    Just one thing. I agree the film works. We hit a full grown road gator (truck recap) at highway speed. When I was finally able to get off the road the only thing that happened was some quite large black goop on the XPel. There was no damage to the bumper, or the film, and black marks were easily removed. I can't imaging the damage to the bumper had the XPel not been there.

    Hello, i hope you doing good, thank you for all the tips, i am a car painter and need your opinion about this case, a hood was painted and ppf applied after 12hours of painting, the company that applied the ppf did need to peel and edge after applying the ppf, the paint did peel from that edge, from your point of view do you think applying the ppf on a 12 hours paint is not recommended and you think it is still fresh or it is okay, what is a percentage of paint peeling of a painted part after applying ppf, thank you.

    Due to easy removal vinyl wrap is generally reserved for front fiberglass bumpers. Vinyl is easy peasy to take off without doing damage (via blades, heat gun, 3m Erasers) to the paint, or fiberglass. What’s on the hood (9 out of 10 times) is thin 3M, or off branded, plastic ppf. Yes, taking vinyl of an ISF, IS350 F, and M3 bumper was simple. Having to take (what most vehicles have) thin PPF off a steel hood is a whole didn’t experience. To so so requires hours of time, elbow grease, heat guns, 3M Erasers, lots of plastic blades, $30 bottles of Rapid Remover leaving scattered tiny pieces of sticky plastic wrap all over the ground, & on the bottom of your shoes. Unless it’s a certain color, or a fake looking CF wrap nobody puts clear vinyl around hoods, rocker, or quarter panels. It’s 3M plastic.

    Hi! Thanks for this video. Currently considering PPF for my new vehicle and was wondering if there should be a concern about uneven paint wear. I'm doing a full front and rocker panel setup but most ofo the doors/back will be uncovered. Would appreciate any info!

    • @BlackoutTinting
      @BlackoutTinting  Рік тому +1

      Overtime, the areas that aren't covered will probably end up with swirl marks, darker paint will make it more obvious, but since you're doing the full hood it won't be as obvious. The angle most hoods are at can emphasize it. You will be protected from most of the rock chips though because your rocker panels will be covered. Hopefully they are doing a small spot behind the rear wheel that rock chips like to end up.

      @@BlackoutTintingI'm painting my project car soon and thinking about a ppf to protect the paint due to harsh weather and long distance drives, after about 5-10 years would it then take the paint off or would you remove the ppf every 2-3 years so it's easier to take off? 🤔 thanks much appreciated

    • @BlackoutTinting
      @BlackoutTinting  4 дні тому

      If the car is garage kept I would expect 7 to 10 years before removal. If its a repaint, make sure the paint is baked and fully cured, and make sure the prep work is perfect or it will pull paint later.

    Has anyone had a problem with black mold under partial PPF installations? I have a. white 2012 Toyota that had factory applied PPF, which now had black mold under the film, all over and evenly distributed, meaning it didn't start at the edges and work towards the middle, it had to have diffused through the PPF(!) Has anyone experienced this?

    • @MyGuyKirby
      @MyGuyKirby Рік тому

      Common problem on all PPF on all vehicles and RVs, that is not black mold but it is common mildew, just ugly. Working on a 2014 Tundra now and saw the same on a 2012 Avalon. It likely will not remove like shown in this video, it has too much age and is not flexible.

    • @MyGuyKirby
      @MyGuyKirby 11 місяців тому

      @@tjb8383 Sorry to hear it is no longer clear which indicates that it will be a pain to remove in pieces rather than the steam and pull off method. The wheel method used for removing stripe decals is what my body shop recommends and uses. Get a few quotes from your local body shop first and then try DIY. At least the body shop can touch up the clear or any paint that pulls off, none I hope.

    Hello Brother 🙏🏼….I have heard that fresh factory paint needs to breathe for at least 3-4 months (evaporating some gases/chemicals from freshly applied paint)…..Naturally, the question arises that is it recommendable to install PPF on a Brand new car on a very next day just after getting delivery?
    Or it is just a myth that something with paint could go wrong on a freshly painted new car!!…..and one should wait for 3-4 months before installing PPF!!!…?
