The smell reminds me of how you smell after being around a campfire, how it clings to your clothes and hair. The smell dissipates quickly with this product. I like to mix it with other products when applying because it’s a bit tacky.
YES exactly lol! It's not a bad smell though but you're right, the smell does go away pretty quickly.
So I finally bought this and I realize the smell is a lot like dog treats! 😂 be careful if you have dogs. Otherwise the vitamin c firma is amazing. It made the back of my hands super smooth and hydrated

Should I wait like 15 minutes after applying the vitamins c, before applying my moisturizer? I heard somewhere that layering products sometimes doesn't allow the most benefits to the skin. Thanks in advance!
I wouldn’t wait that long. At least a few minutes before you apply your eye and face cream. Then wait 5-10 min before applying your sunscreen. 🤗

Why would the company make a Vitamin C product with an orange hue? So that consumers cannot tell when it starts to oxidizes. That is my problem with this product....... The company knows this very well.
I agree with you. I am not sure why they made it that colour either. If you check out my "Product Empties" video, I show what it looks like when it's gone bad vs a new one.

I have been using Drunk Elephant since 2018,and I've always have been given compliments of how glowy,and tight My skin looks.There was once this employee at Sephora who said My skin looks so good it kinda looks as though I get botox,and thats all from C-firma.One of My friends also once said to Me My skin on My face looks like its porcelain.I'm 33 Years old,but can pass for 24,so the vitamin C serum really preserves this youthful look of mine.I also have a question,how long can I stretch the C-Firma after opening it before it begins to oxidizes and isn't effective anymore?

Keep it in your fridge. It will help to prolong the product. This usually lasts 4 to 5 months once opened but you may get a little longer with it.. When the product turns dark orange and has a cloudiness to it then it's going bad.

It does smell like bacon lol!! It really is so effective..
The C-firma day serum is extremely rough on my skin. I don't have super sensitive skin -- I've used products like Retin-A , Benzaclin, Benzyl Peroxide, and my skin would get used to them quickly enough but whenever I've tried using this vitamin C serum I would have something akin to an allergic reaction. My skin would immediately get super dry and irritated from putting this on. I would get red spots from the irritation and it takes several days to get rid of the dryness caused by this. I've tried other brans like Paula's Choice with basically the same formulation, which is also rough but the Drunk Elephant one is the worst. I think it might be the ferulic acid that my skin can't handle. I use the 15% ascorbic acid serum from The Ordinary and that stuff is really gentle on my skin, just hydrates.
Weird. I’m sensitive towards essential oils but otherwise my skin does fine with the vitamin c firma.

If my vitamin C is cream based, do I use my serums first? Then the vitamin C them moisturizer and sunscreen.
This would be a VERY expensive serum to purchase. If it is only good for only 3 months that is 4x12=$320. I use the free sample of moisturizer from drunken elephant Sephora gives out as a birthday gift.
You can get longer than 3 months. As long as the serum isn't going cloudy or getting really dark in colour it is fine.. It just means that the ingredients won't be as potent. To each their own...
I Sam so late to the party lol!!! I received a deluxe sample of this with a recent Sephora order, and the initial smell was so off-putting (smelled like something burnt maybe?) that I almost threw it away and chalked it up to being “off”. Thank goodness I found your video, and I’m a new subscriber now ❤️🌈

Should you wash your face before using this? I was wondering the skin care steps you would do with this product?
If you are using this in your night routine yes, cleanse your skin prior but if you are using this in the morning you can just rinse your face with water, towel dry it and apply it to the skin. Eg: Cleanse, Serum, Moisturizer, SPF (if used in the morning)

Does the 3 month shelf life apply after you first use the bottle? How long has it been since it was manufactured and sitting in the shop?
Once it's been opened! I am not sure how long it is sitting for before purchasing it but once opened is when you have the 3-4 months to use it..

Yes you can but keep in mind that this pairing "could" cause skin flushing (redness)
Great informative vid! I got the mini of it that I started using, so hopefully i will like it. In a dream world these companies would sell their vitamin c products as a mini set or something. I had the Maelove Glow Serum 1 oz bottle and of course, after 3 months it started to change colors and I hadn't even used half of it yet:(.( I didn't know about the fridge trick when I bought Maelove and started using it . as it was my first Vitamin C active).

Definitely start putting it in the fridge. I have found my vitamin c has lasted a really long time and I haven’t seen any discolouration of cloudiness. I have used other vitamin c’s in the past and kept them in the fridge as well and have been really successful.
Can I take Cerave cleanser, cerave moisturizer , tretinoin and vitamin c at night as a night time routine
I wouldn’t use tretinoin with vitamin c you can check on google if you can put both on but I think tretinoin and retinol shouldn’t be used with vitamin c at the same time
It's not recommended to use Vitamin C and Tretinoin together as this pairing can be harsh and the two can render the effects. Keep your Vitamin C in the morning and Tretinoin at night.
Purchased the travel size 5 months ago, only now opening it! It is a dark orange but like you said this is normal... I hope it’s still good??
It should be fine if you haven’t opened it until now. Go check out my product “Empties” video. I show what a good and bad DE Vitamin C looks like. It will give you an idea.
Hi, I feel like the sticky layer the serum leaves doesn't really absorb into my skin so i'm hesitant to layer moisturizer and then makeup over. Should i let sit for a bit and wash off before applying those or just use less maybe?
Hi there,
It is pretty sticky but once you apply your moisturizer on top it isn't too as bad. I do 1-2 pumps for my face and 1 pump for my neck. Let your skincare sit for a while before applying your makeup. Don't wash off the vitamin c as there will be no benefit to your skin with that product. It needs to stay on your skin.

No not at all but of course it's a personal preference. I usually wait 30 seconds to a minute then go in with my remaining products..
There’s no way I can use this in the morning .... it’s soooo greasy !! Today I had to wait an HOUR after my sunscreen to put my makeup on ... I’ll use it at night
It can be a tacky serum and it's not for everyone.
I seriously can't handle the smell of this product. I have never had a vitamin C smell bad before, but this one. Whew! I googled it and apparently it's a thing with this C? I wish I had known before buying it! I am passing it along to a friend and going back to my tried and true brand. Does anyone know if the C-Tango eye serum smells the same way?
That is how it is supposed to smell. Skinceuticals has the absolute top of the line vitamin C and it smells like hotdog water. When there is no added fragrance, vitamin C serums will always smell weird like that.
@@sky4946 I think some are worse than others. I have used several brands in the past, currently using Timeless, which is 20% ascorbic acid, an even higher concentrate than DE and the smell is much more faint. Still hotdog water, but much less so than the DE. Maelove is not too bad either(15%). Not sure what makes the difference since all the ones I have used have ascorbic acid and no added fragrance.

@@sky4946 Both are great products. I used the Maelove for about a year then wanted to try the higher percentage that Timeless has. Timeless has a pump too, which makes it a bit more convenient.

It can be it depends on the percentages of the Vitamin C. It's not necessary to apply multiple types of vitamin c, one will be sufficient enough..
Can you mix vitamin c with retinol??
Keep them separate!

It would be Vitamin C, moisturizer and then Sunscreen. Serums always come before a moisturizer and a moisturizer always comes before a sunscreen as you want the top layer to be the “protective “layer”

In stores they keep it for a very long time they store the products ... i mean the product does not expire in stores if they keep it for long time?
The shelf life starts when the product is opened and has been used for the first time.

Can I apply it around my mouth and eyes?
You want to stay around the orbital bone but don’t go directly under that eyes or eyelids. When it comes to your mouth that is fine but don’t get too close to the corners of your mouth as you may experience cracking.
Can you mix this with your moisturizer and applied on your face ?
I wouldn’t recommend it as serums should be applied before a moisturizer but you can try it and see what happens. You may experience pilling.
This is actually how Drunk Elephant recommends you use it. Drunk Elephant products should be used as a "cocktail" - mixing everything together and then applying.

No I wouldn’t. Use them on alternating days.

It says it's good for all skin types except for sensitive skin. If you have extremely sensitive skin I don't think I would use it.

Yeah you can. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't.
it's yellow when it came in, how do i know if it's oxidized already?!
The orange hue will become darker and left even longer you may see a cloudiness in the serum as well.
