The first half Cole rapped (over the 93 'til infinity' beat) wasn't the first time he'd rapped over the beat (Til Infinity off his 'The Warm Up' mixtape was the first attempt of his we can access). He certainly improved upon it immensely since. We can also insinuate that he came into the Freestyle session with at least the first half of the freestyle penned and practiced beforehand, because that was masterfully delivered. The other half (over the Still Tippin' beat) wasn't as smooth as the first half and I'm not saying this to downplay the insanity of Cole's wordplay, delivery, cadence switches and flows. If you take a look at the cypher video with Black Thought, Eminem and Mos, I think Black Thought and Mos came in with pre-written verses, though you can double-check me on that fact. All 3 verses on that cypher were lyrically insane, delivered to a live beat that was provided by DJ Premier, whereas here Cole had to deliver his verses to prerecorded beats, the first of which I'm sure he'd practiced the hell out of. It's a tough debate to settle. Both are great depictions of lyrical insanity.

Bro this really was 12 years in the making. I remember like it was yesterday the first time I heard J. Cole was when he first got signed to ROC Nation in 2009 and the LA Leakers had him on at the midnight hour spot and his debut single was Who Dat. I was a fan of Cole ever since. This really takes me back.
