Nothing like cutting a $35000 rim with a 100 dollar sawzall boys.
The more it costs, the easier to break
@@spazmeister1791 Facts
Wheel.
calling wheels rims is so 2004
It’s 35000 for the set. So $8750 for 1 rim n tire. And that’s also the price from Bugatti. You can find them used for way cheaper. Just like anything else that isn’t from a dealership.
And I guarantee you he didn’t pay anymore then 8k for that wheel and tire.
Waiting on that tank cleaning video
me too
Ed is always the best, and I love how he answers casually wearing his reptile
"I gave you Lamborgini wheels to avoid this exact situation"
LOL
You guys should’ve taken them to tire shops just so you can see them try tirelessly remove the tire 😂
Yeah I'm sure old glue will really slow down a tire man.
It's the pax system, takes a s ton of force to break the sidewall. Can only replace the tire twice before the wheels have to be replaced
Those wheels are expensive, yeah. But the fun pet is that Bugatti loses over a million with every Veyron they sell. The car is essentially nothing else than a gigantic marketing scheme for the VW Group 🤷♂️
VW if you're listening, just make one less Bugatti and send this man 500k for saving you half a million.
Overpriced Volkswagen.....just like audi
Luckily they don't sell any Veyrons anymore. They sell the Chiron, and the Chiron makes a profit.
I don't care what they told you. NO COMPANY develops a product to sell at a loss. They're making plenty of money.
@@kg4boj It used to actually be true with the Veyron, however it got Bugatti in a position to sell other cars for a profit so in the end it did make sense.
Here's the funny thing about nitrogen in tires...the atmosphere is already 70% nitrogen
yeah but now its pure nitrogen. nitrogen is very common in tires
@@Ckcdillpickle yes but my point is that car companies r scamming u on pure nitrogen and the abilities it brings because ur literally only getting 30% more "performance"
@@kcsniperboy7148 nitrogen is not for performance lol, its for pressure
Sounds like something a car company would say
@@spazmeister1791 nitrogen doesn't expand as much as air with temperature changes, which is why every plane has them and racing vehicles
Props to tire slashers lol nice
As a kid I used screwdriver on a digger wheel and it tore out of my hand and flew past my head.
On big tires the dangers are real haha
You just about lost an eyeball 👁️👁️
@@darinhilbern3444 Yeah, coulda poked an eye out with that.
I was thinking about just this at the end. Something like Pop, fwoop, my eye!, hisssssssss.
there are woven steel cords/belts underneath the treads. its basically a steel blanket inside the rubber. there is very little or no steel in the sidewalls of the tires, where you typically slash a tire. 5:43 you can see the steel layer under the tread and the polymer layer that runs from bead to bead and the steel reinforcement in the bead.
Most tires are like that. Some more then others but most have steel mesh and even mesh sidewalls
@@BigNCountry no the vast majority don't have steel mesh in the sidewalls for, and i can't stress this next word enough, MANY reasons. they are reinforced in the sidewalls with a nylon, or similar product. the side wall goes through extreme amounts of flexing while driving in a straight line. steel mesh would begin to fracture and poke through a sidewall. that's why the bead and tread are steel. the flexing on a properly inflated tire is minimal in the tread and none in the bead.
they're giant run flat tires
@@maniv100 has nothing to do with the design of the tire. the runflat is the plastic insert
@@bigjohn3435 run flat tires have a metallic frame inside them. The plastic part is only a Bugatti thing
The tires are run flat tires, The clear part in the middle is the run flat part
I thought that at first (i.e. HumVee style), but also, wheels do strange things at 200+ MPH. It may be as much to help the tire hold it's form.
We get the pawn stars skit without an offer being made!? That tire was worth at least 3 pieces of juicy fruit and a used paper clip!
I once had two tires slashed and my insurance deemed my car "totaled." They were right. Two tires cost more than my car would sell for at the time. Can't imagine driving around on 200x that reliable Town Car's value.
thats crazy
What car did you have ???
@@ng4847 1995 Lincoln Town Car. The interior and exterior looked like junk. But at 250k miles, the engine and trans were still cherry.
Why tf would you call your insurance over someone slashing your tires?
@@JamesBond-xx1lv I was 16 and my parents told me to? I dunno haha never thought about that until now.
That ed guy's a pretty smooth talker, he should start a youtube channel where he talks about cars & car stories or something.
Really
Bruh it’s called Car Trek. Look it up. Can’t tell if this is a joke or not
Thanks for this video guys this answers lots of my questions!!!!
You guys come up with the most interesting content! Always something new and intriguing.
how is this most interesting, new or even intriguing?
The lick test earned you guys the like
Nothing like exposing a scam about “tire glue” with a water jet and a sawzall
It was degraded
The whole call with Ed was awesome, really cool to learn more about tires and Bugatti
Should have took it to a Bugatti to see their reaction
Bugatti: Blasphemy!!! 😡
Do this
Ed’s Reaction kills me at 5:10 😂 keep rewatching it haha
2:12 that was honestly not what I expected at all and it was great.
I don't think I saw a valve stem on that rim.
Nevermind, they just hide it very well.
That handshake tho xD
awesome vid, i wanna see u spin up a flywheel, like something heavy but low rolling friction and u spin it up slowly, faster and faster and faster
MITCH!!!! I MISS YOU!!!
The support rings are pressed onto the rims, they need to be removed with the tire, the PAX system uses a vertically loaded bead instead of a side loaded bead in a conventional tire system, they used these on the Honda Odyssey, the Bugatti might have used glue to keep them together at speeds, but the Honda didn’t have any glue
Exactly what I was thinking!
Ed's look after seeing that cut wheel: How I imagine Vader would look, if during an Imperial march your clumsy ass bumped into him with an ice cream cone, smashed it on his robe then falls on his shoe.
The whole video I was like “how do you justify this purchase” and then I realized that’s Patrick Adair 😂😂
This was an amazing crossover. Apologies if its not the first between you three.
2:48 the armpit handshake killed me
And this is why you can't have NICE THINGS
Great video guys 👍🏼👍🏼🇦🇺🇦🇺🦘🦘Cheers from Melbourne Australia
One or two of those tires are more than that Ram 1500, not the set of 4. Crazy prices. Cheaper to have a cast made of the original rim.
Bugatti tires are like pax tires they have that runflat ring and the wheel isnt as special people think. But in order to change the tire you need a pax tire changing machine setup. But so freaking awesome
Not the pawn star reference 😭😭😭😂😂😂 LMAOOOO
The whole "tires are glued so they can't be replaced" thing is bs. Just after sales revenue generation from Bugatti. The car only makes 1000 hp, plenty of drag cars with 2x 3x more power on non-beadlock wheels with track prep sticking the tires to the surface.
It's not about the torque handling, its more about the radial forces at high speed rotation. Heck, even the rims come close to ripping themselves apart. Dragsters use solid disk rims and the tires deform massively at speed, almost doubling in diameter. No bueno for a road car. Making the wheel keep its shape is the insane challenge. You can still see just how much this tire deforms anyway from the wear on the centerline.
But I agree with the glue being BS. The tire/rim might very well be single use due to likely absurd preload on the bead. Perhaps 'glue' is just a simpler story to feed people than all the complexities of mechanical engineering on why you should never ever touch the wheels and how it could make them explode while driving.
Clearly the glue itself is there, but the idea that the fresh rubber can't be reglued is just silly bs that a marketing guy and an accountant thought up during a coke and blowbang session
@@saikanonojutsu exactly lol
@@MrZhilvinas drag tires like you are referencing do not have radial steel belts in them, only bias ply nylon cord. They are designed expand at speed. Radial steel belted DOT approved tires like a bugatti would have are designed to do the opposite and be as rigid as possible. 250 mph is nowhere close to providing enough force to rip a wheel apart, that would require many thousands of rotations per minute to achieve. If that's all it took, turbo prop engines and turbo fan engines would be impossible to operate. Not trying to argue or anything but bugatti is full of crap, and make claims like this to sell cars and $40k sets of tires to rich people.
@@midship_nc Assuming ~25" wheel diameter it comes out at ~3400RPM at 250MPH. Leading to centripetal acceleration (of the outer surface) of nearly 40000m/ss (~4000G). Rotational forces are no joke, as they scale quadratic!
Thanks for the video
I miss the original crew :(.
2:50 😂😂😂😂😂
Where the heck has Mitchel (sp?) been? I missed the random taste tests for certification, lol
Welp, Bugatti is off my list, I'll just keep my 14 year old Mazda working I guess.
My Mazda is 29, but I agree. I'm not impressed by the Bugatti quality.
@@heroesofthelandstrasse Had to retire that 2008 Mazda 3 due to rust, now I got a 20211 Mazda 3.

Oh good ring boy is back
8:41 Pinkman coming back stronk after all these years
They freakin shook armpits!!! Haaaaahahahaha. That killed me. 😂
What a handshake 🤣🤣🤣♥️
A 35 000$ Bugatti wheel is also called a scam.
Tell that to Loris Biccochi, veteran Bugatti test driver, who crashed a Veyron prototype with exploded ordinary tires at the time nearly 400 km/h.
Great reference 👌
2:13 Better than the original show 😆👌
This was awesome
Is the tire-to-wheel adhesive water soluble? It just came off. lol
oh my god you're mucking your tank freakin clean it.
I can appreciate this
I’m new to this channel very interesting
“edit that out” *keeps it in*
That would have to be some special glue, for the tires not to spin on the rim.
Geo-engineered Bugati bugars.
That pawn stars reference lmao
Did you recover the cost of the wheel from this video?
this is my comfort channel
Ed is awesome.
I dunno, I'd be pretty pissed if I spent that kind of money and they sent an old dried out tire like that lol.
The funny joke is you can only drive the Bugatti Veyron at top speed for only 30 minutes before the tank runs out, but the wheels would only last 10 minutes.
Tire slashers slash the side wall. Less tire ply. Generally 4 or more. Way easier to put a knife though.
Beautiful feedback automaticly subscribed. Keep it up no bugattis for my king ranch
Glad we could help
That dude just looks generally disappointed, like a father after their son drew over their credit card.
That facetime is super annoying with the guy who looks like he hasn't slept well in months...
Fun fact they also pumped premium Bugatti air in the tires
I come here for my H. John. Benjamin fix til Archer resumes. thanks Guys!!!
Fun fact, there’s a video on my channel of me driving a Porsche GT3 and running into him on the highway in one of his Lamborghini’s, ended up rolling into the car show with him. Awesome guy.
Idk who would buy a 35k dollar Bughatti veyron rim and cut it but these guys
Are insane
You slash the side wall of the tire so you don't have to cut through the steel belt. It's much easier
As for the nitrogen thing, it’s a scam. Air is already mostly nitrogen, and you don’t pull the tire to a vacuum to inflate so either way air will be on there. ~ a dealer tech
You don't need nitrogen gas in your tires unless you are racing.
You are incorrect. The standard is to get 94% nitrogen purity when you install the tire. At that rate there will be benefits.
Which the Veyron very much is for
@@michaelreynolds1422 lmao
When you get a new Bugatti tire replacement and it gets popped by a rock in the road
"Great step uncle"
You know it's worth a lot when you earn less than 1 Bugatti tire a year, in my case I would in equivalent earn 0.9 of those
that puts alot into perspective
It's just a tire... Cmon 35k for it. Ridiculous, it better be a fully diamond and ruby rim.
Slash the sidewall, it's a lot easier.
That tire lick earned my sub. 4 sure he's a professional
PAWN STARS! 🤣
Y’all’s friend has a really cool snake.
Yes!!!! Mitchell!!!!!!!
Meanwhile my 2003 Jetta wagon has a KBB value of $3500-5500
My wheels were $450 a piece and my tires were $270 a piece (falken Azenis RT660) 225/40/18
That wheel is worth more than my car
Bro that one wheel is worth more than my little ebay business
Widest production tire? Lol Mickey Thompson makes a 19.5” wide tire
A box with fedEx on it made me wonder if this is real.
I know that buggatti is not delivering wheels to a non client(i mean if you don't have a buggatti). And do they really deliver 35k$ wheel in a fedex box ?
FedEx will warranty an item that expensive. USPS will not
@@Tallnerdyguy in the video they explain the wheel is worthless because its too old to be reliable

That's nuts. P.S. VW sold Bugatti to Rimac, the Croatian electric hypercar company. I still don't understand why.
Look at who owns 45% of Rimac.
Hyper electric car shìt, that's sad, VW still holds a strike in the company, but yes why indeed. I'd give Bugatti 5 years tops before it's gone or sold off.

There’s only 5 people on the earth that are certified to mount those tires from what I was told. I met one them at a Hunter class

Funny!
Love some Ed
Nothing special about those tires, they are called PAX tires made by Michelin. They used those on the Honda Odyssey Touring in the 2007 model and they were a pain to replace but not horrible, honda realized they made a mistake and immediately discounted the wheel/tire set.
Thank you
Could sell cross sections of the wheel to Bugatti owners for 10K each

I believe that plastic ring in the center is a form of runflat setup
is there anything the waterjet _wont_ cut through?
