2023. I remember watching this in Hawaii. And every time I forget and then tried to remember it...well...here we are. Thank you, Lark Rise, to Candleford... and especially Alfie for this song ❤
I grew up on this show, and this song always stuck with me. I sung it today for my audition for my school's honor choir that I have wanted to be in since I was a little girl, and I am so grateful for this gorgeous music. Your video helped me so much! Thank you!
We are currently rediscovering this excellent series each evening, and it occurred to me watching it again, just what a greatdrama series it was. So quaint, and full of very likeable characters, all set in a time when life was more simple.
Just finished watching Lark Rise again: it’s the perfect thing to binge-watch during quarantine! I’ve always loved “Alf’s” (John Dagleish) voice. Wish he would record a whole album of folk songs!
"Might be catchy but it in't happy. She tasted the salt upon her cheeks." ("That's the sea". - Twister) "Bitter tears more like. Sorrow and loss is what I'm hearin'." - Queenie forever
It wasn't played together because the first part was the original song that Alfie heard from the gypsy....the townspeople believed that this song had put a "spell" of sorts on them, so Alfie and Twister made the second part to change the songs effect...love this show!
I love this song! it is stuck in my head!!! It's about a secret love, the child doesn't want to stay in where she is now!! She want to travel and be free!! And making the choice to go away and not go at home!
I saw this for the first time on Irish Television this morning, and wondered if it was a traditional folk song, or had it been specially commissioned for the series? So I googled it and here I am...
Maybe poor results for a lot of time, but Maybe "Raggle Taggle Gypsy "(try a search) is the starting song. There might have been a real noblewoman who ran off with a gypsy. Some versions have the gypsy caught and hanged. Funny there are no credits for the show. I wonder if someone did a rewrite of the old folk song.
Thank you very much for uploading this! would you please kindly upload more songs from larkrise to candleford? I really like all the songs in this tv show.
@spla08 im 17 and i really enjoy this show. im also on my school's varsity football and basketball teams, so if he says only wimpy guys like it i guess you could throw that at him, lol.
I believe this song was written for the series Lark Rise to Candleford. It bears only the slightest resemblance to Raggle Taggle Gypsies - no real connection at all.

I love Lark Rise! Minnie, Alf, and Queenie are my favorites. They are my one weakness!

Apart from the obligatory crush on Alfie, he is honestly, the best character with the best storyline.

You know, for all my searching online, I cannot find a list of the folk songs Alfie and the Larkrisers sing. Anyone got any resources?

Omg once u have heard this song u cant stop whistle it, O.o
it's a time machine
The song sounds like one of the many variations of "The Raggle Taggle Gypsies".
I came back :)
LoL, the accordion guy looks like Silvester Stallone!
It's not an accordion it's a melodeon which is a very different instrument.By the look of it a mid 20th century Hohner pressed wood model
I wish the composer would release this soundtrack!
Is this song available on any forum like iTunes
It is a version of a famous folk song. Look up The Raggle Taggle Gypsy on wikipedia.
I've just watch a video with this music and isn't the same. =(
i need the name of this song!!!!
can you send me this song/audio track? Please...? :)
Several websites said it was... but aparently they were incorrect. >.< ... I wish the composer would release this soundtrack!
What show is this?
Larkrise to Candleford. I really loved this show, you should give it a look!
It was called "Larkrise to Candleford" and aired on Sunday evenings at 9.00pm between 2008 - 2011. It ran for4 Seasons as far as I can remember.
Really? ... How disappointing! My research must have been misleading. *Sorry!*
