What a wonderful thought of all the stitchers that were there due to past experiences with the physically present stitchers. I love this sentiment!

Your video was just wonderful Jackie, but I am sure your heart is broken , as all of ours are, after learning of Jean’s death. She has left a legacy that we all want to honor - by continuing to stitch what we love and to remember her kindness and grace. Looking forward to your next video as you too have a gentle spirit.

I very much enjoyed your recap of Sampler Symposium. I don't consider myself a sampler stitcher despite the two I currently have in rotation *whistles innocently.* However, I really do enjoy seeing and hearing other people share and enthuse about their sampler projects. It's a genre of the cross stitching world that I wouldn't have known about if it weren't for flosstubers and hearing about sampler-specific retreats. I enjoyed your time with Bridgette Powers and it's really awing how someone from days can by can touch our lives and those down the road. The threads that bind us all together. ❤ Lots of fun haul and swag! Thanks for sharing. I'm so happy you were able to show Jean your finished Bridgette. That was a beautiful moment to see in the photos.

Thank you for this video, as someone living on the other side of the world and unfortunately not able to go to retreats etc in the US it is great to get so much information from them. Thank you also for sharing so much of your personal experience. These events are as much about the people as they are about the subject matter (so to speak), I have worked at international quilt retreats in my country (The Netherlands) so have seen wonderful connections being made and contacts kept often very long distance. Your words about samplers at the end really say what I feel about them. I have only been stitching for a year (quilting for decades) and have found that the old samplers with their stories, their personalities are ' my thing' . The emotional connection to the stitcher that once was.
    🙏

Your sharing of the retreat made me feel as if I was there I don’t stitch samplers but that does not stop my enjoyment of hearing about the history Being with people who share your interest is such a special moment that has no words to describe that feeling of togetherness that will last for a lifetime

Hello from Tennessee! Thank you for an amazing journey. You sound like you might be an empath. My oldest child and I have the same things happen to us. Not everyone can stand still and actually feel the world around them.... Past, present and maybe future? Only another that's experienced that feeling can truly understand the depth. It's nearly overwhelming and thick and yet so sheer that others can't see it. 😊. Thank you again for sharing with us. Love you bunches.

Jackie, having watched several other FlossTube videos from various attendees of Sampler Symposium, yours is by far the best one I have watched! Just listening to you sharing your experience, the people who attended, the teachers and the projects was so inspiring! Listening to you talk about all of the special memories you have made, as well as the time spent with Jean Lea just touched me deeply. I loved hearing your thoughts about how the legacy of the girls who stitched these samplers is perhaps all we have to know about them and keep their memory alive. I can see that this is a trip and retreat of a lifetime! Someday I hope to visit The Attic. The quote you shared at the end of your video was just a perfect way to sum up your experience. Thank you so much!

About Quaker… I have meant to share with you that a few years ago Gary on Fibre Talk interviewed Jacob de Graaf about Quaker samplers. It was in depth and sent me straight to my first quaker piece….I was and remain a raving fan🙂. I am sure you can search the interview and enjoy it as part of your research. BTW, I play your meditation video often as I “sometimes “ cannot fall asleep. Please feel free to produce more!

I only see your flosstube now, after Jean's passing, of course now you look and listen different to your flosstube, it's sad, she is missed by lots and lots of people. A force of women like you talked about in your flosstube, all the women you 'felt' that moment in the Attic, all those women who cross stitched now and in the passed. I got moved when you shared that thought, we could need more of that forces from the past and the present, right now, with everything that is happening in the world right now. Oh well, there's only so much I can do and hope.
Have a nice day Jackie and thank you for sharing. It's a pitty you only visit the UK and Ireland, I would have loved to let you see the Netherlands. -xx-

Jackie, just what I’ve been waiting for; a trip to the Attic, Sampler Symposium with you as my guide. 💛. Every time I would see a post from Synposium, I would search for you. 😢I never found you, but 250 attendees, WOW, I’d have been sitting in my corner never moving or opening my mouth. Thank you for sharing your experience, I loved seeing things from your perspective, and am glad you include this in Flosstube #12.
It was so cool you had a finish of Light by Barbara Anna to share with us. A perfect piece shining your light from your joy and happiness in AZ. I still have that piece in my mental list of projects. Along with Light, I am still enthralled with your Sampler Across the Sea SAL, One Stitch at a Time by La-D-Da. It is great you are relaxed about having approximately 4 wips, I am working to use better time management, and I definitely see the value of fewer wips and more time on each.
I am so excited about your Quaker project, and your increased interest in all the Quakers. I know I will be on the receiving end of your research interest. I have a few Quaker charts, more on my wish list, and a few kitted, and one finished, October Quaker (tree) by Liz Matthews. I haven’t decided which is next, maybe by your next video I’ll know.
Each speaker and project sounded so interesting. Thanks for taking time to give us the wonderful picture. I loved your early comment ‘don’t apologize for what you purchase.’ This should be a first rule for anyone going to a feast of this caliber. If you’re going, you hopefully brought funds for purchasing. To go to the banquet and not eat would be a travesty and
disappointing to the chef (Jean)! I think you showed great discipline in not over eating😅.
In my limited experience, anyone that cares about their coffee travels with the makings. I’m not a coffee drinker, but I feel the same way about what I want for snacks on trips to unfamiliar territory. Having what comforts us just makes the trip easier.
Your reaction to considering the stitchers, and the generations involved in our pursuit of stitching ourselves, and how overwhelming that feeling became just fulfilled what Jeanette Douglas shared, ‘…you have touched the soul of the craft.’ And the craft has touched your soul, Jackie. And you reach out to touch me with your genuine feelings and enrich my life. And as you spoke about Jean, and how she focuses on who she is listening to, and how your emotions surfaced at that time; you do the same thing. When you are speaking to me, you are focused on me, and I am focused on listening. Your gift is so beautiful.
The pins you crafted were so special, what lucky recipients your roommates and table mates and others were. You received lovely gifts also. The best gift, though, was simply being there, SHARING the EXPERIENCE.
I’m glad Bridget traveled with you, and was well received. You and she both deserve recognition for your beautiful work.
Thank you so much for sharing on this flosstube. Until next time,
    Blessing and hugs,
    Peg

It was lovely to (briefly!) meet you at Symposium, and I can't thank you enough for your kind words. As a teacher, it's the most satisfying, validating, and rewarding thing to know that a student learned something, or gained useful knowledge, and can take that forward, so a very heartfelt thank you, and I look forward to seeing how you use it on your upcoming project! Thank you for sharing your unique experience and thoughts from the symposium. I had already watched a couple of flosstuber's reviews of their experience there, but I was most moved by what you said of your thoughts as you stood in place during a break. Looking around the room and realizing the stitching hands, past and present, who had come together at that time and place was very impactful for me. The connections to those angles is there for us to be still and feel/notice.

Hello Jackie, What a fabulous sharing of Symposium 2025! I don't think I have ever heard such a wonderful and thorough sharing by anyone else before. I especially loved it because I may never get to a Symposium due to many things. It is a bucket list item for me. And now I am afraid I may never get to meet that incredible lady whom everyone loves to pieces - Jean Lee. Thank you so much for all that you shared, for all of your enthusiasm for it, for conveying the depth of participation of soul that you had. It did come across and I have never been to a retreat! Your description of all the women and girls who were there 'in spirit" if not in person, and all of the personal ancestors of those who actually participated, and the participants themselves. It was so wonderful to hear about it all. I also didn't realize how much other shop owners contributed their time and help. What an amazing community we belong to!l. Thank you also for sharing your sticking with us. Your Antoinette Sampler is just incredible! I have a few red samplers I need to get working on, for mostly, they are large and if I want to finish them in my lifetime, I need to start them.... Also I loved the little red strawberries you made. They were just so cute. Thank you for it all. I could imagine myself there with all your wonderful descriptions and comments and joy!

Thank you for sharing your Sampler Symposium experience! As you were talking about how special and touching it was to spend that time with so many people in one place sharing a love for stitching, it reminded me of the sacred moments I have experienced in church when everyone comes together during songs of worship for example. Those moments of sacred community are when we feel most connected and feel joy and peace simultaneously. Thank you for bringing that to my recollection, especially given I haven't been to church in a long time. There are many ways in which we can feel a part of something bigger than ourselves and so special that you were able to experience that at Sampler Symposium.

Great video review of SamplerSymposium. Love your choice of color. Barefoot Needleart in Myrtle Beach has some wonderful linen colors. I think you need to take your Quaker to the bar and match your whiskey to your floss .Lol. Love your strawberries.

I absolutely enjoyed this Flosstube as there was so much I didn’t take in and you going over the presentations was so helpful. Like you said the feeling in the room was exciting, overwhelming, loving, informational, and so on. I was stitching along and listening then you said my and Liane’s names, all stitching stops, I couldn’t believe it. It was a joy to see your Brigette as it really is special and being able to talk to you for a time was great. I also have so many things I want to stitch this year. Thank you for your videos, love them.

Thank you Jackie for a wonderful floss tube today. I am so happy you all had a wonderful time and I would so love to go one day. I think I could spend a whole week just at The Attic .Although fairly new to cross stitch I am totally loving this rabbit hole, although I fear my stitching may be doomed as although working on my Blessings Sampler I am never going to get it finished by the end of January!! unless of course I dare pull a sickie from work and shut my self away with floss tube and coffee!!.... now there is a wonderful thought! Happy stitching and I really look forward to your next floss tube xxx

Hi Jackie. Loved your "Light" finish..I am presently stitching "Dreaming Girl" by Barbara Ana as my 80th Birthday start and allowing myself 80 days to complete. I know it won't take that long but I am enjoying every stitch. I love all of your beautiful projects. And I love your soothing voice and your meditation moments. Great to see you this evening Jackie. We've just come out of a 42+ power cut thanks to Storm Eowyn so it was a real treat to watch you. Loved your recall of Sampler Symposium. It looked like an amazing weekend. I recognised a few familiar faces from Flosstube. So glad you got to show Bridget to Jean, a very special moment. We celebrate her namesakes feast day here next weekend. There are a number of events happening in her honour, so I'll be thinking of your Bridget.
Take care, best wishes from 🇮🇪

So glad you had a Great time at the Symposium Jackie, I certainly would be overwhelmed and excited being amongst so many stitchers and to sit and listen to the talks would have been wonderful. I’ve been drawn to Quaker designs lately, I joined the Fox & Rabbit mystery monthly Sal 2025 to get me into that way of design, I’m looking forward to seeing how that turns out. Loved seeing all your goodies and haul ( never apologise) Thanks for sharing the lovely slideshow of the weekend love seeing other flosstubers as well. ❤ ps: the dinkydi thread called Cobar is named after a country town in New South Wales here in Australia 🇦🇺 Maree

Your insights are appreciated. I am a self taught stitcher. I think there are more self taught stitchers then people think. I do believe children in grammer school should be exposed to all fiber arts: cross stitch, quilting, knitting, crochet, embroidery, sewing, etc. Children need a creative outlet. 🦋

I really enjoy doing Quaker samplers and have gravitated to them more and more as I have developed a retinal problem that can really cause havoc with my stitching. It helps not having to deal with numerous color changes and a lot of symmetry seems to be easier to follow. An added bonus for me has been in the past month while doing some geneology research up popped 4th great grandparents who were Quakers immigrating from Great Britain.

As a stitcher, vision issues would be so challenging, I’m glad you have found something that still feels comfortable for you to do. How cool that you have a Quaker connection!
