Hi josh! I just wanted to give you the trick i use to make circles, you gotta imagine the circle and divide it in 4ths, then draw each fourth at a time, taking into account that for each one of them; one of the ends of the line has to be in a 90° and the other in 0°.
And the other tip is to draw a 2d cross in the middle of the circle before getting into the 3d shape. One line vertical, anywhere in the circle, but the second line has to be perpendicular to the first one and in the middle. Then you proceed to make these lines in 3d.
    I hope it helps!

Also when making the circle don't put much strength in the pen and don't be afraid to use sketchy lines, you're on digital so it's on a separate layer, then you can just use another layer to clean the lines

Viewing and understanding objects in 3D space is so much more difficult and nuanced than most of us give credit! We take it for granted how things look because we see it all the time and just accept that - that's how things look... until we have to draw it. It's like your mind is becoming a 3D printer and trying to recreate something, and then your arm -> hand is the extruder trying to place it down, and now instead of following a strict algorithm to build the object you are figuring it out by trial and error haha.
I always knew I needed to spend more time working on my 3D objects as well, but drawing a sphere or a cube, is soo much more different than drawing a head with eyes and a nose and a mouth, it's a much more advanced concept yeno? I only now am starting to feel like I understand all this, and it's starting to show in my art too, but it's a very slow process. The more you practice - and practice with real life references to truly understand how things are supposed to look and not a stylized version, it'll slowly but surely click. This video is exactly the path for learning and understanding it, it's exactly what I did and am still doing!
What I'd recommend is turning simple (meaning don't try to make a fully rendered head) head drawings like this a part of your warmup! Practice drawing circles, then after you fill up a page or so, start turning those circles into spheres pointing in different directions. Then turn some into heads pointing in that direction, or turn some into eyes, or even different objects like softballs, tennis balls, tomatoes, buttons and so on. All of those things will help reinforce this concept and make it easier to understand, at least that's what really helped me!

Ayyyye thanks for the shoutout bro! And these heads look much better. A few things I noticed is that you should try to draw your ellipses and circles in 1 stroke. This helps with keeping them uniform. Of course it's not required to get a good result but it works well for me. Are you using reference? It always helps to use reference at least for when you are still trying to get the proportions down. Even if it's anime ref. It's better than nothing. Good job on these heads bro!

hey man!!!!u mentioned me in the video!!!!!hahaha..i was stocked!!!! lol...i did 3 comments because i comment as i am watching the video...i give u my thoughts as i am watching so i do not forget what i wanted to say...and dont feel bad about ur struggles..i graduated as an art history teacher in cuba at the university and of course...i learned to draw and paint there...but i struggle with the same things ur struggling right now..so..what i have seen so far in this video and i am 4 mins in..is that the 1st head u drew from the last video is tilted more downwards...thats why its not the same as the one u just drew from the 3d sphere u just put in there...thats why they are different

The reason the far side of the face is looking off is because you aren't placing the eye indent. Your brow ridge protrudes out from the face, slopes into the eye socket, and then comes forward again at the height of the cheek bone. An easy way to fix that is to place a ">" at the side of the eye and you'll see a world of difference when it comes to form.

Hey! Glad something I said made sense. One other tip I can give you is that the reason you’re head might still look a little weird is that you’re placing the dip of the head to high. What I mean is that when you see a face at 3/4, the dip of the head starts at the eye instead of the brow line. Since the eye has to sit inside the hole in the skull, the brow will dip in and come out at the chin. That may be why you’re face looks weird. I hope any of that made sense. Keep it up!

Thank you!! Likewise! I just started Dynamic Sketching at CGMA, which is already challenging me a lot with finding form. Hoping to share work from that soon!

hey, what i use when im not getting the curves that i want in the place , ill just draw a random curve in new layer and distort it or warp it to make it the way i want and merge it down .its definitely a long process bit it definitely works
