  • Exciting day as I visit Charlie to collect a kit of young birds he offered to breed for me. Charlie has been something of a mentor so far, and with 70 years of racing pigeons he's definitely one to listen to.

Hello everyone. I hope you're enjoying the vids so far. I'm aiming to do a couple of videos each week aimed at new starters, novices or anyone with an interest in the hobby really. If you could click subscribe to help me get to UA-cam's magic 1,000 subscribers that would really help me make the videos. Also comment if there's something you would like to see more of! Thanks 😀

New subscribers and loving the videos. Thinking of getting back into pigeons after a 10 year break since racing a few back as a kid. Have planned my loft but haven’t committed yet. Even more tempted after watching this! All the best.

You should do it. I've been considering it for a few years but it never felt like I have enough time. Now I've started I'm hooked.

@@howtotrainyourpigeon once you’re hooked that’s it! I’m also worried about time but working from home during lockdowns made me think about it more. Only thing is what to do when you go away but guess that’s the same for any pet? I’ve been thinking about ways of incorporating hopper feeders and water fountains so they could be left a couple of day without bother.

Thanks. They were bred for me by two local flyers. One that's been racing pigeons for 70 years 👍

New subscriber here mate. I started racing last year and love it.
Young birds are brilliant to watch but make sure you don’t overfeed them when training them keep them hungry.
Where abouts are you racing mate? Thanks dean

Notts South Road Fed hopefully. Yes keeping them a little hungry by the end of the day appears to be the best way to keep control of them. I'm feeding 30g of breed and wean per bird atm

How old should young birds be when I buy them?

They should be able to peck for feed by themselves. Usually 5 weeks I think but not too old either.
