Budget-friendly tip: $5 foam roller from Five Below. Can rest your feet on it, and roll your feet around on it. Or a longer foam roller if you want. I accidentally tossed mine under my desk one day, and never looked back.

Try a 2 step step stool. Gives 2 layers one for regular foot rest elevation and another for outting your feet up and relaxing your legs while reclining. Way better than any of the ergo foot rests ive seen that are basically only one hight.

That's exactly what I ended up buying, and 2 years on I have no regrets.
It was expensive, since I went for a heavy duty, non-China made option, but it was totally worth it.

Nice, never considered a footrest being a big ergonomic feature. Also, that short clip sitting on the flexible pedestal stool with the footrest is hilarious.

Can you try chairs marketed toward 24 hour use. E.g. Knoll RPM. I think this would make a great video, there was also a study called The Effect of Chair Designs on Sitting Pressure
Distribution and Tissue Perfusion. Where it described chairs like the Knoll RPM to be better than the Embody for total contact area etc. If you cant find the paper on libgen, I can provide it to you.

question for you about chronic pain and chairs. Specifically about a thing called pain posturing, in which people tend to lean towards a side, put a lot of pressure on an armrest, or favor a specific side with majority of their weight. I have broken so many computer chairs by this pain posturing, armrests just...break off...like I have broken metal armrests on gaming chairs. I just got a v2 leap from you guys, hoping it would be sturdy enough to help but wasnt 100% sure what the best option would be. When I was at mayo clinic they used a steelcase chair for our pain rehab program, but I didnt know the model and figured I would just ask the chair experts. Did I make a good choice with the leap?

I tried the Humanscale and HAG footrests, but both tend to slide around on laminate floors.
I ended up getting the Score Pro footrest, and it's amazing.

Be careful with the convex foam footrests. Since this digs into the bridge of your feet for many hours each day, I've developed a tendonitis which even after months of medical treatment still causes pain while walking.

That’s not true lol. For things like plantar fasciitis one of the home treatments is rolling a tennis ball under your foot to loosen things up. Correlation is not causation my guy

    Whats the use of tilt.
I hsve seen sport tourers and harleyd use a more relaxed leg extending frame with a higher tilt that rest more on the heels than the balls and toes. Am i correct to day this? Tilt for resting on heels more comfortablr ?

What about the fact that most premium chair manufacturers - like Herman miller for example - advise against using footrests because it would diminish the posture benefits achieved by the chair design?

    • @btodtv
      @btodtv  11 місяців тому +3

Not familiar with that stance from Herman Miller. Do you have a link? As far as proper ergonomics is concerned, Ergonomist recommend footrests for various reasons. Fit is one of them. When used properly, a footrest should improve the ergonomics of your workstation, not the other way around -Greg

"Those who sit for long periods of time working at a computer can benefit from this foot pillow. It elevates the feet, as well as supporting them. More important, it helps place your lower spine in a neutral position. That can relax your muscles and distribute your torso weight correctly."
I just took this quote directly from Herman Miller's website for the footrest that they sell. -Ryan

@yannikmuche8690 If you are too short to plant your feet firmly on the ground, then they would recommend a footrest to allow you to achieve the same thing. This is why they sell an ergonomic footrest and its why they allow for footrest attachments on a lot of their chairs. -Ryan

once again, what could be great products crippled by ableism. Every one of those are about the same width. There are MANY people out there who, due to age or disability, simply cannot bring their feet that close together when sitting. But no one ever considered that, did they? Don't really want to buy two of these.

The posture guy recommends a flat and wide footrest. He made one himself out of a piece of wood and two long cupboard door handles to keep it elevated.
