@@danieleventhal3848 One thing fan(artic)s, as opposed to supporters, tend to forget is our back up is not shit. Anyone playing minutes for Arsenal at this point, youth players aside, are top 1% in the world. These are elite players, not rejects from Junkeren in Norway's third division ... with all due respect to their players. We keep forgetting that players that would genuinely improve our squad are hard to come by. Unless you have an unfair advantage in your league from which you financially benefit (Bayern, Real/Barca) or you play fast and loose with rules (...you know who), signing that No.9 who'll make the difference is hard. We've had the summer we've had because we didn't compromise for lesser quality at ridiculous prices. Better to keep the funds, and wait for the right signing. Who needs an okay striker on £250k for the next four years? I'd rather wait for the type of deal City had with Haaland (wishful thinking!) than start tying up crap assets as Arteta had to undo when he took over. Edit: I see future super deals following Mbappe's situation. Tapped up years before to save on the £250M+ transfer fees. We need to maintain our position for a few years to tempt such worldies to see out their contracts to join us.
Nonsense from you both. “Ease him in”, “give him easier games”. Why’d you think so many youth prospects leaving?! Because they don’t see a way into the team. He’s a big lad, Arteta rates him, he knows the drills and plays. It’s now or never. Play him.
Hi Charles! Who do you think will captain us in the NLD with Odegaard out? Saka took the armband against Brighton so I’m guessing it’ll be him. Imagine Saka captaining us to back to back wins vs Spuds and Man City how amazing will that be!
My 11 for this game against Tottenham would be Raya, Gabriel,Saliba,White Timber . Midfield is Nwaneri for Rice, Trossard for Odegaard alongside Partey. Havertown plays his same position where he is most effective, Saka on the right and Sterling on the left. Jorghino comes on if we are losing control of the midfield, Jesus comes on if our attack is fading and we need that extra fire power to raise our tempo , Martinelli comes on if Sterling or Saka cannot finish the 90 minutes. Let's go Arsenal ❤
I'm really excited to see the lineup for the NLD. I try to stay away from the negativity surrounding arsenal right now, hence why I'm here. The current injuries gives opportunities to other players to shine. COYG!!! WE GOT THIS.
Lamine Yamal was 16 for his first Clasico, 1 month after first start for Barca, and he went on to smash almost every record for youngest everything for both club and country. Take a chance
My heart fell off on the news of odegaard injury And now with the bit of news I am hearing I don't know the ins or outs of the possibilities of singing an all out free player ???but can it be possible????
I must say 😂I enjoy watching the show because I’m an Arsenal fan and I enjoy your content but I enjoy it a little bit extra just because James is a marvel fan and a gamer. Makes it a tad bit more worthwhile.
Why's no one talking about playing saka as the 10?? He's got the most assist of any arsenal player in the last 2 seasons (I think) and play martinelli on the right. I do feel martinelli on the right would help him because he always has his head down and tries to play a cross with his weaker foot. Why not with his stronger foot?? Saka and martinelli looks like a good mix really.
Barcelona are playing there 17 year olds not just one of them 2-3 at times so I think Arsenal should play Ethan the way Fabregas played. This is where stars are born 🌟
Team has been lucky with injuries. If this season ends up being a wash, I choose to think it’ll be one step back for two steps forward. Get to see what Nwaneri can do as well as different permutations. With the money made over the summer window can Edu make some big signings both this winter window and next summer window to bolster squad in every aspect? Come back next year (and successive seasons) with an even stronger/deeper team to make sustained runs. Though it’s disappointing this year, that’s my positive spin
Charles, I don't comment on your show this time around. I am going to add my view to the others. The notion that there should be an ideal time to get Nwaneri involved in the game is nonsense: Odegaard is injured. Let Nwaneri play. He's good enough to play. It is undoubtedly a perfect moment for him to play and shine. He is good enough. Yamal has shown that youngsters can make a difference. If Arteta trusts the youngsters, this is his time to show us that he genuinely cares about developing the young players. Arteta should not only talk the talk but also walk the walk. Give Nwaneri a chance!
Hi Charles I don't think arteta will change anything he will use the same replacements (partey + joginho) nothing will change until the the summer transfer. Hopefully he will give people that much needed chance
Happy Birthday to Steve. I don't know how hold you are Charles but it made me laugh thinking of a ~40 year old man lying on their bed, staring at the ceiling, worrying about Arsenal. Thanks for all your hard work, love the show!
I wholly believe in Nwaneri to start against Spurs. He could really make a difference, and I think it's super important that he gets some time against them at the very least. The players also trust him and begged Arteta to bring him on at 15. What other endorsement do you need?
I feel this is just being overly protective of Nwaneri. The lad doesn't look like the kind of player who'll be phased by the NLD. He may not have a magnificent game, but I don't foresee it breaking him. Give the lad a chance. If both Partey and Jorginho play alongside him, he'll have enough protection. This notion that Partey and Jorginho "don't have legs" is just a myth.
I think they'll play jorginho, Thomas and Zinny. Would live to see Nwaneri get the minutes but not start it could really rock his confidence if he had a bad game. I trust Mikel I think he'll pull something out of the bag.
Whilst I completely agree with your comments on Nwaneri…. Could there be a more perfect fairytale game for him to come in and inspire a win? The sort of thing club legends are made of! Secondly, I think you and James would be a make a great detective show spin-off drama. “Watts and Benge - Private Detectives”… Charles as the enigmatic genius lead detective, and James as the wise cracking, loveable sidekick. Thinking somewhere between Sherlock and Jack Reacher, but solving mysteries that all have an Arsenal link shoe-horned into the plot perhaps - looking forward to it already!
I bet for every Yamal and Jack who take it in their strike from a crazy young age you could probably name a promising young player who cracked being thrown in too early. Yamal and Jack are exceptional. It's like pointing at the oldest person in the world and saying 'everybody should live that long'
When we met Liverpool there was talk about how Liverpool had injuries on key players but so did Arsenal. Looking at the players injured for both teams Arsenal actually had the worst injury problems of the two teams but Arsenal was coping better and that's why the narrative was spun like that. We spent the entire last season without 3 nail down starters for most games and had serveral rotation players on the sideline, Arsenal where just better. If Arsenal do well against Sp*rs and Man C the narrative will change again.
I suggest we play either Timber/party or Timber/Jorginho as double pivots and play kiwior as a left back Zinny to replace Martin. The counter attack pace of spurs will give us problems with Partey and Jorginho Timber is very versatile can play as a DM and hope if things go bad at least a draw to build on a positive momentum.
Nwaneri definetely should get minutes. I wouldn't start him in the NLD. That's a bit unfair. I want Arteta play him in when we are 2 goals up the first couple of times. Also in the league cup.
Ethan is ready. I'd wager he went to Mikel on his own and expressed he's ready and willing if the team needs him. Mike knows best of all of us. I have a feeling he's starting in a historic game in the NLD and coming good with MOTM
I think the problem we all have is that we think the team would play the same patterns with the absence of Odegaard. We also forget Arsenal had a different style of play in Arteta's first season and with a weaker team.
2 things about the Nwaneri topic: first, please let’s stop calling him a kid. He is 17 and plays football on a level that we can’t even comprehend. It’s not helping him when people call him a kid. He is a young adult. Remember when we were 17? Did it give you confidence when someone called you a kid back then? Or did it the opposite? second, it’s the perfect opportunity for him to start. Because if he f** up, no one is going to blame him. It’s a risk free bet for him, only with the upside that he surprises everyone. And he is in the team because he can play football. Very well even. Take some risk. Also, Nwaneri for sure wants to start. He is a competitor. That’s what every player wants. If he doesn’t get the chance now, he might even think: what am I doing here at Arsenal if I can’t even start when everyone is injured. In the end Arteta will decide what he thinks is best anyway. I hope he is brave. Thanks for coming to my TED talk. Cheers
Nwaneri wont come in for Odegaard, Arteta will play experience and is right to. Jorginho will come in and play alongside Partey, Partey will be given licence to move forward but the 3rd player in the midfield will be Havertz who'll be the creative link player. Its absolute madness to play/rely on a 17 year old kid in the NLD, the opening CL game and away at City, madness.
Really not as bleak as you two paint it. Up front Stirling Havertz and Saka Midfield Zinny Party (sub 75 Jorgi) Nwaneri, Left back Tierney all else as normal. The pont of tierney is that he has a great cross and Havertz is banging them in for fun, White can invert nicely, there is enough experience to keep Ethan's head up. He will be fine. If Udogie is fit, Saka and Stirling to switch it up often, he struggles with switched attackers. The key to winning is Zinny as left 8 and his cute passes into the space in front of tierney. If anyone is flagging we have people who are good enough to make strong impact off the bench. Bizarrely I say attack from the left.
Odergaard will not be missed away from home against city as we will be defending. He will be more missed in the Bournemouth, southampton and Leicester games when we need to break teams down. Our away games against spurs and city are dependant on defending well and breaking fast with balls from partey and Jorginho to saka/martinelli/Sterling
“Be careful to lay out his development plan” 😂 if your good enough, you’ll make it through like Saka, Mainoo, Oscar Bobb, Rico Lewis. Simple. Arteta has to play him, he’s only other options are to play Jorginho in a forward 8 (Rice position) and bring Havertz back to an 8, that stinks. Or play defenders and attackers in the midfield which is even more drastic
If we are doing a mix and match midfield, call me crazy, but could we put Saka in the Odegaard slot? We have more forwards than midfielders at the moment. Maybe we could have Saka in a central role with Raheem and martinelli/trossard running off him…go ahead call me crazy 😂
There is no risk whatsoever Yamal started playing at 16. When you are good, you're good no two ways about it. I blame Arteta because he should have had some minutes by now. He is not suppose to wait for a crisis to start playing him
Nwaneri should be included, he has the pace and agility. One game will not break him if he has a tough outing. If it does he shouldn't be with the first team, mentality. Can't start the young guy there, can't put the veteran (Sterling) there. Good grief
Havertz is gonna play the right 8 role He presses well, he links with Saka well, and he can break beyond striker also So Trossard or Jesus will be striker
What is this absolute waffle that people keep spouting about it "hindering his development". No, it isnt, its an absolute free hit for him. If he does well in either of the next 2 PL games its an instant confidence boost and he becomes a fan favourite overnight. If he does badly but at least tries everyone writes it off as a teenage academy playerthrown in a bit out of his depth because our literal entire first choice midfield is injured and he gets valuable big game experience.
Play Ethan… even if he played badly, and I pray he don’t… mistakes are part of the learning process. As long the faith is still there afterwards…. Jorgi will coach him during the games.
A lot of people keeps forgetting to mention Salah Eddine. He had a great pre season. He can cover CM which we are really short at the moment. Last season he experienced senior football full season at Netherlands as well. He might not have the highest potential compared to Ethan but he does have the experience. There should be a reason why Arteta keeps involving him in 1st team and even on the bench against Brighton. At least he will be on the bench against Spurs.
You take Rice Merino and Odegaard out of our midfield and we can play Jorginho Partey and Havertz, which is great Take KDB, Rodri and Gundaguan out of City and it becomes Kovacic, Silva and Rico? I dont think we lack depth in midfield, we have too many out. Take the big 3 out of city and they look far weaker in comparison too. Take Sz, Gravenberch and Macallistair out of Liverpool and who they got? Take Sarr Maddison and Bisouma out of Spurs and they look very different. I dont buy the idea of we have a lack of depth, we've got plenty. We literally have 2/3 of our squads capable of playing midfield
I think it’s time we play him…if you don’t trust him, why promote him there..mainoo, yamal, were trusted by their managers, it’s a derby and best time to play him…
Get Nwaneri in its now or never for him that's the chance he gets yeah. I trust our defense to do the job and we might just secrifice ball possession for this game and play on a counter attack.
whats the fear about...whether ethan has a bad game or not,,,one thing is definitely going to show..how really good he is or not and i think he is a a very good player irrespective who he plays with yes a lot would depend on the tactics....the major decision is who plays between jorginho and a makeshift payer who got legs....P.S...Ethan is nigerian in blood just like saka and what they have in common amongst many skill set is GUTS
If you get rid of all of the options that could play in Odegaard's position(ESR, Viera) surely you're saying that the backup to Odegaard is Nwaneri. Either that or the people in charge have been extremely dumb and short-sighted
To me it doesn't matter if nwaneri start all I want is for him to start a pl and cl game when everyone is available to know if arteta trust unproven youngster
Ethan would not be debuting, he has already debuted - youngest player ever. If Jorginho/Partey is at the base and Kai is at the left 8 he has experience around him. Tons of experience. Not to mention the rest of the 11 all experienced. I think he would be fine. That said, I would still start Jorginho in the right 8 and Kai in the left with Partey at the base. Lots of experience. Not ideal as we would prefer Rice and Ode playing, but we will be fine. I would also PLAN to sub in Ethan in the second half, to give him needed minutes given the squad situation. This is why we have a squad, let's see what the boys do.
@@kunimitsune177 you aren't wrong. Fairplay. I for one am in the excited camp to see what we do though. We would obviously have the players fit and not suspended, yet these are moments that create champions, let's get behind the boys and see what we can do!

I disagree with James. If not now then when? I remember Saka playing left back in the even more worse team
Looks like Nwaneri is gonna get a lot of gametime in the coming weeks.
Hi Charles, are there more Calafiori updates? Haven’t heard anything since they decided to send him back to London. Hopefully that’s not a bad sign 😅
Any idea on why Trossard/Jorginho weren’t picked for Belgium and Italy? Jorginho understandable but Trossard?
Hey Charles, looking at the current injuries situation at Arsenal, would u take two draws against spurs and city ??
I'm really excited to see the lineup for the NLD. I try to stay away from the negativity surrounding arsenal right now, hence why I'm here. The current injuries gives opportunities to other players to shine. COYG!!! WE GOT THIS.
You have to start Nwaneri at some point once he's ready, Cesc Fabregas is a perfect example , Cesc became one of Arsenal's best players.
Marvel lmao
This notion that Partey and Jorginho "don't have legs" is just a myth.
partey is fit to start and be impactive having completed 2 no 90 mins matches during this international break
Thanks Charles and James.
Let him unleash Nwaneri got talent why not .
James really Jorghino sole in midfield against Spurs???!
Not a bad squad without Rice and Martin, confident we can get points.
Why do we discount Zinchenko at Left 8? He's more dynamic than Jorgi and can act in a pivot.
I bet for every Yamal and Jack who take it in their strike from a crazy young age you could probably name a promising young player who cracked being thrown in too early.
Yamal and Jack are exceptional. It's like pointing at the oldest person in the world and saying 'everybody should live that long'
I think Jesus should start in place of Ødegaard. Or Havertz and Jesus up top.
Chico and benghino
Legends
We love your content bro but those wires had to go! 😂
Q 3 center Half's, timber and zin either side, party, hav central, saka, Tros, gabbie front three. As a thought
James midfield is giving me nightmares.
We’d get boshed about White Hart Lane with Zinnie and Jorginho as a pivot. Zero pace or power between them
I suggest we play either Timber/party or Timber/Jorginho as double pivots and play kiwior as a left back Zinny to replace Martin.
Love your optimism and so hope you're right.
I think the problem we all have is that we think the team would play the same patterns with the absence of Odegaard. We also forget Arsenal had a different style of play in Arteta's first season and with a weaker team.
2 things about the Nwaneri topic:
first, please let’s stop calling him a kid.
Cheers
@@BjornWiese paragraph of rubbish only to get one like💀💀
If you’re good enough you’re old enough, it’s all down to mentality not age
It's the big game that make breaking star Ethan deserves a start
Havertz will cover Odegard, Jesus or Leo will play up top. Partey and Jorgi/timber in the middle.
Who captains the team in Odegaard's place? Is it likely to be Saka?
I believe in Nwaneri
I think Trosard or Zinchenko can take up Ø position.
Play zinny in that Odegaard role for his creativity
Nwaneri wont come in for Odegaard, Arteta will play experience and is right to. Jorginho will come in and play alongside Partey, Partey will be given licence to move forward but the 3rd player in the midfield will be Havertz who'll be the creative link player. Its absolute madness to play/rely on a 17 year old kid in the NLD, the opening CL game and away at City, madness.
Let Nwaneri play. See it as another preseason game in which you want to give minutes to everyone and get to see everyone on the pitch
Really not as bleak as you two paint it. Up front Stirling Havertz and Saka
Midfield Zinny Party (sub 75 Jorgi) Nwaneri,
Left back Tierney all else as normal.
That's a good point thinking of it
“Be careful to lay out his development plan” 😂 if your good enough, you’ll make it through like Saka, Mainoo, Oscar Bobb, Rico Lewis.
You're crazy 🤣
By letting Viera go, Arteta must believe Nwaneri is a better option as back up
There is no risk whatsoever Yamal started playing at 16.
Good grief
What about Zinchenko? He can dictate play at the same pace as Odegaard and with his LWB background his pressing higher up will be a serious asset
Havertz is gonna play the right 8 role
He presses well, he links with Saka well, and he can break beyond striker also
So Trossard or Jesus will be striker
Who would you play left 8
@singerpour6946 Havertz left 8, Trossard at right 8 and Jesus up top....
Jesus is injured. Trossard is too slow for the Spurs defence, We need Havertz up top.
@NickBramwell system change then, with Partey / Jorginho double pivot, Trossard at 10 and Havertz at 9.
@@dwal007 that'd work
What the point of bringing in academy players and letting your senior players out on loan if you have no faith in the your own decisions .
Rice and Odegaard missing is like ManCity not having Rodri and KDB.
Why on earth hasn’t nwaneri been given any minutes whatsoever this season 🤷♂️
You take Rice Merino and Odegaard out of our midfield and we can play Jorginho Partey and Havertz, which is great
Take KDB, Rodri and Gundaguan out of City and it becomes Kovacic, Silva and Rico?
I dont think we lack depth in midfield, we have too many out. Take the big 3 out of city and they look far weaker in comparison too.
Take Sz, Gravenberch and Macallistair out of Liverpool and who they got?
Take Sarr Maddison and Bisouma out of Spurs and they look very different.
I dont buy the idea of we have a lack of depth, we've got plenty. We literally have 2/3 of our squads capable of playing midfield
Nwaneri starts or should start
If Nwaneri plays and unfortunately Arsenal lose, how will that stop his development? His mates are playing, why can't he?
Charles if Vierra was here he would play but Vierra is not here so why can't we play the kid.
Did you say the same when rooney burst on the scene at 16..... no you didn't..... honestly what are we talking about here?
I think it’s time we play him…if you don’t trust him, why promote him there..mainoo, yamal, were trusted by their managers, it’s a derby and best time to play him…
Champions deal with blows if we get through this phase unscathed then we will be very strong to win the lead
Nwaneri is not the answer to who replaces Martin Odegaard. Too much downside. The answer is Sterling in my opinion.
Get Nwaneri in its now or never for him that's the chance he gets yeah. I trust our defense to do the job and we might just secrifice ball possession for this game and play on a counter attack.
whats the fear about...whether ethan has a bad game or not,,,one thing is definitely going to show..how really good he is or not and i think he is a a very good player irrespective who he plays with
yes a lot would depend on the tactics....the major decision is who plays between jorginho and a makeshift payer who got legs....P.S...Ethan is nigerian in blood just like saka and what they have in common amongst many skill set is GUTS
The fart at 1:46 . Charles morning coffee squeeked out at just the wrong time 😜
Absolutely! Can't believe more people haven't picked up on that. Sharts-enal
I think he was pulling his chair
Who gets the armband with Odegaard injured and Rice suspended?
Saka
If you get rid of all of the options that could play in Odegaard's position(ESR, Viera) surely you're saying that the backup to Odegaard is Nwaneri. Either that or the people in charge have been extremely dumb and short-sighted
To me it doesn't matter if nwaneri start all I want is for him to start a pl and cl game when everyone is available to know if arteta trust unproven youngster
Imagine. A month from now we’ll have a midfield of rice, Odegaard and merino
Has has not yet made his full debut (started a game).
Didn't start
@@kunimitsune177 you aren't wrong. Fairplay. I for one am in the excited camp to see what we do though. We would obviously have the players fit and not suspended, yet these are moments that create champions, let's get behind the boys and see what we can do!
