I will always love the 80's Version of last of the summer wine, the banter between Compo and Nora Batty is simply priceless 😂😂😂. RIP both of them I bet they are up there giving one and other hell.
Peter Sallis & Bill Owen were very good friends off screen, they are buried next to each other in the same cemetery in Yorkshire, their close friendship comes across in the show, among the best double acts of all time in my mind.

Compo is my favorite!! Always cracks me up every time. British TV just smokes the garbage we have in the USA now. You’d never see that calendar on a tv show here.
Some of the most popular American sitcoms like Sanford and son and all in the family are based on British sitcoms like Sanford and son is based on the british sitcom Steptoe and son and all in the family is based on till death do us part. There is some good original American sitcoms but there is not many.
This and "Open all hours" with Ronnie barker are my 2 favs...Thanks for posting P.s. They are written by the same man..And a lot of the poeple on here are on it..Like Kathy Staff
I was born on 4/6/1974! I would have just turned 43 when he died. RIP next to Bill Owen, they're all buried in the churchyard there. There where they spent the best 27yrs of their lives.🙏❤️😢

It was mentioned that Wally and Eli served together in the war. Wally worked for the railroad when the war broke out and would have been exempt from military service. See "First of the Summer Wine". Seymour, Clegg and Ivy worked for the Cooperative.

NR had them when she was 18 and obviously again when she was older. She was supposed to be a role model for high school students?!

They didn't see Eye to Eye on everything, but friendships are always more fun when you can have a good argument ever know an then.
the cat that belonged to Nora Batty is buried with Edie Gormet
This show is family humor. I ❤all the people on it. Wish I seen this land where it was filmed.
Great memories of watching this round me Nan’s house 🏡 on a Sunday back in the 80’s 😊
They make it so effortless that you believe every moment could really be happening somewhere in Yorkshire, and you hope it is .
Somewhere it is.
David Smith I could spend all day playing the fool with those three

The American comedy has nothing on the UK or Irish comedies

Yeah but she did
RIP Peter Sallis who died yesterday (04/06/2017)
The three are gone. Such pleasure they brought to many lives.
Don't tell us things like this. What has "died" to do with these?

Could have joined up before the exemption came in. Mining was exempt. Thousands of miners still joined up . Durham Light Infantry were mostly miners

Michael Grady and Sarah Thomas are still here! Delightful!
Goodhearted feel good humour at its best ...I hate the BBC and what it stands for but this show was a highlight of my childhood 👌
Yeah same

WISH SUMMER WINE WOULD RRTURN TO TV.
They are all dead sadly it's just not the same without them 😢
So good comedy’s 👏🦉
Eli, playing darts, priceless comedy, lost to American comedy.
Oh cleggy I like him the part about chewing on grass
good ol clegg. he’s my favorite.
Good old Seymour I like a chap with too much motor

Love these shows. Nothing in America even close to being this good
And I am American. My grandmother was from Cumberland

And yet, they feel the need to tell us that smoking and or racism is on view...sheesh!
And yet pornographic 'comics' in middle schools/elementary school 'libraries' is fine.
