- Back in 2004 I had the chance to take a V-strom 1000 a 650 together with a Honda Varadero 1000 and a BMW 1200 GS with 3 other friends on a 2 day trip, I have fond memories of those 2 great riding days
nowadays watching the Urban Monk TV YT channel: / @urbanmonktv
I got me a hankering for one of those older first Gen DL1000's 🤪
when opportunity arose to pick one up that was really well maintained with 'baby' miles on it I pounced on it like a mountain lion...Oh well, like a soon to be freshly retired investment banker :-)
Thanks for watching

V stroms are just cool, the swiss army knife of bikes for sure ,😎😎
Yes indeed
I love it so much I think I might just get me the 650 as well
Read of a 1st gen VStrom 1000 in the UK that surpassed 400k miles on the original engine. Many 650's that have between 250-300k miles original engine. Love "V" Stroms, not P stroms. The new 800 has all the gizmos, but will never equal the longevity of the originals. Proud VStrom rider here. Excellent video.
Fantastic!
I trust Suzuki engineering
I’m thinking the new P’s will be just as reliable.
It’s in the company’s DNA 👏👏

V-Strom is an excellent choice for an adventure bike. Looks like you have yours kitted out pretty well, you even have a zombie slicer!
Thanks 🙏
It’s great how each previous owner added tasteful mods to it
I did the side panniers, tall windshield and USB charger with ram mount.
I've always liked the Vstrom. I just bought a 2019 with 9000 miles for $8000 at a dealership...so $10,000 otd, it still has some new bike smell! Lol it's a great do it all kinda bike.. and I like it a lot.
Yes,more love stories please 😊
Good video!
Thanks 🙏
Wow you gut a good one. Hard to find one in that condition in the UK.
Yes
In the US some people keep them in heated garages and only ride a bit during the summer months, I got lucky to find one of those.
Nice! As a vsrom owner who is interested in getting a goldwing, could you tell me how it compares especially comfort wise?
My older Goldwings were not as comfortable to ride as the Vstrom.
Mid controls on a low seat height requires exceptional suspension to compensate (not plush enough)
With tall suspension and tall seat height you get more leg room, a better quality ride on all roads plus the added benefit of light off road duties which are a breeze on a V Strom 🍻🍻
Wow I never thought the vstrom would be more comfortable.
When you say older goldwings, are we talking like 80s?
@@promie1 yes
I owned two 1200s and one 1,000 cc Gen 1
Back in the 80’s there were no Adventure bikes per se.
that's the second gen. I have the first gen with not adjustable windscreen.
you can get a mad stad bracket system and then mount any windscreen you want on it. thats what i did on my 2002
