Looking at the ships blueprint and geographical maps of the canal itself, the hull is buried far deeper than we can see.
Dredging risks a capsize, which will make this worse, and using tugboats risks breaking the hull, which will also make it worse.
Smit Salvage, the company that handles the salvage of the Costa Concordia are working on it. They have a great track record, but they've never had a time crunch like this before.
There's also fibre-optic cables running down the canal. Will be an interesting few days.
The fibre-optic cables isn’t a big concern. They can be fairly quicker moved to make room. It happens constantly here in Denmark even with small roadworks and similar.
Thanks for the animation, I thought it fell from the sky.
I like your sarcasm 🙄
Honey, where is my super suit

"I understood that reference."
A blockage of this kind and scale has never happened before in the canal’s 150 year history.
How sure are you that this was not deliberate?
Deliberate?
Anyone stopped to think that this might be have been done on purpose? Think of all the goods on all those ships backed up and the people and services that they supply that are now disrupted and halted... life saving equipment, food healthcare products... thousands of ships per year navigate the canal without fault and this ship practically did a handbrake turn and run aground! It’s like crashing your car on a straight clear road 🤦♂️ fishy business if you ask me.....
i find the point interesting, who do you think might have done it and why?
What an absolute farce 😂
As there are other large ships fore and aft of the Ever Given, surely they could be used to rotate this vessel using towing cables, enough to enable it to face north up the canal, along with assistance from the tugs,
That's what I thought one puling from the rear and one pulling from the front just enough to straighten the ship up. Not bashing at it with tug boats. Imagine being an alien looking down on that. What a bunch of tools lol
Imagine they get stuck too.
@Driftwannabe 10 its not about having tons of people to get it out, it dug itself in the mud, so they need to free it first so that it can float by itself. Pulling a ship whilst its stuck can severly damage the hull and can also result in water leaking through. Its easier said sitting down than actually doing it from the live prescriptive. Additionally, there are many procedures and safety considerations that need to be considered in case something goes wrong. The ship is no joke, literally a tower.
Waiting for its CARGO to be EXPOSED
They can't pull it becuase it's not floating
Every company in the land blaming the stuck ship instead of the postal service.

Lol is our stock on this ship. Unfortunately customer don't care about problems like this. They want their products no matter what.
Very suspicious strategic place to “get stuck” the ripple effect is enormous
It's not going to get stuck and cause a blockage somewhere that's wide and deep, though, is it?

Pivot!
Wow, it's causing quite a backlog isn't it, how unfortunate to get stuck like that though, the weather didn't help either probably I guess. G
They need to use water jets (hose's) to liquefie the sand at the bow of the ship and pull with tugs at the same time. At high tide mark when there is no flow.
Sent your solution to vessel owner, the world will be greatfull to you

this is turning into a saga now
This whole situation reminds me of something similar that has happened in the 'Trapped' episode from Tugs.
Meanwhile Top Hat from Tugs would say: "Oh I say hello!"
They'll have to unload it to reduce the draft I guess, and hopefully it will sit higher in the water...
I suppose that's why it will take weeks.
Deliberate blockade bs
Why
Maybe if they build a tunnel underneith for the ships to go through, or a bridge over the ship, attach wheels to the ships so they can be driven over the bridge
this was deliberate
So those other shipping tankers are just going to sit and wait? I'm not exactly versed in shipping lanes but that's the only option? One ship blocks it and the entire lane and worldwide trade between europe and asia is halted? It all rallies on a tiny in comparison to the size of the tankers canal that was made in 10 years over 160 years ago for much smaller wooden vessels with iron only taking over as the main material instead of wood 30 years earlier?
The other option is all the way round Africa man.
Have they tried turning it off and on again?
Tow the ship back into canal with all those waiting ships you need equivalent weight vessels to move it
Have they attempted to unload the ship to make it lighter?
Covid-19: I crashed the world's economy and trade.

Dude it took 10 years to construct and the political might and industrial clout of two global superpowers in a time when industrial marvels like this weren't bogged down by beurocratic red tape, health & safety legislation or ecological concerns. A construction endeavour like this and the Panama canal would never be attempted again.
Wow that's a lot of ships
Have they tried taking the handbrake off?
Any thoughts on the proposal that this was done on purpose?
Might be a continuation of the Capitol riots in the US? Those guys were crazy..
Was absolutely done on purpose. One of two reasons as follows: 1) It's a known major child and immigrant trafficking route. There is a huge global crackdown going on right now and has been for a while about this. It could be that, but more likely 2) globalists shutting the world economy down further like with the "pandemic", to further acheive their goals. The mainstream media will not report correctly if either of the above reasons are true, and will of course offer their own made up story about it.

Actually I believe it's computer controlled and unmanned
@@kevinstefanov2841 Not computer controlled. How would a computer sail up a canal! Computers run to their programming. Nobody programmed the ship to go where it can't go 🤦♂️
Side note this was a Chinese freighter and will cost China for the mistake. This captain won't survive the weekend let alone need another job Monday
Surely it would have been a Pilot onboard to navigate the Canal??
@@rjrfletcher2355 The canal doesn't change in shape, therefore you can program a ship to always go the same route and it will always go the same route, and thus through the canal.
@@herodotus4272 on a global scale China have been clear in their intentions to take control of shipping lanes as they believe USA is failing and they are the new world power. Strange that a Chinese ship gets stuck in Suez Canal... Perhaps China will step in solve the problem and take control of the canal... Getting closer to that war people keeps promising. War strategists have already look at China taking over the Suez canal and do not believe the USA is in a position to do much about it.
Just pull it backwards, who's messing with the import/exports
Yup, you’re absolutely right
fix the ship’s problem then start its engine in full power reverse mode together with the fleet of tugboats, they can pull it
Why does everything just keep getting worse
Dredging always helps
Ordered a container full of Pepe the frogs...guess they’re just stuck there, watching the water. 🐸🐸🐸
Engineers solution.
1.Use the method of hydromeanization- from two opposite sides of the ship from the water side (wash away using dredgers).2.Then,from the same sides (from the water side), secure the powerful cables (give an effort of hundreds of thousands of tons) and turn the ship around. With more force of to pull (more force) in the direction, where the ship ran on aground less.Instead of bulldozers, can be use the piles and a winch. With respectful to you.
Have they considered unloading the cargo? If so, I haven't seen that mentioned in a news clip. It seems pretty obvious....
And how are they going to do that? Do you see any unloading facilities next to it?

Not to contribute to compassion fatigue but at least warehouse and delivery workers are going to get a two week breather. Egypt could do without all the lost revenue though especially right now.
Have they tried air pumps I wonder; all that pushing, and tugging (gettit) will make it worse, but a few pipes in strategic places .... silt-no-more.
Looks very deliberate.
Come on guys, we need that plastic tat from China!
Have they tried going in reverse?

That ship was actually delivering the newest metal gear.
i hear that it was the wind that blew this thing sideways...was there a freaking hurricane?
It's like trying to pull your boot out of the mud. It's the suction that's the problem.
It was bound to happen one day hope the captain keeps her job
Refloat it! High pressure water frack the dirt around it to loosen the dirt! Keep pressure on the back!
Cut the ship in half?
Caused by a “ gust of wind” really 🤐
The episode will help promote Russia's Northern Route. I wonder if an additional thought has occurred to the Russians and that is to build a canal from Sokol _eastern_ Sokol, there are two, to Cherskiy. The Kolyma river flows about 3/4 of that distance. Using hat river would significantly assist is a canal construction and although the river is frozen for most of the year and at points is shallow (though mainly deep) and there are also islands, the idea is, at least to me, interesting. Any country that can build a rail and road bridge across the Kerch straits can build anything. The Chinese could be asked to participate. Such a route would significantly shorten the distance and effort from Eastern production centers such as in China to the Northern Route. It would be a gargantuan engineering effort but if any people would be up to it, it would be Russians and Chinese (India might also participate as it would fit nicely into their LT economic plans).
have they tried removing the container crates to lessen it weight?
One guy at each corner. altogether now, heave!!
Empty the container first. The ship can float up that easy soil grasp on the both end of the ship.
*We need Magneto* 😂
Well what do you expect in a country?
You think every boat is driven by the country it is passing? You must be a yank
.
Hmm, Evergreen. Killary must be worried.
Why do they use smaller tug boats instead of another cargo ship which has more pulling power?
@StrawberryRoanDragon Ah, seems reasonable.
Thats like saying why not use the lorry instead of the tow truck. And the lorry is filled with glass antiques
Save Our Children
Isn’t the ship called evergreen ?
Suez getting her route canal treatment.... Just a slight teething problem here though
what is ur obsession with teeth
Resolution!!! You need to raise the boat while supporting the haul, I get it! Raise it by 1-2 inches by use of heavy duty airbags on each side of boat, while creating haul support. You will have rope go under the boat, 6 feet apart. 300 airbags on each side of the boat. (600x15k pounds lifted=9 million pound lift). Then, get few jet F-16 engines pushing air against the side of the boat (front) boat, while 2 jet engines pull the boat (on the back). 2-3 ships on each end if canals, pushing water towards the boat that is stuck, which will create small tsunami wave from each side. Then as it all is coming together, sequenced explosive to really cause that water to focus on the stuck boat, with a back pressure wave effect, you got “ air, water giving back on what it did, reversal effect”! I bet it would work!!! (Last option, release/remove the anchor completely from the boat to reduce weight and have other boats tow on it. Simple, cheap and effective. Start with airbags and water pressure increase. Call it, job well done! You are welcome!!!
Why has this happened now ? Hmm .... has this happened before? Interesting timing.
🤔 why?
are the kids still on board?
Anchor winches into the shores and drag it round with cables? Underwash the hull with high pressure water hoses to clear debris? Props to the guy with the digger though! "Hold my beer, I got this........."

Idea; offload some containers via crane onto smaller ships to lighten the load so the ship can be dislodged more easily
