My brother works for Safelite, and is replacing wipers constantly, so I have him saving the old ones for me. The wide ones are great for making c clip removers! But I am constantly finding uses for them. Thanks for showing me another!
Hi I Jason. Thanks for doing this video. What a surprise,Marks springs. They don't seem to be made very well. You have mentioned it before I'm sure . Thanks again for the video showing how versatile a windscreen wiper blade I sent really is.
For the price of those marks lock cases, ($70 msrp from allaboutdoors) vs labor rate etc, to try to rework it, it probably wasn’t in their thought process to sell the spring by itself. I would’ve done the same thing as you. Allaboutdoors is down the street from me so it’s no big deal to just go pick one up either but spring steel assortments are like gold when you need them. Another great video, thanks for sharing!
@@citylockapolytechnikeyllcc7936 what’s the part # for tha kit? Allaboutdoors usually sells the whole thing and some minor stuff but I’ve not seen an actual kit. Thanks!
Excellent video -- repairs of mortise bodies are really intriguing. Whether it's this new Marks or a Corbin from 1905, it's funny how the repairs are sometimes just a piece of spring steel.
Excellent video Jason, always educational to watch and never know when I’ll be searching for a video in a moment of great need and will find that you made one covering the EXACT topic. Thank you for doing this. And Lockforce, looks like we can mark Sunbelt Rentals 😁 (7:26 :)
Great video and thinking!!! Have a Marks 91-A Door Lock - Rocker Switch Bottom IN - both knobs are locked. Top IN - both knobs turn. Is this defective?
I Don't Ever See That Wiper Spring Breaking. It's Made of Stainless Steel. I Use It For Tention Wrenches And Many Other Things All The Time. Awesome Repair. A Great Locksmith Can Fix Things That Most Replace.
Just for everyone's interest. Those windshield wiper blade supports come in 3 sizes. It looked like you used the middle width. I have used this metal in many projects never to have one break. As you pointed out it is not very brittle, but, how brittle was the factory part? I enjoy your videos, thank you.
I have a double pocket door lock. I managed to repair and refurbish one side but I can't find an image to go off of on the other side. In my infinite wisdom, I managed to not take a reference photo. Do you have a double pocket door refurbish video?
IMPORTANT SAFETY ALERT: Do not replace the inside cylinder with a thumbturn cylinder. If you want a thumbturn, get the lever trim set, that has the 1/4" hub tailpiece for t turn. Otherwise, a lockout lockin may occur.
I will send you a supply of the two different flat springs that may be needed for repairs. Just send me a flat-rate shipping label, small flat-rate box. List any other MARKS mortise body parts you may need. I have the big kit they used to sell.
The videos showing you troubleshooting and repair are the best! Often it's the little things that fail the most often. Thanks for another clear video.
Nice Job Getting That Lock To Live Again. I've Been Using Windshield Wiper Blade Spring Steal To Make Tention Wrenches For Years And Many Other Uses
That is clever, using a part of a windshield wiper blade to fix a mortise lockset by making a spring from it. Great work.

Ohhhhh Phred how do you make a c clip remover?

The spring for this is one of the 30 or so parts in the MARKS Mortise Body service kit I have had for some time now.

Thank you!!

Does that qualify as a LockSport "modification"?

I started calling them bar doors too lol
I mean they are made of bars ;) 🤷♂️
Try to always keep some flat steel in the toolbox. Ya just never know when it will save you on the job.
