just a Owner of a Lonely Heart.

It's better than an owner a broken heart.
Great song
Best song ever! Who agrees?
Verse 1]
Move yourself
You always live your life
Never thinking of the future
Prove yourself
You are the move you make
Take your chances, win or loser
See yourself
You are the steps you take
You and you, and that's the only way
Shake, shake yourself
You're every move you make
So the story goes
[Chorus]
Owner of a lonely heart
Owner of a lonely heart
(Much better than a)
Owner of a broken heart
Owner of a lonely heart
I know (x3)
Maybe there's another way to do this
{Music Video - Break}
[Verse 2]
Say - you don't want to chance it
You've been hurt so before
Watch it now
The eagle in the sky
How he dancin' one and only
You, lose yourself
No not for pity's sake
There's no real reason to be lonely
Be yourself
Give your free will a chance
You've got to want to succeed
[Chorus]
Owner of a lonely heart
Owner of a lonely heart
(Much better than a)
Owner of a broken heart
Owner of a lonely heart
Owner of a lonely heart
[Bridge]
After my own indecision
They confused me so
Owner of a lonely heart
My love said never question your will at all
In the end you've got to go
Look before you leap
Owner of a lonely heart
And don't you hesitate at all - no no
Yow!
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!
{Instrumental}
[Chorus]
Owner of a lonely heart
Owner of a lonely heart
(Much better than a)
Owner of a broken heart
Owner of a lonely heart
Owner of a lonely heart
Owner of a lonely heart
(Much better than a)
Owner of a broken heart
Owner of a lonely heart
Owner of a lonely heart
[Outro]
Sooner or later each conclusion
Will decide the lonely heart
Owner of a lonely heart
It will excite, it will delight
It will give a better start
Owner of a lonely heart
Don't deceive your free will at all
Don't deceive your free will at all
Owner of a lonely heart
Don't deceive your free will at all
Just receive it
Just receive it
