Are you at the Rocky River where the two branches split I fish a little bit down by the nature center. Down by the water treatment plant and the Lakewood animal shelter is a great place to fish.
Not at all! I typically use orvis spawn imitations and then I love their rag clown egg. I think I caught this fish on a soft hackle though and I dont remember what variety of hackle that was.
Todd Field area in downtown Willoughby, check it out, seen many 30+ inches caught there over the yrs Also the park area off lost nation rd in willoughby/ eastlake area, very good in spring, been fishing those and other local areas for 30+ yrs Best-Regards to you n your buddies, you guys got memories for life, 👍🏻
Those are all excellent spots! I live out in Oregon so I dont get to visit too often but maybe next chance I get ill give those areas a look and try to beat that 30 inch mark. Best of luck this season!
@@LifeOutdoors ya, you ever come out here, I’ll show tell you where to go, park, I know ever hole in most of the water in chargin It’s best to park -then walk upstream a few 100 yrds, where most do not go, unmolested areas , fish have swam right up to me using my spot as a break, there used to be a native run of brook trout yrs ago, I’ve seen quite a few of them also over the yrs in the chargin, upstream from Daniel’s park in willoughby Ohio
Bastards! McDonalds at the butt crack of dawn on the way to some steelheading. I am thoroughly jealous. I have spent most of my life fly fishing the Russian River and Kenai for big bows and Crooked Creek and Anchor River for trophy steelhead. I live in Florida now so needless to say I miss cold waters. Beautiful fish. Great video.
Nothing beats it man! I was just out fishing the Kenai actually so that video will be out soon. You need to make a steelhead trip this winter it sounds like. Appreciate ya watching, tight lines!
Hey there! I actually have a full video breakdown of how I rig my fly rod for steelhead. For this day and springtime fishing in general we use a lot of stonefly patterns as they are one of the few consistent hatches in Ohio. Check it out here -> ua-cam.com/video/ToZrB5CYLYA/v-deo.html
Just found this spot a week back or so, it is definitely one of my favorites now. I hooked close to 12 fish in two hours. I was wondering how they kept getting off till I realized my hook point was gone.
Such a cool one! Well that definitely isnt going to help you keep fish on the line haha I normally check hooks after I loose a couple in a row cause I get paranoid 😂
If any locals would like to help an Illinois resident hmu. I would like to experience your great fisheries, if you’d like to give me some good spots through a personal message I’d appreciate it. Unfortunately everything over here through Indiana is so pressured and slow. Don’t worry I don’t got many friends that fish so your hole will be safe and sound with me lol
You can always shoot me a message on instagram @jacobjesionek and ill be more open with sharing some spots. If you're looking for basics, you could start at Todd Field on the chagrin or check the ODNR steelhead page for other chagrin access points as its typically the easiest to fish. Also the Rocky River would be worth a quick look on the ODNR site as well.
I have a set up video on my channel and for shallow water I basically shorten up my leader length and use more natural and smaller flies in the shallow bits. I also sometimes strip streamers through shallow water cause they’ll chase each other around a lot! ua-cam.com/video/ToZrB5CYLYA/v-deo.html
Man I love your videos, I will and I’m learning from you. I’m new in the sport!! I live in Akron and I’m trying to get familiar with lakes, creeks and rivers. I’m starting to think that all the steelhead it’s closed to Erie lake
Thank you that is much appreciated!! I’m glad that the videos are helping ya out. I have lots of videos all over the area with plenty of spots included. Definitely stick writhing an hour of Lake Erie for the best fishing! Also there is a link in the description for curated where I can help get you geared up if you need it 🙌🏼
Such a treat getting to hang with the boys! Can't wait to meet you out west for more epic adventures. As always, another flawless vid.

Which reel are you referring to? The silver one in my hand (camo shirt) is an Orvis Hydros IV!

Well saying it like that makes me wanna fumble the spot lol I don’t talk creek locations tho just big rivers
Don't hole burn. We are locals
I’m a local too, I wouldn’t post up specific spots 😂
@@LifeOutdoors where you live?
CO for the last year but Ohio for 20+ years before then haha
I would be very interested in how you rigged your line and what fly(s) you used.
