This hit very close to home. My grandfather loves to travel but by car just as much as me. We would often have road trips every weekend. He passed away a couple years ago and road trips won't be the same without him and his stories.
I used to do those trips when I was younger and had the money. Such wonderful memories! I am happy to know I was not the only one who just loved to fly, not caring about the destination!
There are youtube channels with Aviation enthusiasts that fly just for the sake of trying all the different airlines and aircraft types. Most of them do leave the airports they arrive at, but usually only for a day or two. I love watching these channels as I can fly vicariously by watching them!
IICLUII, think as a Flyer Talk subscriber I know this case and similar ones, and I do think he fought this case in US Courts against AMERICAN AIRLINES (based in Dallas, TX), which for a time (IIRC) in the'80s did sell those UNLIMITED FLIGHT VOUCHERS. For financial or whatever reasons notwithstanding, things like these is what have made the US 3 Large Legacy Airlines (AA, DL and UA) so despised by many travelers...
Unfortunately Mr. Vroom actually lost his case with AA because they found out he was selling the companion tix and gaining a profit, hence Mr Vroom breach the contract himself.

Once id a trip from London Gatwick to Iceland to seethe Northern Lights on a day trip , flying out am and returning evening, and stayed in the airport the whole time bar taking a walk outside for a short while. A real enjoyable return flight, and actually did see the Northern Lights over the Northern Atlantic. Cabin crew switched cabin lights off for passengers to see lights better.
i have the same problem. i fly regularly to japan (once every 2 years) but its one of the longest flights you can make from my location. only australia takes longer!

man I heard about those unlimited passes a while back and I so wish I had one. 😂 I'd totally fly places just to go shopping. I live in the middle of friggen no where, we're lucky to have a Walmart (and JUST a Walmart, basically) but we do have an airport 5 minutes from my house that services MSP and ORD. I'd take the morning flight out, go shopping, come back on the evening one. oh, and like, visit family and stuff....

Sitting at the window, listening to the flight attendants instructions for in case of an emergency, the ding of the seat belt lights going on and off. Hearing the pilot come over the speakers prior to the landing. The clouds and watching the sunset while over the clouds. Looking at the water or ground from my seat. Just typing about it excites me!
