Ditto, I had a 66’ GTO that I put over $2100 in after purchasing for $500 in 76’. Only had minimal insurance on it. Got T-Boned in 77’. Other insurance paid $650 for my totaled 66’. I owed over a grand for a ton of parts I couldn’t pay cash while restoring. I should’ve listened to my dad and bought a new car for the amount I put in the GTO. Terrible lesson for a 20 year old.

One cannot put a price tag on all of the intangibles that went along with restoring this car. Perhaps the most important thing here is that Mr. AMD is realizing the American dream. He's a shining example of someone who has God-given skills but never ceases to improve his knowledge. I totally get it. I have restored 3 cars in my life the same way. My 55 Chevy 2 dr hardtop I bought at a junkyard and restored it to pristine condition, but was then afraid to drive it. The second was a 1960 land rover series 80" that my son and i restored. He still drives it weekly 25 years later. There is no price on the satisfaction you get from bringing a beast you love back from the scrap yard. My third is a 1970 911S Porsche targa, still in process. Your series has renewed my interest in finishing this abandoned 40 year project. Thank you and congratulations. Job well done.
Ahmed, I watched this series all the way from the start and I cried tears of joy at the end. What a beauty, what an achievemen! I had a car like this - a 2001 midnight blue EU spec - and that was the first and the last time when I felt love for a car. And I felt that she loved me back. You and me may be continents apart - yet we are together in our love for these wonderful machines.
I just watched the "Car Care Nut: The Movie". A two hour video that I for the first time watched the entire thing. I have never watched a youtube video this long. Congrats you hooked me! I am not a man that gets jealous but I am absolutely jealous of this car. Concerning the cost to restore....to me that was worth it! To bring back to life one of the greatest cars ever built for the price of brand new Toyota Tundra SR5....I would have done it too.
Such a great job!!!! I also have LS430 2002, which is already 17 years in our family. Remember the first time when my dad bought it and gave me a ride from my university to home. This was the love at first sight. Now my dad is old and doesn’t drive. He wanted to sell it, but I persuaded him not to sell and this car is still with me. In spite of it has only 90k miles on the ODO, there is a lot of work to deal with. Scratches, oil leaks, and some other stuff. Engine is great and the car has no accidents and clean history. This car must live and with God’s blessing after some 20-30 years my children will still drive it and take care of it. You have the great channel, let God bless the work you do! I think many people can fully appreciate where you're coming from here, Amed. Ahmed - the sense of accomplishment you described is what many car folks feel when working on their cars - I have 1/100 of your mechanical ability, but I get great enjoyment for caring for the small mechanical things I can do and more from keeping the car looking good. I've just spent 20+ hours in buffing and polishing my daughter's 2011 Infiniti - she didn't get the car care nut gene - so it needed a decent amount of cosmetic work, but mechanically in excellent condition. I look back at it with the pride you've discussed in this video.
Awesome work, from start to finish! If you want to maintain the car close to as clean as Jason got it with minimal cost and effort, here is a short list of tips and a minimal set of supplies: Pick up some concentrated rinseless wash solution (you heavily dilute it in water as per the instructions so it goes really far), a slotted automotive sponge by The Rag Company or DIY Detail (they have special foam that will prevent scratches), a few jumbo-sized big puffy microfibers for drying, maybe a bottle of drying aid (it will dry a lot faster dry streak free), and always wash the microfibers that you use for washing the car without using any softener! Rinseless wash is specially formulated to grab onto dirt then release it super easy into your wash bucket (it even works great on interior cloth, leather, and plastic trim with a standard microfiber!). An automotive sponge is specially designed in combination with the rinseless wash to quickly lift the dirt off the paint and trap it in the slots to prevent scratching, but then effortlessly release it even if you barely dab it back in your bucket. If the rinseless wash leaves fine streaks on the paint due to insufficient drying, you can squeeze out your drying towel a bit or use a dry towel section with a few more drops of moisture and gently buff them off with a puffy microfiber drying towel and they'll go away super easy. To be extra safe on the paint, I always use the sponge gently and sopping wet (unless the panel is already wet, then I squeeze to the point that it's barely dripping). One or two gentle passes with the sponge will remove almost all dirt, grime, and the bulk of bug guts and some road tar. Once the rest of the panel is clean is the best time to deal with anything that wants to stick on super hard. For interior dust I do a quick pass with a Swiffer duster every week or so, as it grabs really well and won't scratch shiny trim, screens, or gauge bezels. I keep all the dry stuff in a plastic bag in my trunk organizer, so all I need to bring down to the car when it needs a wash is a freshly mixed bucket of properly diluted rinseless wash and any other fluids the job will require depending on how dirty it is (95% of the time the only liquid you'll need is rinseless wash if you wash every 1-2 weeks, just apply more moisture with the sponge if it's more dirty). If I'm dealing with caked on dirt, I'll mix some rinseless wash in any pump sprayer (even a $10 Walmart one will do, but an IK Foamer is even better), mist it on the entire surface and let it sit a few minutes as it will help break down the dirt without any scratching risk. A hose rinse is also okay, but you don't want pure tap water to dry on the panel or you will get water spotting due to the mineral deposits - rinseless wash does a good job of preventing this. Washing with rinseless, the slotted sponge, some regular microfibers, and some jumbo puffy drying microfibers only sets you back a few bucks of up-front cost s, and costs about $1-2 per wash! Once you get the technique down, it's faster and safer than a touchless car wash. I only use a touchless car wash a few times a year, and only when I need an undercarriage wash to get rid of salty snow to help prevent rust. More advanced but rare stuff: - For getting those complex grills clean, I spray em with rinseless wash out of a pump sprayer then hit em with a DIY Detail gentle soft flagged tip brush. - To make your tires look great, there really is no substitute for a dedicated wheel and tire cleaner/degreaser plus a tire brush followed with a tire dressing, but if you do not like the sopping wet look of most tire dressings, a little bit of the most generic Armor All Tire Foam you can find will leave some protection and a great looking finish (it can clean your tires but it's nowhere near as efficient as other wheel or tire cleaners). - To get the paint as smooth as possible, once every few years you need an iron remover and clay bar treatment, maybe sooner if you park outside. I recommend some Adam's Iron Remover as it's good enough and cheap, and any quality synthetic clay bar towel from a name brand (the cheap Amazon ones can scratch!), and on a cloudy day right after a wash so that the car is still wet, spray a few sprays of iron remover on each panel after it's soaking wet with rinseless wash or rainwater, and gently rub the textured surface of the synthetic clay bar towel on every part of the car, and this will remove tiny iron particles like brake dust or railroad dust, and tiny jagged dirt particles which have really stuck themselves so tightly into the clearcoat that even a pressure wash cannot get them out, leaving the body panels even on a super old car feeling incredibly smooth. Whenever using a clay bar or synthetic clay bar towel, ensure the panel is always wet, you want it to gently glide over the painted surface, you don't want it to rub on a dry spot or it may leave swirl marks which will need to be polished off - Bug guts, sap, road tar, bird droppings, and dried mineral deposits from untreated tap/hose/sprinkler water are far easier to remove while they're as fresh as possible, but if they're stubborn, there are specialized chemicals to help remove them such as bug/tar remover, water spot remover (or heavily diluted wheel acid). If they sit for long enough, they will etch the paint, and at that point you need to remove some of the clearcoat to remove the etching. For that you can use a little car polish on a microfiber then remove the residue with plenty of rinseless wash after, but it's a lot easier to get the microfiber clean if you get the polish out before it dries. - To protect your paint and plastic trim from fading, you absolutely need to apply some sort of carnauba wax/ceramic wax/graphene wax a few times per year when the car is clean. 1-2x per year if parked indoors, 3-4x per year if parked outside. - For glass, always try rinseless wash or soapy water before trying a glass cleaner, as 99% of the time a glass cleaner is unnecessary. To minimize streaking, the key is to get the glass as dry as possible. You can use the dirtiest lousiest rag you have on glass and it won't scratch. I only use my dirtiest most worn microfiber towels on wheels, but I wouldn't mind using them on glass too.
The way you are detailing the cost and reminiscing about the project at the end, how the entire scene is setup and the white light illuminates your Lexus... You are not only a master mechanic, but also highly talented in the art of video making.
Your closing statement is absolutely right. The monetary value of a vehicle at a particular moment in time is not, or should not be, the determinant of whether or not you keep or repair/restore it. I have just spent more than my '03 Camry is worth on repairing it. Foolish? Not when I consider that it is a near mint, one owner prior to me vehicle that I know the full history of. It has only covered 125,000 miles of mainly highway, rather than city driving. It uses no oil and, if I continue to look after it, should easily do that over again. And from a green/environmental perspective, keeping an older vehicle on the road, rather than throwing it away and buying a new one, makes a lot of sense. Hope the old girl gives you many more thousands of miles of happy motoring.

Mine only has 133k, and I e learned a lot working on it and watching this series. I only wish you were closer, for when issues pop up I don’t want to deal with in my driveway. So far, no issues of that nature has arisen in my 2 years of owning the car. This car is something to be proud of. This is the only time I've ever seen a stock vehicle completely taken apart, had parts replaced as needed, ( and replaced because "I'm going to do the job once") then stripped down to do "More than" a thorough cleaning and detailing, followed by other "extras." Can't forget how much camera time this car has seen, and now this "One Of A Kind" 651,000 + miles car has more than a second chance a new life! Better than a new car just off the assembly line because this car has had all those little "Gems, Suprises and debree" left behind by assembly line workers........Removed! This LS430 might be the luckiest Lexus car in the world. Pampered and taken care of by the hands of a mechanic who is very passionate and knows everything inside and out of a Toyota vehicle.
I drive an '02 Sequoia, and in the 7 years I've owned it, it's been my project vehicle. Looking up videos to fix things and gaining the knowledge and confidence to do it has saved me thousands. The truck has almost 400k on it, but everything still works, and the value of it doesn't lie in the monetary value. The value comes from the experiences and places I have with it.

First. I loved the series. I dont have patience hour long videos, but I watched your series from start to end. Thank you. I am listening to your reasoning for doing this project. I totally see your point. If I had the budget and skill like you, I would probably have done the same. I look at things from a different perspective. Not from the resale value of the car, but from what I want out of it and how much I would need to pay to get that from a new car. I love the luxury of the LS430, I love the engineering and how well it is put together. You dont find this in new cars. If you are buying a new car with the same level of luxury, you will be paying 2x for it. And what will you get? A lesser car from the build quality perspective and a car laden with new technology that you don’t really need, but will break and haunt you. You have brought this car to showroom standards for $65K. A new car of lesser quality will offset you at least $120K. In my books, you got the best of all worlds, God bless you. You got to fulfill a childhood dream, did something you enjoyed, got a beautiful “brand new 😉” car, and got to bring joy to many youtube subscribers. Thank you!

This was a great build series, I am speaking as a Lexus owner that Lexus parts are quite expensive over regular Toyota parts. I think maintenance is key to keeping these Lexus cars up. Also, you have to know a trusted mechanic who understands the product to service your car.

Wow! What a gorgeous Lexus. You're right. It doesn't make sense from a strictly financial standpoint, but when you do something for yourself, and it has meaning and a sense of accomplishment. Then it's worth every penny. I collect US coins. Most of my friends think I'm nuts for spending hundreds of dollars for a penny, nickel, or whatever. To me, it's finding that coin I've been searching for and in the best condition I can afford. Sometimes, I may pay a premium price for a coin, but it's worth it to me. I like the idea of taking the LS to the dealer and see what a service advisor would recommend. See just how honest they are.
My guy Ahmed loves what he does,He has great passion for his Job.Watching from Nigeria. Having issues with my Toyota Camry 2012. Torque converter issue. I showed my mechanic Ahmed's video on how it is easier to remove the engine first and then insert the converter rather than removing the gear box which is more difficult. He agreed with the idea and said why haven't they think of that,😊😊 I also told them that even after changing the torque converter they must update the gearbox software to get rid of the Problem. Honestly that is where we have a problem coz I don't think they have an idea how it's done. Anyone who can help me out please?
Great series, I miss my SC 300, it came out on the short side of a deer. I owned it since new and it had 250,000 miles on it. It was basically showroom new!
I recently bought a 2010 RX350 with under 100,000 miles! I watched you and have have had the Oil cooler changed to the metal component. I wonder if I should have the VVT lines changed, How do I know if they are metal or rubber? And, are there one or two lines? I totally understand why you want what you want and have such pride. You have a beautiful luxury car that will go another 600,000 miles!s Now I have another goal, to take such good care of my car I take it to 600,000 miles and Beyond!
Congrats. My wife and I bought a 2018 RX 350l with 49000 miles. $28k. My mechanic scoped it out . Amazing condition. We wanted all wheel drive, and Japan built. I love hearing from other happy RX 350 owners.
@@tomphillips2608 The only other drawback is the 2010 needs Premium gas and mileage only 2/3rd of what my 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid got.....so I have cut back on unnecessary driving. My husband now wants a Lexus Hybrid, . They are the best all around choice if you drive a lot. Find a mechanic outside the dealership you can trust, Change the oil every 5,000 miles, I ask for a Mobil 1 oil filter and do all the necessary fluids and hope your car will go 600,000 miles!
@@SwordofLight it’s the rear line only. “Front” of engine. Hard to see. Remove wheel and covers. The rubber part is just a small portion (about 20% of total length). I just changed an ‘07 150k still good rubber, but metal now. Good luck

Spectacular restoration. The majority of the LS430's i see are banged up with bumpers falling off, etc. truly this is an amazing car and major kudos for you filming and sharing this restoration! Wonderful job. I saw your tip on installing the rear camera bracket and how you said the majority of them are installed wrong, with the bracket exposed in front of the license plate. sure enough i had mine installed wrong on my 2002 ES300. 3 years ago i installed a touch screen Alpine Double Din with Apple Car play and a hardwired backup camera. at the time i didn't know the white wire is ground so i drilled and set a small screw inside the trunk lid for the ground. it worked so not changing it. I love these LS430's . Congrats!!!!

One cannot put a price tag on all of the intangibles that went along with restoring this car. Perhaps the most important thing here is that Mr. AMD is realizing the American dream. He's a shining example of someone who has God-given skills but never ceases to improve his knowledge. Combined with a work ethic that's beyond reproach, he has achieved prosperity and success that he could never have achieved in his native country. I totally get it. I have restored 3 cars in my life the same way. My 55 Chevy 2 dr hardtop I bought at a junkyard and restored it to pristine condition, but was then afraid to drive it. The second was a 1960 land rover series 80" that my son and i restored. He still drives it weekly 25 years later. There is no price on the satisfaction you get from bringing a beast you love back from the scrap yard. My third is a 1970 911S Porsche targa, still in process. Your series has renewed my interest in finishing this abandoned 40 year project. Thank you and congratulations. Job well done.
Ahmed, I watched this series all the way from the start and I cried tears of joy at the end. What a beauty, what an achievemen! I had a car like this - a 2001 midnight blue EU spec - and that was the first and the last time when I felt love for a car. And I felt that she loved me back. You and me may be continents apart - yet we are together in our love for these wonderful machines.
I just watched the "Car Care Nut: The Movie". A two hour video that I for the first time watched the entire thing. I have never watched a youtube video this long. Congrats you hooked me! I am not a man that gets jealous but I am absolutely jealous of this car.
Concerning the cost to restore....to me that was worth it! To bring back to life one of the greatest cars ever built for the price of brand new Toyota Tundra SR5....I would have done it too.

Such a great job!!!! I also have LS430 2002, which is already 17 years in our family. Remember the first time when my dad bought it and gave me a ride from my university to home. This was the love at first sight. Now my dad is old and doesn’t drive. He wanted to sell it, but I persuaded him not to sell and this car is still with me. In spite of it has only 90k miles on the ODO, there is a lot of work to deal with. Scratches, oil leaks, and some other stuff. Engine is great and the car has no accidents and clean history. This car must live and with God’s blessing after some 20-30 years my children will still drive it and take care of it. You have the great channel, let God bless the work you do! Fully understand and respect the work you’ve done with your gorgeous LS! Such cars deserve it!!!! Hello from Kazakhstan!!!❤

I cannot tell you how much I love this series and your passion about this particular car and LS430s in general. Your passion inspired me to search for and buy one myself. Mine is a 2005 with just over 170K miles. Even though I live in Maryland, I've seriously thought about bringing it to you. I consider you to be perhaps the most expert person on these cars in the entire country. Even more importantly, I admire the integrity with which you live your life. You are a blessing to this world. I wish I could join you for the meet up on August 10. I just might find a way to do it.
Ahmed - the sense of accomplishment you described is what many car folks feel when working on their cars - I have 1/100 of your mechanical ability, but I get great enjoyment for caring for the small mechanical things I can do and more from keeping the car looking good. I've just spent 20+ hours in buffing and polishing my daughter's 2011 Infiniti - she didn't get the car care nut gene - so it needed a decent amount of cosmetic work, but mechanically in excellent condition. I look back at it with the pride you've discussed in this video.

If you want to maintain the car close to as clean as Jason got it with minimal cost and effort, here is a short list of tips and a minimal set of supplies:
Pick up some concentrated rinseless wash solution (you heavily dilute it in water as per the instructions so it goes really far), a slotted automotive sponge by The Rag Company or DIY Detail (they have special foam that will prevent scratches), a few jumbo-sized big puffy microfibers for drying, maybe a bottle of drying aid (it will dry a lot faster dry streak free), and always wash the microfibers that you use for washing the car without using any softener!
Rinseless wash is specially formulated to grab onto dirt then release it super easy into your wash bucket (it even works great on interior cloth, leather, and plastic trim with a standard microfiber!). An automotive sponge is specially designed in combination with the rinseless wash to quickly lift the dirt off the paint and trap it in the slots to prevent scratching, but then effortlessly release it even if you barely dab it back in your bucket. If the rinseless wash leaves fine streaks on the paint due to insufficient drying, you can squeeze out your drying towel a bit or use a dry towel section with a few more drops of moisture and gently buff them off with a puffy microfiber drying towel and they'll go away super easy. To be extra safe on the paint, I always use the sponge gently and sopping wet (unless the panel is already wet, then I squeeze to the point that it's barely dripping). One or two gentle passes with the sponge will remove almost all dirt, grime, and the bulk of bug guts and some road tar. Once the rest of the panel is clean is the best time to deal with anything that wants to stick on super hard. For interior dust I do a quick pass with a Swiffer duster every week or so, as it grabs really well and won't scratch shiny trim, screens, or gauge bezels.
I keep all the dry stuff in a plastic bag in my trunk organizer, so all I need to bring down to the car when it needs a wash is a freshly mixed bucket of properly diluted rinseless wash and any other fluids the job will require depending on how dirty it is (95% of the time the only liquid you'll need is rinseless wash if you wash every 1-2 weeks, just apply more moisture with the sponge if it's more dirty). If I'm dealing with caked on dirt, I'll mix some rinseless wash in any pump sprayer (even a $10 Walmart one will do, but an IK Foamer is even better), mist it on the entire surface and let it sit a few minutes as it will help break down the dirt without any scratching risk. A hose rinse is also okay, but you don't want pure tap water to dry on the panel or you will get water spotting due to the mineral deposits - rinseless wash does a good job of preventing this.
Washing with rinseless, the slotted sponge, some regular microfibers, and some jumbo puffy drying microfibers only sets you back a few bucks of up-front cost s, and costs about $1-2 per wash! Once you get the technique down, it's faster and safer than a touchless car wash. I only use a touchless car wash a few times a year, and only when I need an undercarriage wash to get rid of salty snow to help prevent rust.
More advanced but rare stuff:
- For getting those complex grills clean, I spray em with rinseless wash out of a pump sprayer then hit em with a DIY Detail gentle soft flagged tip brush.
- To make your tires look great, there really is no substitute for a dedicated wheel and tire cleaner/degreaser plus a tire brush followed with a tire dressing, but if you do not like the sopping wet look of most tire dressings, a little bit of the most generic Armor All Tire Foam you can find will leave some protection and a great looking finish (it can clean your tires but it's nowhere near as efficient as other wheel or tire cleaners).
- To get the paint as smooth as possible, once every few years you need an iron remover and clay bar treatment, maybe sooner if you park outside. I recommend some Adam's Iron Remover as it's good enough and cheap, and any quality synthetic clay bar towel from a name brand (the cheap Amazon ones can scratch!), and on a cloudy day right after a wash so that the car is still wet, spray a few sprays of iron remover on each panel after it's soaking wet with rinseless wash or rainwater, and gently rub the textured surface of the synthetic clay bar towel on every part of the car, and this will remove tiny iron particles like brake dust or railroad dust, and tiny jagged dirt particles which have really stuck themselves so tightly into the clearcoat that even a pressure wash cannot get them out, leaving the body panels even on a super old car feeling incredibly smooth. Whenever using a clay bar or synthetic clay bar towel, ensure the panel is always wet, you want it to gently glide over the painted surface, you don't want it to rub on a dry spot or it may leave swirl marks which will need to be polished off
- Bug guts, sap, road tar, bird droppings, and dried mineral deposits from untreated tap/hose/sprinkler water are far easier to remove while they're as fresh as possible, but if they're stubborn, there are specialized chemicals to help remove them such as bug/tar remover, water spot remover (or heavily diluted wheel acid). If they sit for long enough, they will etch the paint, and at that point you need to remove some of the clearcoat to remove the etching. For that you can use a little car polish on a microfiber then remove the residue with plenty of rinseless wash after, but it's a lot easier to get the microfiber clean if you get the polish out before it dries.
- To protect your paint and plastic trim from fading, you absolutely need to apply some sort of carnauba wax/ceramic wax/graphene wax a few times per year when the car is clean. 1-2x per year if parked indoors, 3-4x per year if parked outside.
- For glass, always try rinseless wash or soapy water before trying a glass cleaner, as 99% of the time a glass cleaner is unnecessary. To minimize streaking, the key is to get the glass as dry as possible. You can use the dirtiest lousiest rag you have on glass and it won't scratch. I only use my dirtiest most worn microfiber towels on wheels, but I wouldn't mind using them on glass too.

Your closing statement is absolutely right. The monetary value of a vehicle at a particular moment in time is not, or should not be, the determinant of whether or not you keep or repair/restore it. I have just spent more than my '03 Camry is worth on repairing it. Foolish? Not when I consider that it is a near mint, one owner prior to me vehicle that I know the full history of. It has only covered 125,000 miles of mainly highway, rather than city driving. It uses no oil and, if I continue to look after it, should easily do that over again. And from a green/environmental perspective, keeping an older vehicle on the road, rather than throwing it away and buying a new one, makes a lot of sense. Hope the old girl gives you many more thousands of miles of happy motoring.

Mine only has 133k, and I e learned a lot working on it and watching this series. I only wish you were closer, for when issues pop up I don’t want to deal with in my driveway. So far, no issues of that nature has arisen in my 2 years of owning the car. This car is something to be proud of. Hopefully your youtube revenue covers a good portion of the costs for this series, and hopefully customers continue to flock to your shop because of it and your dedication. Thank you again CCN.

This is the only time I've ever seen a stock vehicle completely taken apart, had parts replaced as needed, ( and replaced because "I'm going to do the job once") then stripped down to do "More than" a thorough cleaning and detailing, followed by other "extras." Can't forget how much camera time this car has seen, and now this "One Of A Kind" 651,000 + miles car has more than a second chance a new life! Better than a new car just off the assembly line because this car has had all those little "Gems, Suprises and debree" left behind by assembly line workers........Removed!

This LS430 might be the luckiest Lexus car in the world. Pampered and taken care of by the hands of a mechanic who is very passionate and knows everything inside and out of a Toyota vehicle.
I drive an '02 Sequoia, and in the 7 years I've owned it, it's been my project vehicle. Looking up videos to fix things and gaining the knowledge and confidence to do it has saved me thousands.
The truck has almost 400k on it, but everything still works, and the value of it doesn't lie in the monetary value. The value comes from the experiences and places I have with it.

I am listening to your reasoning for doing this project. I totally see your point. If I had the budget and skill like you, I would probably have done the same. I look at things from a different perspective. Not from the resale value of the car, but from what I want out of it and how much I would need to pay to get that from a new car.
I love the luxury of the LS430, I love the engineering and how well it is put together. You dont find this in new cars. If you are buying a new car with the same level of luxury, you will be paying 2x for it. And what will you get? A lesser car from the build quality perspective and a car laden with new technology that you don’t really need, but will break and haunt you.
You have brought this car to showroom standards for $65K. A new car of lesser quality will offset you at least $120K.
In my books, you got the best of all worlds, God bless you. You got to fulfill a childhood dream, did something you enjoyed, got a beautiful “brand new 😉” car, and got to bring joy to many youtube subscribers. Thank you!

This was a great build series, I am speaking as a Lexus owner that Lexus parts are quite expensive over regular Toyota parts. I think maintenance is key to keeping these Lexus cars up. Also, you have to know a trusted mechanic who understands the product to service your car.

You're right. It doesn't make sense from a strictly financial standpoint, but when you do something for yourself, and it has meaning and a sense of accomplishment. Then it's worth every penny.
I collect US coins. Most of my friends think I'm nuts for spending hundreds of dollars for a penny, nickel, or whatever. To me, it's finding that coin I've been searching for and in the best condition I can afford. Sometimes, I may pay a premium price for a coin, but it's worth it to me.
I like the idea of taking the LS to the dealer and see what a service advisor would recommend. See just how honest they are.

Having issues with my Toyota Camry 2012. Torque converter issue. I showed my mechanic Ahmed's video on how it is easier to remove the engine first and then insert the converter rather than removing the gear box which is more difficult. He agreed with the idea and said why haven't they think of that,😊😊
I also told them that even after changing the torque converter they must update the gearbox software to get rid of the Problem. Honestly that is where we have a problem coz I don't think they have an idea how it's done.

Great series, I miss my SC 300, it came out on the short side of a deer. I owned it since new and it had 250,000 miles on it. It was basically showroom new!
I recently bought a 2010 RX350 with under 100,000 miles! I watched you and have have had the Oil cooler changed to the metal component. I wonder if I should have the VVT lines changed, How do I know if they are metal or rubber? And, are there one or two lines? I totally understand why you want what you want and have such pride. You have a beautiful luxury car that will go another 600,000 miles!s Now I have another goal, to take such good care of my car I take it to 600,000 miles and Beyond!
Congrats. My wife and I bought a 2018 RX 350l with 49000 miles. $28k. My mechanic scoped it out . Amazing condition. We wanted all wheel drive, and Japan built. I love hearing from other happy RX 350 owners.
@@tomphillips2608 The only other drawback is the 2010 needs Premium gas and mileage only 2/3rd of what my 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid got.....so I have cut back on unnecessary driving. My husband now wants a Lexus Hybrid, . They are the best all around choice if you drive a lot. Find a mechanic outside the dealership you can trust, Change the oil every 5,000 miles, I ask for a Mobil 1 oil filter and do all the necessary fluids and hope your car will go 600,000 miles!

@@SwordofLight it’s the rear line only. “Front” of engine. Hard to see. Remove wheel and covers. The rubber part is just a small portion (about 20% of total length). I just changed an ‘07 150k still good rubber, but metal now. Good luck

I wish that I could afford to restore my rare 2007 regular cab short bed 5.7L Tundra, it won't be restored but it will continue to be properly maintained, modified and repaired as needed.
Somes guys will restore a '70 Chevelle LS6 454 or '70 Hemi Cuda, but AMD restores an '01 LS430. Bravo, sir. Love the car.

Spectacular restoration. The majority of the LS430's i see are banged up with bumpers falling off, etc. truly this is an amazing car and major kudos for you filming and sharing this restoration! Wonderful job. I saw your tip on installing the rear camera bracket and how you said the majority of them are installed wrong, with the bracket exposed in front of the license plate. sure enough i had mine installed wrong on my 2002 ES300. 3 years ago i installed a touch screen Alpine Double Din with Apple Car play and a hardwired backup camera. at the time i didn't know the white wire is ground so i drilled and set a small screw inside the trunk lid for the ground. it worked so not changing it. I love these LS430's . Congrats!!!!

That era of lexus when they were at the peak. Before the ugly grilles and the over aggressive seat bolsters and the cars were super dependable.
What an amazing journey to be able to watch this from start to finish. I have a lot of respect for mechanic’s like yourself especially a Toyota and Lexus fan. It makes me feel like I’m not the only weird one that has the respect for Toyota and Lexus and making sure repairs are done properly and with genuine parts no matter the cost!! I hope to one day meet you Amd and your team and I wish that I could show you my Pride and Joy that I’ve too done the same kind of work…..but I don’t think it’ll be very cheap for me to ship my Avalon Grande all the way from Australia to your country 😂.
