HI THERE HIDING IN MY HOUSE IM HERE TO ANNOUNCE THAT BY TOMORROW I WILL MAKE A DOCUMENTARY VIDEO ABOUT THIS MYSTERY NOW HERE I ROMANIA WILL BE THE TIME OF 9AM THE DATE OF 27 DON'T WORRY I WILL NOT BE RUDE HAVE A GREAT DAY MY BOYS
I kind of prefer you using an abstract background rather than having you narrate in front of the camera. Not that I don't enjoy seeing you, but I generally have your videos on a second monitor while I'm working. An animated background is less distracting while I'm listening and I look at your visual aids when they come up. The eye kind of naturally gets drawn to a face (not to mention vlogger jump cuts that I understand the necessity for, but still have old man scorn for). I'm guessing a lot of people experience them the same way, so it might be something to consider. If you enjoy doing it this way more, or if it's easier on your workload or better for engagement somehow, please continue to do so. Just some thoughts on your work that I'll continue to enjoy regardless.
Personally, I like it either way. I see what you mean, and I get you. I do kind of like that feeling from the non-POV: maybe not _mysterious,_ but sort-of "separated", in a sense, like a wall of disinterest (not "uninterested", to be clear) or even dissolving some of the wall, like a "voice inside my head" feel, almost. It definitely gives a vibe. However, I do also like the facecam POV, because in spite of the above, it can create a bit more of a sense of connection - in the sense of ARGs, mind, not a parasocial thing. And I actually only _watched_ the first few minutes and glances throughout, my eyeballs focused on doing something while the video played and I listened. So... OP: Your insight did make me think, expanding on the little feeling I got at the start, like, "oh, this is new, and different." [Then feeling it out, of course.] So, I clearly have no strong preference between one or the other; I suppose it may yet be something useful to consider. That is, hopefully this waffling is somehow a bit helpful as well - even much, much less so. Heh. OK dead honest? I like the connection & closer aesthetic of the facecam (especially for an ARG, we all work together), _but_ I also like the basically opposite aesthetic/style of the classic NN videos. The disembodied voice with minimal images for illustrative purposes. I think it's a matter of... eh, I hate the word, but... branding? If it were up to me - which it luckily isn't - I'd say to keep the style I'm used to because I fear change and I find comfort in the minimalist style (and zero chance of jumpscares, even "whoops! Bumped the mic!") - _BUT_ the periodical facecam is always a welcome change that even I'm comfortable with and enjoyed the change of pace. (Figuratively. I didn't want to say "tone", but maybe a tiny bit?) Plus, >0% chance of cat! (+/-1% lol) OP, great input. Very well put. This is my attempt to add to it. (Pause for laughter... or cricket...) NM (I feel weird just calling you David, erm, Mr. Stockdale... NM it is.) - As ever, your insight on the topic is fantastic. Great video. (Not just because HAIR. Just me being a goofball. ...Though it does look nice is all.)
I really prefer this new format. It's nice seeing people's faces when they are comfortable. I hope you continue in this direction. I feel like it breaks down the loneliness wall. Maybe this sounds crazy, but you know. You're room seems very comfortable too! Thank you for sharing. 🐈⬛💖
Great video and great analysis. I don’t know how much the arg is about the genre, but one of the things that drew me to it was its acknowledgement of the genre. Hollis being aware of his fictionality is interesting, the last video may support that. Also, another thought I had is that the theater of the absurd criticism completely applies to video games as well- you are an actor, but can only act in the ways the game anticipates, lest the entire piece break down
I’ve been following this from the beginning and oh my lord your analysis absolutely fascinates me. I’m going to have to watch this a few times to grasp everything you’re saying but I really think you’re onto something here. Amazing thank you!
1:43 Aw, ya look great! How had I not noticed how great your hair looks?! (Banal, I know, but I just started the video and noticed that flowing mane. OwO)
the meme of charlie from always sunny in the beginning is so funny, my real irl therapist has also joked that that image is me during a paranoid episode, LOL
So I'm rewatching this because according to Hollis and Anthony, the series is done. Not sure if you'll do another video, but what I found interesting is they both said they lied at various times, though not about what specifically, and that "everything you saw was real".
Okay, I have been a fan of your videos for a while and have been watching them in random order...but dude...your hair is so pretty. Like, how do you do it? Awesome analysis as usual!
"if you haven't watched this series, then i strongly reccomend you watching those videos" gurl i'm only here because the original videos are too scary. I'm as high as a kite rn, smoking my beloved canadian kush and i simply cannot stand a single frame of big spooky. One frame of big spooly and i'm gone ok?
The video was made to give more exposure to the series, but in an odd turn of events gave the audience exposure to you. I haven't watched the video in full yet but you seem like an interesting channel to keep following in dark media. Interest piqued.
I discovered this series through IAM and after about 2 weeks, I stopped following it because of the ARG pretense that didn't seem to involve any actual G. The series utilizes a lot of tropes common to ARG, but none of the "clues" after 20 videos seemed to provide anything other than simple hidden messages or frustratingly difficult puzzles that again, were just hidden messages. They didn't provide any new content or insight that added much. The Discord community was filled with people banging their heads against walls trying to sort out the mess, to the point that conversations generally went along the lines of, "I doubt anyone has thought of this, but..." followed by, "Yeah, we've been thinking that for awhile," or the occasional, "We've already ruled that out because we asked in Twitter and they told us that wasn't the case." Your interpretation at the very least helps justify the work's existence and makes it quite an incredible piece of art if it pans out. The alternative is that it's just a fun art project that wanted to be an ARG but wasn't capable of handling its rapidly growing following solving its clues faster than they could create reasons for them to exist. I kind of hope it's the former, but I left because I highly suspected the latter.
No worries dude; it's sterile and depending on who you ask some say the taste isn't so bad either. Yes that was a Dodgeball reference and no I am not in the least bit ashamed. Said lack of shame has nothing to do with me going mad with cabin fever. I think...
As my mental state deteriorates, I at least get satisfaction from knowing there's something academic to be gleaned from all this.

This is exactly the type of feedback I'm looking for. Will take it into consideration. Thanks!

Speaking of deserving a bigger audience, you should definitely consider checking out ThomasIsMissing.

Has your analysis changed in light of the conclusion of the series? Have you uploaded any new videos on it?--if you have, I can't find them.

Seeing the insurrection at the beginning now after the election and then dropping charges is like a bad jolt
You need to watch this all the way through...and come back and do an analysis. It got really good and weird toward the end.
Epic
Completely unrelated but you have beautiful hair
I sure do love Topical™ current events references when I'm trying to escape into a UA-cam video about an ARG.
you probably should avoid my channel in general, lol
