    I have been fighting an overheating problem myself and I think I just solved it. I ran into this back when I was running a late model but it didn’t dawn on me until I was changing water pump this week. My thermostat housing sits higher than my radiator cap and that means that there is an air bubble that will form when I fill the system and impede the water circulation. I just jacked the front of the car up until the radiator cap was higher than the thermostat housing and filled it with the car running. I can visibly see the water moving better. I used to have a thermostat housing that had a radiator cap on it for that very reason (left over from the late model days) if I can find it, I’m going to put that back on.

      I've seen those before as well. On this one the neck is the highest point so i do the same thing but I simply take the hose loose at the neck and fill it.

    IMO. I think you need to enter higher because you are hitting the apex way too soon and it’s killing your momentum because you are basically having to set the car up twice. I know in the car it feels like you are higher but you can clearly see in your heat race for sure you was atleast a car below the grove all the way around the track. I want you to be fast just as bad as you do. Good luck.

      I agree with Burney, still going in too low to soon, turn later , from higher..You should be higher the whole time, when 12 was under you forcing up closer to the wall on the straight, thats where you need to be the whole time. The car looks pretty dang good now, leave it alone and just gets weeks worth of driving. Doing great Jason , keep it up. I think we all appreciate all the info you share with us..Even when we beat you up a little bit..HeHe.. This is good stuff man!!!!!!!

    Also when you were talking about exhaust, you should look into anti reversion mufflers. It helped our low end torque on restarts and coming out of the corner while racing.

      @DIRTRACELIFE they are nice. The allowed us to go from a 5.83 gear to a 5.57 and keep the same acceleration on restarts but now we have more top end speed on our E mod that is restricted to 6200 RPM. It makes a world of difference once you get up to speed having a few extra MPH possible

  • @yhites
    @yhites 3 місяці тому +1

    I am glad to see that he had you cut the groove so that when you are looking at it from above it goes from left rear to right front like I said months ago and you told me I was wrong 😊. Just giving you a hard time but also noting it. Lol

    Just a suggestion from what I see- your not entering too fast BUT that jumping back in throttle right after you let off seems to push the front a bit. When you passed Colby, you coasted in a good bit farther before getting back on gas and you blew by him then. I think if you let it roll in till at least the center you’d be a few tenths faster there. You can tell a lot more how it’s driving on that track compared to Clayhill. It’s fast just gotta fine tune how it wants to be drove I think

    • @DIRTRACELIFE
      @DIRTRACELIFE  3 місяці тому +2

      I had not considered this David but yeah, I see it now that you pointed that out. Car needs more time to settle and roll over without me upsetting with a throttle bump.

  • @whitneypalm2438
    @whitneypalm2438 3 місяці тому +2

    Have you recognized some of the street stocks, how they put their left lower control arm all the way down and then allow the car to roll over very far onto the right rear which gives them a whole lot of rear steer, I know your car is not set up this way but I feel that you would benefit from allowing your car to roll over much more. Just my humble opinion

      Unfortunately in CRUSASS it is flat out illegal to have a lower more than 2.75" down from the tube which is where mine are. But I am racing against guys some of the time and I see them at 5 to 7 inches down. At the big shows the serious guys are legal and thats what counts.

      Whats crazy is how the car would initially feel free on entry if I was on the gas but as she hiked up you could feel it "lock in" to the track. Car looked better but im still not a fan of the 230/250 right rear spring gimmick. I believe its costing you that half a second drive off you needed. We recently went down to a 225 in right rear and raised the right rear up one round. It definetely helped considersably! Also, im curious what your pinion angle/wheel base is in dynamic attitude. This could also effect some of that drive off your needing.

    • @DIRTRACELIFE
      @DIRTRACELIFE  3 місяці тому +1

      I do believe we are on the right spring. We might need some more physical weight on it though. But I did purchase a 225 and I am taking it to the SSSNationals with me (so I might think we are on the right one but I ain't stupid either LOL)
      When I measured the car a couple months ago we were pulling that LR forward an inch in dynamic. I had the static set to 3/4" total so it was likely pulling up somewhere between 1.5 and 2" total in dynamic. I have changed a lot since then so I need to pull the car back down on the RF and hike the LR to see what it does now. On the pinion angle, I am at 5 degrees static and best I can tell I am rolling out to about 2 degrees in dynamic. My goal is to not get past zero in any situation and I am close but I don't want excessive angle at static ride height. It vibrates cars to death and destroys parts.

      This is a silly question, but being a stock class, do you run a typical thermostat? If not, you may have a large bubble of air disrupting flow at high RPM. We used to use an old Ford style two-piece hose w/cap in the middle. You could burp after filling or with a rag and a prayer let the air find it's happy place.

      I don't think you'll see me ever not follow the drift in the car with the steering. It's built into me to follow that track with the wheel as the car jockeys around. Now... as the the throttle part, I think that was me more than the car. Some laps I would hook in and could drive it off that right rear and other laps I would miss that scotch up mark or moment I needed to hit and ended up just having to wait forever. It's fun watching the learning curve.
      I think your driving is too inconsistent to be making changes... get it to where your lap times are consistent and you can consistently hit your marks, trailing the brake, yadda yadda. Once you can do those without thinking, then I'd worry about dialing in the car... otherwise you're just gonna go around in circles chasing your tail.
