    Great outcome. It’s so fun listening to you kinda talking to us and yourself to figure things out. Beautiful final pieces.

    This is one of my favorite techniques to do, if I. In a slump I find just playing with stringers like this is great.
    The ones you did look amazing.
    I guess you need a bigger kiln now

    Made two stringer bowls and never figured out an easy way of cutting them. I thought you did great. Love the pick up sticks. I also did something similar and made a Sushi set.

    Oh gosh, Jamison, 6 weeks without using your kiln. It was well worth it from the looks of the remodeling of your studio.😃

    I've been known to spray with hair spray after arranging the glass. It seemed to be sticky enough to hold it during the fire.

    try masking tape together/cut with mosaic nippers. I've even used large toenail clippers on them singular (in a box)

    • @maxlundberg3008
      @maxlundberg3008 2 роки тому +1

      The scissor type of nippers. Also making the edges not so uniform when laying them out helps open them up.

    Question: Couldn't you put the stringers on the base glass and let them do their thing instead of fusing them separately, then having to do a second full-fuse firing?

    • @JamaisonSchuler
      @JamaisonSchuler  Рік тому +1

      They won’t move like this is they are on glass first

    I enjoy your videos and love the outcome of your platters. Is this food safe?

    • @JamaisonSchuler
      @JamaisonSchuler  2 роки тому

      She’s buying these as decorative display platters for some bookshelves in her living room, so we weren’t concerned about food safety. If so, we could cap with clear powder to create a protective layer.

  • @DigiDentist

    Really like the "pick up sticks" project... possible to tack or contour fuse that onto one sheet of Tekta? If so, can you suggest a schedule? Thank you! 🙂

    • @JamaisonSchuler
      @JamaisonSchuler  Рік тому

      If I were going to do that, I’d probably go 400-1375-0, 9999-900-120, 100-700-0. But that’s just me and my kiln… you might want to do a small test first

    May I ask, why are there ball berrings in your grid?Do they help the larger sheets move?

    • @JamaisonSchuler
      @JamaisonSchuler  9 місяців тому

      Yes, that’s exactly right.

    Can you just put the stringers directly on the glass since you're full fusing it anyway on the pi k up stick one?

  • @lesselavie7675
    @lesselavie7675 2 роки тому

    Jamaison, if you were going to do the first technique in a form of a saguarro, would you cut out the design before the first firing? Thanks, I love that technique!!!

    • @JamaisonSchuler
      @JamaisonSchuler  2 роки тому +1

      I think I would, yes. I would try to get it into my rough shape first instead of trying to cur/nip it or after. But maybe that could work too? Good luck!

      This detail is in the video notes on UA-cam. If you are watching in the app on your phone, you probably just click the headline under the video. If on your computer, I think it’s usually in a gray box with “show more” under the video headline or try to click the headline itself. Thanks!!!

    Hi Jamaison, I love your videos and your creativity! Does it matter what size stringers you use to get this effect?

    • @JamaisonSchuler
      @JamaisonSchuler  2 роки тому

      I used some 1mm and some 2mm… I really don’t think it matters, personally. I suppose you might get more “movement” on 1mm but I am thinking the effect is essentially the same. If you have both, run a sample of each size first and see what you prefer?

    FWIW: Thinfire sticks to opaque BE, but not to transparents. Weird.

    • @JamaisonSchuler

      Yes, seems opals are “stickier” with papers and even kiln wash on a shelf

    Which kiln do you have? I’m really wanting a bigger one. I have a smaller Jen-ken now and it’s only an approximately a 6” octagon top load. I want a larger firing service in a clamshell top

    Wouldn’t a tack fuse work to stick them together? Then place that creation on top of the tektite?

    • @JamaisonSchuler
      @JamaisonSchuler  2 роки тому

      Yes, I’m sure that would work but I’m not sure you’d get the full movement of the stringer that I was looking for. I really wanted it to ball up and round off.
