During the battle of moscow, the russians released prisoners such as Arsonists and other dangerous prisoners and ordered them to burn down moscow. As the french entered, the city was already in flames as everyone had left, Napolean was furious as he had expected to take the city intact.
I really enjoyed these two episodes, and while I do understand that you don't want too long videos, you missed many battles that were important, such as: Jena( Napoleon broke the prussian army at Jena in 1806), Friedland and eylau( Napoleon makes peace with the russians after decisively defeating them at these places in 1807). Wagram (in 1809 this was one of the most bloodiest battles of the napoleonic wars and lasted for 2 days after the austrians finally withdrew marking the end of the fifth coalition) vittoria ( Arthur Wellesley earns he's name as duke of wellington after succesfuly breaking bonapartist rule over spain in 1813) anyway, great video. I'll also leave a few suggestions: thirthy years war great northern war the deluge taiping rebellion english civil war and since tomorrow will be march 15, a video about the Hungarian revolution of 1848?
I may just like this version of history more with the silliness of these battles and how close they get to possibly having the side that lost the battle in history win is quite exciting!
Also, the army led by the iron duke at the battle of waterloo wasn’t strictly british, there were dutch-belgian troops in the centre and German forces at the outposts in front of the ridge. It’d be better to call it an anglo-allied army.
An idea when creating Napoleonic units, give them a world war backpack, the legacy shirt or renaissance sash, and a chu ko nu quiver. The backpack hides the quiver, but you still get to see the straps going both ways.
When the french sent the cavalry against the british soldiers, they formed up in square formations as the horses did not charge through them making them easy targets. But that same thing that saved them from the cavalry made them targets of french artillery which made it like a duck hunt.
Napoleon could’ve won, but when Wellington’s position was weakest after La Haye Sainte was captured Napoleon instead sent men to capture a town from the Prussians. If he’d pushed from La Haye Sainte more and took advantage of Wellington’s crumbling centre he could’ve emerged victorious using a flanking manoeuvre, but he didn’t which was ultimately his downfall at Waterloo.
@@dannyengineer9862 Most sources agree that La Haye Sainte could’ve let Napoleon win, if he wasn’t so obsessed with capturing another Prussian town. I do wonder though if he could’ve taken it before the Prussians arrived if he changed his tactics. Instead of a diversionary attack against Hougoumont, what if he just sent forces to keep them busy? His main force could’ve quickly overwhelmed the garrison of La Haye Sainte, since they only had 60 rounds per rifle and only a few hundred men. With the farming complex captured, Napoleon could’ve used it as a forward base and split the anglo-allied army potentially before the Prussians arrived. Against Hougoumont Napoleon wouldn’t’ve outright stormed it, but simply dug in around it to prevent men from fleeing to it or moving to aid the men in La Haye Sainte.
@@carrott36 Frankly, Its like rolling dice. He wanted to take another Prussian town instead of this one, The problem is that this one was more tactically important. But how could he have known the British were weak there?
So russia sweden Austrians have kill the cavalry already and they have gourmet stuck on the stairs and French soldiers may have tried their best to kill most of the soldiers but they fought well and they have lost the napoleon strikes back with his own cavalry again may have lost alot of soldiers but they have tried their best
Not to forget how intimidating it was. Arrow fire was hard to coordinate, with different people having different optimal draw times and how you can’t keep it held for more than around 8 seconds using a longbow in most cases. Therefore, people would randomly drop dead around you, what you’re used to in melee combat. When using gunpowder however, the entire front line would just die. Every weapon could be set off at almost the exact same time, so every man hit would drop dead at almost the exact same time, which would be incredibly scary especially considering skilled nobles would often fight in the front lines for chances at glory and prisoners.
@@carrott36 true Also, a longbow had the draw weight of 200 POUNDS, so after just 5 - 6 arrows, even the most experienced lonbowmen would take longer than the usual time to fire, like 15 seconds.
@@The_Honourable_CompanyOr rather, the opposite. They would be able to aim for less and less time, and eventually not be able to fire at all due to their tired state.

Amazing video mate, you never fail to impress! Napoleon was definitely one of the best War Tacticians, If not the best.

So Arcduke Charles won then?
I mean, when the only viable option against him is running away, you’re probably right.
