A note from another old Trekkie. I want to express my deepest thanks to you all for restoring a part of my youth. The owners picked the right shop for the job. I'm just short of calling myself a master carpenter (does anyone ever fully learn the trade?). I've worked on many restoration jobs and have many in both state and national registries and think that you did an excellent job. "Live long and prosper!"

That shuttlecraft wasn’t the only thing restored. The original filming model of the Enterprise was also given an overhaul. She’s now on permanent display at the National Air & Space Museum in Washington DC.

I saw this Histoic Relec at a Shuttle-Con Star Trek Convention in COLUMBUS , I beleive , I took a dozen pics of its pre- restoration shape. Yeah it was sad but salvagable. STNG Gates ( Dr.Crusher) was guest at the Con. I was in awe of it's raw beauty. It was displayed outside to no fanfare. Nobody to really get official information so I assumed it was yet to be sold or adopted etc. For years at the dawn of the internet I searched for Imformation . Thanks to this Website I've gotten a Time Capsule into this Historic Icon. Thank You so much..I Live in Toledo and sadly had lost my brother who 's passed away a couple years ago .in San Antonio. It was on my bucket list to visit him and later Trek to Houston to see this restored Marvel., bur alas.😔 I was a wee lad of 10 years young. when STOS premired and have followed it since in all its incarnations. Now at Retirement age from many occupations to say the least as a professional Artist, I hope to VISIT the Houston Space Center as well as the "restored" Mission Control and the rest of the facilities and displays. By the way..Im currious about the Interior of the Shuttlecraft. I know it was a separate set piece from t he original but, perhaps you could showcase a separate video of that if it at all relates to this particular restoration. .Thank You so much for posting this True Star Trek,. Live Long and Prosper!🖖 Go Artimas! Back to The Moon...onto Mars!!!

OK, I'm crying. crying for happy. The last time I saw the Galileo, stepped inside it, was in 1970. It was well on its way to being wreckage. Neglected, abandoned, it broke my heart to see it. Nobody at the time understood the significance of what, to them, looked like a plywood and steel, camper or mobile home box. Over the protests of myself and several other SF fans, the "plan" was to leave it sitting outside, to be used as a "classroom" or "storage shed" at the Foundation for the Junior Blind. Then, when weather destroyed its outer hull (it was NEVER designed to 'live' out doors!!) they either discarded it, or gave it away. I never knew what happened to it until today. Yes, I'm crying. Tears of GRATITUDE!

A rotted set piece returned to its original dimensions by craftsmen under the guidance of its creator and designer using all parts not turned to dust. How amazing that this was able to all come together. Thank you to everyone who is involved in such a terrific, technically difficult and meaningful effort. Kudos.

They have done an expert job worthy of the task. I am breathless at the result. Thank you Gentlemen for doing this.

Adam, I know Hans very well, since 1974. I have to tip my hat to him on this project. Wish I knew, would have loved to see the shuttle craft, but looks like he replaced 90% of it. In wood boat restoration its called a "comprehensive paint job", you start scraping the paint on the outside until you reach the inside, then replace everything in between.

It was proven to be Sasquatch proof to a certain point in one episode so it would be an excellent camping vehicle, and with wood construction in many places, even Starfleet had a budget to consider- Quite logical!

Thats soooo awesome!!! Future generations will be so incredbly thankfull for preserving this iconic symbol of pop culture in a way we cant imaging now. A lot of old machines or testimonials were irretrievable lost, because nobody cared for them, when they got old and were in need for preservation just because they were old but not old enough to have sufficient value. So thanks a lot!!

I was shocked to see the way it looked when they first brought it in the shop; was it left out in the elements to rot? I grew up watching STOS and have fond memories of when the crew had to take the shuttle to rescue those crazy space hippies on the planet Eden. Good times, great memories, and there never has been anything like it since.

Thank you very much to all the wonderful people that helped to bring this beauty back for all to see and enjoy!

Clearly both the original builders and the restorers undertook their respective jobs with great pride, well done to you guys. Given that "the Enterprise is a beautiful lady and we love her" it is only right that her little friend should be afforded the same consideration. I doubt I'll ever get to see the Galileo and the original 11 foot Enterprise model in person, it is great to see them both at least on sites like this. Incidentally, how many models could have withstood 50 years of neglect and not collapsed entirely to dust? A reflection of the build quality of the original and skill of her constructors. Lastly, although James Horner didn't write any music for the original series, thanks for using him here - a great composer and gone far too soon.

The second restoration. It was previously restored in 1986 and displayed at the 20th anniversary of Star Trek convention at the Disneyland hotel (I have many pictures of it). It was sold about 1993 to someone in Ohio who left it outside all year round at the mercy of the hard northern winters, which almost destroyed it so that in 2012 they had to restore it all over again. Had it been properly stored in a warehouse it would not have been in such poor condition.

Wow, they did a real beautiful job! It had to be a total labor of love and I imagine have all these craftspeople working with them doing the bodywork and painting and forming must have been done by them primarily for love of it. Its not like this can provide much of a return on an investment, unless the return is the pride on doing it. Otherwise, the shuttle would have eventually rotted away in some crap yard somewhere. I always believed that the design of the shuttle also influenced early mini vans, like the Dodge Caravan or Ford Windstar etc, with their slanted windshield etc.
