- Alright, we're ready to sing. Wait, how do I do that again? We look at matching up the words to the notes for Psalm 1 and Psalm Tone 2.
The Anglican Church of North America (ACNA) Psalter which I'm using is available for free download here: bcp2019.anglic...
If you find this to be a blessing, consider a donation to the ACNA here: anglicanchurch...
or at your local ACNA church.
Man, this playlist has been so helpful! Please keep them coming!
Very informative and well taught! God bless ❤
Thank you and God Bless
Extremely helpful, thank you! As a lay Dominican in the RC church I pray Lauds and Vespers but have been wanting to switch from saying the psalms to chanting them.
Wonderful! I'm glad you find these helpful.
Stephen, thank you so much for taking the time to create these wonderful lessons on chanting the Psalms, very much app-reee-she-ated. I am hopeful that you are well and that you have more to teach. All Glory to God. God bless you.
Thank you for the video and your patience to explain. God bless 😊🙏🙏
It's my pleasure!
Thank you
"Good!"
Man, thanks Stephen. :)
It really was.
Share some more bro
I hope you slept well my dear
Any chance you could share the other tones? Just examples would be great -- this alone was a great intro to the concepts.
Hi, Mark. They are in the works - real life has intruded as of late. Thanks for the request.
I feel like this playlist is missing a video with information about the psalm tones? I feel like there is a piece missing that I'm not getting, even though I watched the other videos.
Hi, Tammy. Well, the playlist is still "in progress", although I haven't had a chance to do much on it in a while (real life and all that). What information would you like to see?
Hey! Thank you for subscribing to me! How do you make shorts?
You are very pedagogical, do you plan to continue explaining the other basic tones?
Hi, Alvaro. Thank you, and yes, I do, but it's a slow process. More should be coming in the next few months, though.
This is very helpful. Can you recommend a psalter for a beginner which contains the music ? At Dunstan's looks good but is very expensive here in the UK
Hi, Dominic, I'm sorry it took so long to reply. If you can find a copy of "A Manual of Plainsong" by Briggs and Frere, that's an excellent one. They're somewhat hard to find, but if you see one snag it. It uses the Coverdale Psalter, which is lovely but the language is a bit old-fashioned (this doesn't bother me, but just letting you know). There is a Psalter called the "Bernard Psalter" which came out here in the states a year or so ago; it is not expensive, but the current version has lots of problems with the pointing, so I wouldn't recommend it just yet. The good news is it's currently undergoing a major revision, and hopefully it will be up to snuff sometime in 2023.
That's great thanks
If you use Google to search for "Common Worship Psalter plainsong" the first result is a very practical solution (as long as you're happy with the CW texts). You'd have to print the pages you need or save to an iPad.
These videos are quite useful, but by golly you use a lot of words to make your point.
@@James_Bowie I’m very glad if they’re helpful! As for the other…. It’s true; I do tend towards loquacity. Talkers gonna talk, I guess 🤷♂️
