Typhoon Hagibis (2019) trivia: this Underground Discharge Channel can impound 670K M3. Upstream of this water tank, there is another special reservoir to prevent massive flood; the Watarase Reservoir is capable to hold up to 170M M3. Again, a new flood preventive dam has been finished in the mountains just before the typhoon Hagibis passed over Japan. The new dam can impound approx. 120M M3. From Oct. 12 to 13, those facilities were almost full of the storm sewage, over 90 % of each full capacity, leading to just 1 dead in Tokyo area (as of Oct.21). Anyway, Japan's been spending huge money and time on flood control so far.

1:50, I’ve been doing some research, and I’m pretty sure NYC is in the ideal location for a major city. There is room to grow but not enough for the city to sprawl endlessly. It is situated on one of the worlds largest deep water harbors. And it has near surface bedrock to allow skyscrapers and other large constructions to be built cheaper. On top of that it is in a very stable climactic region with no fault lines or tornado areas
Japan centuries old teaching on how to do anything in the most practical efficient way amazing looking at this underground marvel. They are world leaders in their ethos
A similar project is underway in London, but much larger. A 25km long tunnel, 7.2 meters in diameter is being dug under the Thames connecting more than thirty existing sewers and storm drain overflows that used to discharge excess stormwater and waste into the Thames. The new tunnel will capture this, and transport it to a treatment works. The vast size of the tunnel means when flow exceeds capacity of the treatment works huge volumes can be stored within the tunnel.
This particular location is actually used many times in the filming of live-action tokusatsu shows, such as many entries in the Kamen Rider and Super Sentai series, and it's also referenced in some videogames as well (played Code Vein recently and there was an area that is very much a smaller version of this). I mean, when you have a location that looks this unique, it would be a shame not to showcase it.
I've stood amid entering underground water and have had my entire body moved to and fro by surging tidal water where the sun never shines. People like me find new life and minerals never found before. It is why NASA has said my recreation interests have application on moons and planets elsewhere. It is not rocket science. The largest life form I found is seen underwater. To get free first first cut the head off using a large diver knife. Mine has a steel saw-tooth edge on one side when an alternate razor-edge isn't fast enough. Then swim to daylight where other people will help pull the toothy jaws apart.

@@Micaniker The U.S learned how to make meth from the Japanese at Hawaii
Can you imagine if Japan land mass equal in size United States... what they could accomplish.
We should’ve let them take over Asia
Roshi NO
They can still buy land overseas or islands... Some ukrainian or central asian poor country might be willing to sell land than going bankrupt.
@@uint32 We like this idea.
Don’t start that again, remember what happened last time u said that...
No wonder they use that place in all sorts of tokusatsu, it looks so cool.
7:20 The sewer level in Mirror's Edge. They even use green paint on the walls
That was my first thought too :D
was scrolling to see if anyone alse thought of it :) that was incredible
Glad to see I'm not the only one who saw that! Freakin cool!!!
They should have a few dozen web cams that we could view and see how wild it gets during a flood.
Yes Exactly
The Japanese people always seem so friendly. I also find them to be one of the most intelligent people
Tokyo is an amazing city ... one of my favourite cities in the world!
Pennywise is just waiting down there.. biding his time
🎈
Haha
Pennywise has a mansion
@@noonehere4332 indeed and spacious too
Biding his time? Or lost? "Where the HELL did I put that red balloon?!"
Japanese people thinking is beyond imagination! The discipline, attitude and respect is undeniably the reason of their success! If the world is going to be like them I am sure we can have an amazing world where negativity were not grow and fosters and the children is going to have a smile on their face ❤️🙏🏻 I love Japan! Philippines needs this kind of waterway system to stop a massive flooding in the country!
Incredible, amazing Marvel.
Other countries must learn from them.
Haha Catriona Gray answer in Miss Universe. Hahaha yeah but first Philippines need to be rich to do that project. In major 3 island.
Philippines government must do this not hiding a money or corrupt
Babahayan ng mga squats yan lol
Ayos lang. Wipeout naman sila pag bumaha lol

Obviously it was fine, but I would have been at least a little nervous going into those emergency flood tunnels on a rainy day like they did 😂
Yeah and the guy saying "so please film quickly" would just add to the stress.
I love how polite the engineer is about the rising river far above. The unspoken, _if it crests, we will probably drown, so kindly speed up the filming_ was brilliant XD
All I could think of whilst watching this is Mirror's Edge.
Yup, same here :P
Nice that now we know from where they borrowed the idea.
Glad to know I wasn't alone, haha. Epic game.
for me it was portal 2 haha
That one level where you escape through the storm drains,
Japan the leader in technology period!
Japan always has something new to show us.
One thing I love about Japan is never asking for help for any disaster, they still survive.
Well, now we know the inspiration behind a certain Mirror's Edge level.
Searched the comments to find yours!
Wait for an event horizon as its easier than going there.
Exactly what came to mind when I saw this. I thought the level design was just the game developer being artistic and excessive in scope. How I didn't consider Japanese ingenuity.
Tamilnadu politicians should visit Japan and learn from them
I will NOT surprised even when we found out Japan have underground city and habitat! 😲😲😲
Japanese are such innovators and a resilient humble nation.
Japan is 20 years ahead of the rest of the world. Love their culture
The quality of this video made my eyes burn
I bet this never completed 😂😂
The bgm is so eerie that i was unknowingly expecting to come out.. a baby kaiju maybe? 🤦🏻♂️
I can't wait to visit Japan...l love you guys..
In Canada, it takes two years to unclog a sewer never mind building something this complex. Good on you Japan.
Jakarta Government really needs to see this. Rain only takes 2 hours to makes East Jakarta flooding
The problem is, most of Jakarta area is a huge swamp
You know,
We must pray for it doesn't heavy rain..
240p?! good that I have a 4k display
2k display woo
8k but everything wont be 8k for at least another decade or two

Best city is located in best country
Japan is such an awesome country. Definitely need to go there one day
Its quite scary the scale of it. Imagine seeing the water rushing in standing at the bottom of the chamber.
I've stood amid entering underground water
and have had my entire body moved to and
fro by surging tidal water where the sun
never shines. People like me find new life
and minerals never found before. It is why
NASA has said my recreation interests have
application on moons and planets elsewhere.
It is not rocket science. The largest life form
I found is seen underwater. To get free first
first cut the head off using a large diver knife.
Mine has a steel saw-tooth edge on one side
when an alternate razor-edge isn't fast enough.
Then swim to daylight where other people will
help pull the toothy jaws apart.
Who remembers Mirror's Edge? One of my favorite missions.
Japan got the world teachnology I'm so proud of them
Such an engineering marvel! The background music just scares the hell out of me!
"And they call it a mine. A MINE!"

I love this kind of megastructures. Such amazing works.
