- In today episode of out and about model railways we visit the Channel tunnel Folkestone terminal modelled in n gauge
This layout is huge and is truly stunning and is available to see running from 6th of April and every weekend and bank holiday onwards till late November at he elham valley line trust Folkestone
* I do not own this layout but just simply maintain and run the layout with 2 other colleagues
I hope you all enjoyed the video and check back soon as there will be plenty more to come
Regards Oliver
That is one impressive model railway and I am glad that it still exists to this day. Thanks for the video. Really enjoyed that!
Great video, at 2:47 it actually nearly sounds like a Eurostar! And that's going to become a bit of serious history in another thirty years.
I have a Cl 92 Built by Chris Marchant who died recently ,he was the builder of this lay-out ,I remember Chris well at TENG show !!!
It was built by 4 people in total 🙂
This gives an idea of why the tunnel cost so much, l would not be picking up the bill for this model!
Haha very cool! Would love to see. Thanks for sharing
I recall taking the Eurostar a week after the chunnel was completed. A sign hung on the giant boring machine visible from the train: For Sale: One Owner
Brilliant layout! I'll look forward to seeing it next year!
Wow a super layout, looked a great dayout, thanks for sharing … cheers … steve :)
Nice Video!! It is a very good model, greetings from Spain, I subscribe
Excellent!
That's a very creative layout love it
Thats one hell of a layout ,loved it . have subbed cheers Paul at Splottlands MRYCG
Thank you Paul I’m extremely grateful for the support .
Great video mate
I'd love to see le Tunnel trains in OO gauge. I have a modern layout with Eurostar but I'd love to model a bit of the tunnel.
Benedict McConalogue
Hmmm you might struggle with that sadly no oo Guage le shuttle stock made 😔
Me too. Do you know how many others want it? If we could generate enough interest we could approach a manufacturer
It is an amazing layout, but I think it would look better running the trains at more of a scale speed. Having them race around like that does look a bit toy like.
Amazing layout. Are those scale speeds. I know Eurostar is fast, but that looked extra fast, even for that train!
There not quite scale speeds , the layout runs a automated magnet and Reed system with difrent running patterns to how many trains we want ruining I think as of march 2022 we have 12 trains running it’s not normally that amount
The original layout when it had all 4 parts there used to be a kings cross section the Folkestone section as in the vedio a tunnel section and and the French end there used to be 24 sometimes more running
Much to fast, doubled speed in average...
@@pollemar They could perhaps undertake some timings over scale distances to improve the accuracy of the modelling?
@@PreservationEnthusiast Yes, 160 kph limit in reality, cargo is maybe 120 ok, topspeed only in the tunnel. In model 30 cm/s and 20 cm/s, rounded. Maybe a little bit more. But not doubled... I know, the TGV/Eurostar from Kato can do over 400, but it's not good.
hey what is shuttle locomotive call
Eurotunnel class 9
Theres no over head catenary 😪
I am sorry, but i dont like it. Boring layout, feels to „cold“ and the speed of the trains os not very realistic
