Yes, that helped a great deal! Thanks so much. You’re going to need to make a video on the R8, which I have. There is no multi-controller (slider button) and I have yet to figure out how to move the focus point. I also tried to copy your settings for the R6 II onto the R8, which is really a baby R6 II, but am not sure I got it right. Doesn’t seem to be working the same way. The dial on the back is flat and doesn’t rotate, using arrow buttons instead. I know they had to limit the controls to fit everything onto a tiny body but it makes it difficult. And if it is just a baby R6 II and I have the real R6 II (plus the R5) did I need it at all? I was setting out to get the Fuji X100 V because that is praised by a Washington Post photographer. It was going to be my pocketable camera. But my camera store owner, who has great judgement and knowledge, talked me out of the Fuji and into the R8. So, questions to answer: who is it for? How do I make peace with the lack of controls?

I’ve got another suggestion for you. When the second and REAL R5 update comes out maybe April 17-18, I will still be trying to figure out the first firmware update which I loaded last night. Why in hell would I want a 400 megapixel file? Anyway, the second update will be much more extensive than the first.

I don’t have or plan on getting the R8. I did own the RP for a while and they basically put the R6ii guts into a RP body. No joystick or rear dial just like the RP. I think to switch the focus point around you will be mostly reliant on the rear touch screen. In my opinion if you own a R6ii and a R5 I don’t see any reason to have the R8 except if you wanted an much lighter weight body for something like V-logging and the lack of IBIS can actually be an advantage in terms of weight reduction and wide angle IBIS wobble not being an issue. Fuji makes phenomenal sensors and although I don’t prefer fujis ergonomics I’m also biased here as I’m really used to canons control system. I have a friend that uses Fuji and the sensor dynamic range and iso performance is pretty amazing and he uses a XT-3 I actually have a video comparing it to the RP in high ISO performance. (Which is crazy since the RP is fullframe and the Fuji is aps-c). Hope this helps a little sorry I don’t have any direct answers.

Hey Jesse! I have a question about the R6 II. That red record button on top of the body, is that programmable with video settings? With the R5 you can program it to be able to quickly film with a certain setting. With the R6 Mark I you can't program this button and you film in the standard settings. But what about the R6 Mark II? I'm looking forward to an answer and keep up your good work, I hope you'll show some videos and photos with the R6 Mark II soon :-)

The record button works like the original R6 in this weird unusable auto mode unfortunately. Thank you for watching and I’ll be sure to get more out about the R6 mark ii soon!
