- For years I have wanted to travel North to catch a new species that I can't catch in Southern Coastal waters, and I finally got to do it! Catching steelhead in the Ashtabula River in OH totally exceeded my expectations, and it was everything I dreamed of!! how awesome is this ive been watching your videos for a few years now, and here you came to my town little ole geneva ohio , then on top of that you go fishing with my friend Rick it a small world lol. definately come back in the summer theres tons more to do then at geneva on the lake
No way!!! How crazy is that lol I'd love to come back in the summer it looks like a lot of fun when all the stores are open and stuff! But we also had a great time in the winter, it was so cool to see the snow!

If you enjoyed that, try late September-mid October salmon fishing in any number of Great Lakes tributaries...lots of bigger fish...and crowds...and a little warmer. BTW the camo waders look cool too... probably don't need 'em in Florida 😀! Be well...tight lines...

OMG your in my area well im 20 minutes south from your area. Be careful fishing evening/night fishing lake erie off shore is amazing wallie rn and steel head. Wish i could meet up and give pointers.
That was an awesome video! I wrangled a few nice steelies myself before it started snowing up here in the u.p. of Michigan. Spotted, stalked and dropped a nice six pointer last week! Time for some surf and turf! Glad to see you both enjoying your vacation.

My brother N law is one of them guys that does that guided fly fishing stuff! He has a huge Viking setting in Orange Beach and said he enjoys his fly fishing trips more! Try’s to get me to go but I just don’t care to fresh water fish! 😬
Glad you enjoyed my state, but you really should come in the summer. Walleye and perch fishing in lake Erie is awesome. You guys could go out to put in bay and have a blast. Trust me you'd love it and you would be out of the Louisiana humidity for a while. Also you could go to Cedar Point, it's the roller coaster capital of the world.

use to fish Southern Illionis for trout as a kid, will never forget the first one i caught, about a 3 pounder, took me half hour to land it...........i was afraid i would lose it.................lol..........damn near pulled me in, i was very young..............

Well Jackie let me tell you about my fishing trip I was at a dam in a coffer and got a hold of a beautiful salmon before steelhead "I remember yelling fish on" I have no idea fought that monster that seems like forever and still lost it my arms were shaking from the rush of the current I know you've done some really good fishing but your arms can get weak your feet get sore in those waiters on the rocks
Come back to edit I was using a glow warbler at night time

What pound test were you using? I know some people have to go to 4 pound test fluorocarbon just to get a bite. Catching those big fish on 4 pound test is something!
Steelhead are a awesome fish. Some tributaries are loaded with giant brown trout this time of the year along the Great Lakes. Try Lake Michigan either on the Michigan or Wisconsin side in mid to late September the salmon fishing. Much more powerful and acrobatic in the river

Jacki, how does the Steelhead fight compared to species of Saltwater fish?
It was so different using such light tackle, I was not used to it!! They definitely give a good fight for such a small fish too,, if I could compare it to a saltwater fish, I'd say it is most similar to catching a bonefish!
