    Thanks much for showing this! I recently found a stone that looked like a drumstick, but had obvious grooves from fingers and shaped smoothly. I live at the base of an old Indian burial mound.

    These were hammer stones used for fine hammering of other stone tools. They used them to peck away at celts and stones they were forming into tools or pestles. The flat part "neck" was used as the hammering face.

    Yes, William is showing tools the Indians used. I have found some very similar. arrowheads, spears, and hunting items may not be found near them. The area where these were found was a gathering of foods area. These items were used to smooth, dig into, peck, or grind foods like nuts, and berries. In these same areas you may find mortar and pestles. Indians ate more than just meat. You don't need a spear to kill a Walnut.

      Camp sites are were you would find mortars and pestles/ nutting stones ect. In camp sites you would find obvious signs of habitation, like flint flakes and other debitage. Learn your shit before commenting. This guy obviously knows nothing about artifacts.

    Great artifacts and video what is cool about stone tools is they never let the oil from the hands or the hide go its just so amazing these tools are hundreds of years old even thousands of years old. and the way the tool has finger grooves from the owner so it just falls into your hand and hey look closer there are some great effigies on your tools.keep in mind these peoples were incredible artists

      William Shira i found a stone exactly like these with actually markings and deep scratches, just cause someone doesnt know exactly what they are looking at or even familiar with it doesnt mean it isnt a native tool of some sort... id imagine natives used all kinds of stones and sticks in ways we arent taught or are familiar with... they even use bones for crying out loud... i find some very odd stones that have clear native markings or designs... deep scratches but can not be identified with common native findings but it doesnt take away from the possibilty that it may have had native significance.

    Your idea about "pecking stones " seems right to me. Similar designs made out of softer rock were probably used to crack nuts and acorns, or just pulverize roots. Much or their diet was pretty bland. Sort of like making ancient tortillas.

    Wow it's unbelievable how many people think these are worked pieces. For determination of a tool we use guidelines, signs of working, none of the stones show these characteristics. Also the so called notch is no indication for a tool. This is a pretty common thing on natural formed stones. Go to a museum and look at some real native american tools or other stone age tools. Even without any real knowledge the differences are very clear. Found many artifacts and seen lot's of native american hard stone stools on the web an none show any resemblance to the pieces in the video. Plz do some research before you start making a educating video like this one. I bet even accepted archaeologists say you're pieces are of natural origin.

    Amazing. How in the world could the natives fashion these stones without something harder than these stones?

    • @Kurokubi
      @Kurokubi 2 роки тому

      Who said it was the hardest? Even if it was, you can still break it with the same type of rock, and just because it's resistant to plastic deformation doesn't mean it's the _hardest._ whetstones are a good example here. Novaculite has a mohs hardness of 6.5, equivalent to Rockwell Rc 69 and silicon carbide stones have a mohs hardness of 9-10 while most knife blades are around 5.5 (Rc 59), yet you aren't going to go and use a whetstone to carve wood or as a hammer.
      Grinding is a good guess as to how they shaped it after using the same type of rock to rough it out. Also, rocks of any type have imperfections and different "purities" so one rock may be harder than one of the same type purely because of their compositional make up

      Im in Wa state and I have found dozens of these and hundreds of serpent heads.. cobras and cayman even. In the process of examining them ive noticed over and over the use of finger holds. Sometimes i find and identify them by the finger holds themselves. Then by finding the comfortable spot to hold the artifact, once i find its "handle" for lack of better word. I look at whats left and its usually a reptile head. Its almost like theyre little totems to be held up and shown to others...Ive only found one out of hundreds that fits in the left hand better than the right. This I know to be true ...Whoever they were and they had hands like ours, they were mostly right handed. And in my opinion they could manipulate stone with some form of technology unknown to us in the present.

    These stones are perfect for plaining "wood working" on the longest flat edge, and other materials. i have found 1 in the Huron river bed in Michigan next to some pottery scraps and broken arrowheads. the one shown at 5:20 is an oddball but you can still hold it in your hand with the largest flat end to the wood "thumb on top and press down". to be honest im not sure about the smaller ones. my guess is the kids were also working, or "if" found in a river bed just worn down.

    I attended a seminar to make acorn meal bread. The native American used tools such as the tools of this video to show how the acorns were cracked by adults and children. First the acorns were chosen from black oak trees and stored by squirrels who wete stalked by the bread makers who stole the stores and cracked and ground the black oak acorns. Once the meal was ground, it had to be rinsed in a basket in running water, then dry the meal in the sun, however the modern method IS to put the meal into a pillow case and run it through the washer snd dryer. The bread recipe of the past was not available, however the delicious bread presented was made from equal parts acorn meal and Bisquick.

      Local archaeologists have more than likely been trained to to exclude out of place artifacts (oopa) and automaticly shoot down anything that they cant explain or deem contradictory to Darwinism. Across the board its immediately discounted. They oppose anything that affirms our makers existence. Through the last 100yrs there has been a conserted effort to suppress the truth.. ie.. smithsonian and giants/ mound builders.. and north american occupati9n previous to the last ice age... egyptian relics found across the entire US. I personaly have a hand held cobra effigy found in Wa st. ....you just opened one of the many proverbial rabbit hole doors my friend. Enter at your own risk. Definitely intelligent looking design. I've toured Quarries that sold this kind-of rocks as garden stones. The ground is from the Cretaceous and the pit was 100ft. deep. I think the dinosaurs were hard-wired as they fed from the claw then discarded the last bite into briney estuary where it all sank into the muck and petrified. They were surgeons and sculptors. Brett Martin they are mammoth profiles. take one of your rocks look at it in the thumbs down position. there is always the ear eye and trunk. the broad part typically on the the left will be the ear then the ridge will curv down some ridge or trunk lengths vary but most of the time at the end of this ridge it will curl or coil back up . its hard for some to see it but once you do its undeniable. i hope to get a response for a friendly agreement or disagreement on my interpretation. and possibly showing you examples of my finds. it blows my mind how numerous and wide spread this one type of artifact is.

    I found one of such shaped stones in Greece notched to a perfect 90 degrees inner shape and i can put it on the edge of a table.
    Looks like a a semierect penis actually-If i hold it like a pistol and put my "triggerfinger" alongside the "barrel" it ends exactly at my fingertip.
    The outside of the stone is a bit rounded and there is a mark at the thick part as if used like a hammer.
    I really would like to date it and have an idea what is the purpose of this thing.

      William Shira im telling you they are profiles of mammoth heads. havent you noticed there is always even if its tiny a mark for the eye and how on some the ridge goin from the broad part down will curl back up on its self like the trunk of an elephant or mamoth. i know i sound crazy as all hell especially to people who dont rock hunt ALOT but ive found hundreds all over the state of iowa some so identical as far as the geometry to them its impossible to be an accident. theres alway the ear the eye and the trunk.

    This is the guideline I personally use. Given rocks are everywhere and artifacts are presumed to be uncommon or rare the assumption at first must be that it is not an artifact unless the combined evidence indicates otherwise. An example of combined evidence: Where it was found, what signs and how many are there of human work done on the stone, does it also double as one or more clear to see effigy (usually bird or reptile), hand placement: the real ones fit perfectly. The reason the older stuff is still around is because it's not so obvious or easily identified.

    • @paleoman8854
      @paleoman8854 4 роки тому

      @@TylerRayMattersRUAC Sure, but it still looks like what it originally was. If it is fast moving water making contact with lots of other stones it soon is broken into pieces. If it is in slow moving water edges become rounded but likely still remains intact. I have found in the cobble beds on the beaches of California cleavers made for butchering whales or seals that are made of felsite. They still look like a cleaver or hand axe but are rounded on all edges. Its anybodys guess as to how old they are but for all the pounding they have taken in the surf they still resemble what they were made to be. If you know how to knap you will grasp this idea rather quickly.

    Muy rodadas por haberse matenido durante muchisimos años dentro de corrientes de agua con arrastre de arenas que las erosiona

      Would tool marks exist if artifacts were under water for several (hundreds/thousands) of years? Just curious pertaining to some items I found after some heavy flooding sitting on top of dirt (flooding washed away a lot of topsoil) in an area with a lot of ancient limestone. This place is a man made lake now with rocks for miles, but only in 2 spots are there thousands that look like pre bc arrowheads, drills, scrapers, hand knives, hand axes. Edges are razor sharp still, but tool marks are either an illusion or they are extremely eroded. Pre-clovis shapes on the arrowheads and arrowhead making scraps, thousands of them, near large stones and there are few large stones in this area as a whole so to see 7 or 8, 1square foot 9 inch tall stones in 1 small area is rare in itself. The main question though if they were submerged would there be tool marks I have zero actual knowledge about archeology just a history buff that thinks he found some cool stuff.

There is a process to reverse the oxidation, and they become smooth as silk, with wonderful colors, pictures and designs. They are fashioned. If you don't believe it, go find one, and polish it.
