Listening to Steve explain the system was amazing. So detailed and engaging. Dude kept my attention on every word. Loved the clock and XLR explanation!
When you get into a system of that caliber the music is not just sound, but it's an emotional feeling. That can't be described.
Have you heard 1 because the Demo sounds like crap.
@@markclausson564 yeah, not sure why they would demo in a Tesla. They're known for their sound signature similar to a fish tank because the amount of glass they have. Not to mention terrible squeaky interior, no wonder they sound like doodoo in the demo
I remember way back when Steve brown won the nationals every year for sound quality with his first car. A 1988 red acura legend 4 door I believe. All alpine even then. UNBELIEVABLE CAR AND INSTALL. Everything looked completely factory and was hidden behind factory looking access panels and just perfect. That my friends is what's missing from today's car audio scene.
I love the retro 6 green buttons on the head unit paying homage to the old alpine cassette head units
I understand they have to sell this as a complete system, but I really love the look of the head unit. They should make one that looks like that
Old school F1 Status goodies in my 87 Cutlass .Did a few competitions back in the day .Still sounds Great and going strong.🙂

The only way that "system" truely makes sense is to include unlimited free access the audio files that allow it to perform to its potential.
Great video! This was one of the more inspirational setups I've seen in a while. I work on autonomous vehicles and can totally see these level systems in the cars.
It must sound incredible for Dean to have been rendered speechless. The fact that the experience was inexplicable, ironically said everything that needed to be said. Great content!

Great video and for explaining everything….. I always respected alpine, quality products that really focus on the SQ listening experience. They keep their products up to date with today’s technology music data….. I loved my type r’s back in 2015

It will be very exciting times when they are able to release systems that us mere mortals can afford. There currently doesn't appear to be any other manufacturers that are driving any significant competition in this portion of the market to help drive the costs down.
The transition to ultra high res media itself will also be another costly endeavor. Outside of any hi-res streaming services you may use, you will need to purchase and develop a new hi-res library in order to play this system to its rated potential...
Please tell me XLR will be the new signal transfer. That would be a game changer!!!
So $37000 for components, plus at least a $40000 custom install that includes taking and changing the interior to get the components to sound they way they are meant to sound (in a car). Only the rich will be able to enjoy its full potential, while us poor folk can only dream.
I remember back when I was able to have Alpines first set of the F1 Status SPXZ18 3 way components running with my two McIntosh amplifiers. Sounded amazing. But hell, I’d have to sell my soul to afford this.
You cloud spend way less and get a install that would be perfectly fine for most near mortals...Just get a portable dsd streamer and some nice zapco gear...and you could win most contests..
Should be 37k installed when i first heard about the system i called a shop thats authorized to install the system
Think of this as the Bugatti veyron. You may never see or hear this system.
@@Svg784p Meh you can hear these kind of systems all the time...The differences in sound quality at that high point are minute..When you go to sq meets you can hear similar systems and i bet that most people can not even tell when blindfolded what system they're hearing..And you can build a system that gets close to this same quality for fractions of the cost of this system..

I remember the Red Acura Legend back in the late 90's full of Alpine products.
Gio Arce: i remember that too! he came to our shop in santa clara ca. he was so young and excited to show anyone his car.
Loved the technical detail Steve and Chris explained in the video. I looked on Alpines social and cannot find any details on where the Tesla will be to go and listen. Do you have any info?

He missed the most important use in the military for an accurate system clock. GPS. Clock accuracy is what makes the difference between 6 meter and 1 meter accuracy.
Bonus factoid: GPS satellites need to run at a different clock speed, because they are effected less by the earth's gravity, and gravity effects time. Without this tweak, GPS satellites would be extremely inaccurate. (Thanks Einstein)

MAGIC SOUND alpine sound blast
When he started talking about data speed and file sizes, the pc nerd kicked in. Their data rate comes out to 3.125 MB/s, so modern storage is certainly ready for that. We have PCIE Gen 4 storage capable of transferring enough data, to play over 1,900 of his songs, simultaneously.
Now some of you folks with 3,000 plus uncompressed songs, are going to want to look into multi-drive SSD solutions to hold all of that data, to keep up with the future of uncompressed music. Imagine how long it'd take to transfer 10 TB of music, onto spinning rust storage. LOL
Thankfully, the cost of PCIE Gen 4 SSD's have been coming down due to competition in the market. NAS Devices will inevitably become far more main stream due to the dramatic increase to store such large data files.

This is really cool, but in a driving environment you'd never be able to tell the difference between the different bitrates unless some of the tracks were encoded below CD.
You might not be able to but there are people that can tell the difference
All depends on your actual music , your car itself, speakers, and especially your own hearing sensitivity.
If you're mostly listening to modern rap, pop, just compressed music in general? You'd be lucky to tell anything above 320k apart. But something more an actual band? That higher bit rate gets more noticeable
Yep in the end you're still in a crap environment for sound even a great sounding car is still going to be a mediocre sounding home system.
@@mpugne exactly...while moving you'd have a 60-70db noise floor... And parked you have odd shapes and a hodge podge of hard and soft surfaces.... Really cool tech but better suited for a treated room where critical listening can occur.

Those are designed for pro audio where long runs over 100 feet cause issues that RCA shielding doesn’t adequately control.

The old Alphasonic/US Acoustic 4x50... it has 0.005 THD.... ZED power.

Most studios record at 96/24. Very occasionally they record at 192/24. But, no studio is recording above that. The return is not worth the storage requirements. Also, none of the major interfaces support anything over 192/24. It's just pointless. But, it's cool that this hardware supports it. I guess that's what F1 Status is all about. The extremes.
They don't record at that level because it's pointless. No one can tell the difference. Anything above 96/24 and its a placebo effect. Just like these F1 systems. There cool but kind of pointless. The average person listening to it won't be able to tell the difference.
Yeah, this whole thing had me laughing. "This can play audio file sizes and types that you will never have and couldn't hear the difference between it and a CD even if you could find a way to get it." Rarefied air audio sales job. Usual this level of silliness is reserved for "magical" $10,000 audio cables.

All tech has to move forward and improve. On a good quality system you can definitely hear the difference in cd quality vs DVD quality audio. So I get it. Technology has to improve over time. My sound card in my computer can do 256k at 32 bit. Best audio I can find is 96k at 24bit. So where and how to obtain better is my issue. But you can hear the difference especially at louder levels.

All that matters is the frequency range it is recorded and the frequency response of your amplifier and the resonance your speakers can vibrate at with no reverb. Clock frequency is only important when processing sounds to synthesise them or create them, it's not needed in car audio except when separating frequencies. Who needs CD or mp3 wav when car stereo's have small amps that need booster amps, why not buy a audio laptop and a bluetooth amp and save cash. I have a amp the has greater bandwidth than yours and speakers that are 38khz, I don't need any headunit or anything between.

Yea, that's the point of the F1 series. They got the name because tech that gets advanced in F1 racecars, trickles down to the regular production cars. They want to push the limit of what's possible, regardless of cost, with no intention of it being profitable.

I think hi Res is going in a bad direction, the common belief is hi res is irrelevant if the human ear can’t tell the difference, tbh I think they should have just made a new drc and focus on their 16 ch dsp.

I lost faith in Alpine's ability to make something sound good after hearing their "SQ" Demo Tundra. It sounded horrible.
I would be really curious to hear an old school setup with the new stuff. For some reason, in the audio space, everything seemed to have regress to horrible audio quality.

Overpriced regardless they're just speakers and components DSPS and amplifiers mean sq stuff is OK but for what they're asking for it in the actual sound output the human ear can actually take in and reproduce save your money

As a PC gamer, listening to these guys talk about the date size, transfer speeds, etc. makes me laugh. The car audio industry is catching up with computer technology...but they have a long way to go.

I have all Alpine system 11 months later pulled everything out R series speakers sound horrible R series Amp Alpine R-A60F not good heats up very bad wouldn't recommend Alpine sorry

Alpine is outdated and overpriced with poor after sales support mainly with av units speakers subs and amps are good quality havn’t touched their head units in 10 years.
