@@nettiewolverinethunderbird8341 Yes I really think this show was ahead of the curve when it came to Watson! I love the Lestrade character too. Howard's take on Holmes is great!
@@pamelacorbett8774 When Jeremy Brett first took the role he consulted Doyle's estate holder. Brett put that snap in the character but he said that was the only way he could portray genius thinking. Holmes has been portrayed as the Victorian gentleman which he often is in the novels but he's usually occupied on drugs or reclusive.
I was unaware of this Sherlock Holmes series until I came across some DVDs in a discount store. (I eventually obtained the complete series on Amazon or something--on-line.) Marion Crawford and Ronald Howard (the son of Leslie Howard). As much as I enjoy Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce, this television depiction has become my favorite. BTW, both Ronald Howard and Basil Rathbone closely resemble the Sidney Paget illustrations of Holmes that accompanied the Strand's stories (in my opinion, at any rate).
Theres one with michael caine and ben kingsley. It shows watson played by ben kingsley as the brains behind SH. Michael caine as usual in his usual fashion funny and delightful to watch. With these two Sirs it was a treat.
The young lad playing the part of 11 year old Andrew Fenwick was Richard O` Sullivan who later became a famous comedy actor. When this was filmed he was himself 11 years old.
Although he had a stroke in 2003 he is very much still alive. If by any chance he comes across your post I'd like to tell him how delightful he played this role. Most talented for sure and Cheers to you both.
Richard O'Sullivan (born 7 May 1944) is an English comedy actor known for his role as Robin Tripp in the TV sitcoms Man About the House (1973-1976) and Robin's Nest (1977-1981). Here he plays the young boy, Andy Fenwick, who hires Holmes.
Hello j'adore cette série mais mon englich forgotten mettez au moins des sous-titres en français si vous pouvez merci d'avance d'y penser (ah oui think ) thanks for Ronald ❤
That first story was massively stupid. He doesn't have 1,000 lbs and the bookmaker will kill him so Holmes sends him home so they will find him and kill him?!
Not sure of episode # but I noticed one of the ladies with a beautiful necklace, film being in black and white I cant make out the stones, maybe ruby and diamond?
Or failing that train to be a chef with a hope to own a small restaurant, and if neither of those materialise then I'll just become a famous Highwayman, all depends how things go in ancient Egypt
I love to watch Sherlock Holmes shows. They are great, still today.
Thank you.
I like Ronald Howard the best. This is a very entertaining show.
I feel like I'm in the room.
I love Sherlock Holmes and am always on the look out for new versions to watch, so thank you
This pair is the best. The other Holmes treat Watson like a slave. This one he's smart and tough

This Sherlock is far too nice, not as Conan Doyle described him, though I do like the actor.

He's only on drugs when he hasn't got a case.. boredom @@usedscar
I like these guys, warmer.
This pair I think are playing it more on the light side. They are more true to life.
So much more enjoyable to see Sherlock with a sense of humor.
I like Sherlock here doesn't act as shrewd and rather humble

This is one of the earlier productions that had actors the actual ages of Holmes & Watson.
This is a combo of French and British production & actors.

I enjoy this Sherlock and Watson. The other fella portrays a war hero as a buffoon.

Mine too basil rathbone is my favorite too
Thank you for sharing
There are times when he very much reminds me of his father
In comparison with Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes this seems as a comedy but it's still good
I love this series , it is cool and funny too❤
I have to agree with nettiewolverine about this Sherlock Holmes- the other Watson was made to look stupid
Basil Rathbone
Jeremy Brent
Ronald Howard
😊😊😊
There is also Ronald Howard, he was very good as well
Jeremy Brett?
@@ninaalmark7584Yes, Ron Howard makes a convincing Holmes, even if played with more humour than the others.

Questa serie è stata mai doppiata in italiano? Se si qualcuno mi sa dire dove posso acquistarla o su quale canale la posso vedere?
Why show it distorted?
Uploader, the description is completely wrong. The description is Episode 1 and not what you uploaded
I like one oh Howard he is a good man not to demanding like what do you do for me, Jeremy Brett bossy lol but I lv him too ❤😅
The Case of the Unlucky Gambler

Ronald Howard is so cute and Watson is great. The BR ones are just awful. Jeremy Brett is Holmes, though.
